New DREDD Image Of Mega-City One (Low-Res)

In the latest issue of Empire magazine there is a new image of Mega-City One. What's interesting is that one of the buildings bears the name of Carlos Ezquerra, the co-creator of Judge Dredd.

The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

The film opens in 3D September 21st.

Nomis@ My feelings about the city too.

I dont like the bike design and the lack of futuristic cars either. The flying ships in the trailer looks cool thou.

Otherwise this film feels decent. Urban is gonna own.

I think the movie is looking pretty good. I agree though, I think Megacity looks a little Sparse. I mean, how are you supposed to have Block War if the buildings are that far apart?

Looks cheap and nasty. Can't wait.

Never read the comics but I don't get the 'mega' impression from this at all.

LMAO@Monkeyballs! Funny! As far as MegaCity goes, I love the look. Looks pretty realistic and block wars could very easily happen. Down on the streets it looks pretty freakin crowded to me!

Looks dangerous!

"MegaCity has had better days" is the look They're going for. Is that the fgeneral impression in the comics too?

Corny looking movie. Crappy costumes and cheap thrills. At least Stalone gave the role some character.

Stallone gave the role some character???
He ruined it!!!
I do wish more people would give this film a chance. As a reader of 2000ad since it came out, I can understand the direction they have taken on a small budget. Don't forget, there are mega cities after a nuclear holocaust. Because of that in a realistic sense, housing would have to be cheap and efficient. Although the Stallone version did have the comic look at the city, it was bad on so many levels.
This looks like humanity hanging on by a thread and escaping through Slo-Mo and only the judges standing between crime and absolute chaos.
The uniforms look more like early Ezquerra and certainly tactically functional within the premise.
