According to a source for Deadline The Amazing Spider-Man has debuted with $35M, but rival studios claim the number is closer to $32M. Either way it stomps all over Michael Bay's Transformers (2007), which pulled in $27.8M to set the record for a Tuesday opening.

With the film receiving an ‘A-’ Cinemascore from audiences (an ‘A’ from under age 18 moviegoers) the movie should enjoy some good word of mouth.

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field, the films swings into theaters July 3, 2012 in 3D!

Too bad The Amazing Spider-Man earned only an estimated $7.5 million from midnight shows last night. Among comic book movies, that's much lower than The Avengers ($18.7 million) and The Dark Knight.
EditNinja - 7/4/2012, 1:53 AM
I'll wait till after the school holidays finish, and see it on the cheapo Tuesday. Kids ruin the 'fantastic cinema experience'.
Looking forward to it!
ULTIMOSPIDER - 7/4/2012, 1:55 AM
Dmon - Monday = Workday for most on Tuesday....so what is your damn point ?

BTW nobody is saying it will beat Avengers or TDK....you should be more concerned with if TDKR can beat TASM

Nuff said
Webhead007 - 7/4/2012, 1:57 AM
I almost shit my pants when I read this article
Dmon - 7/4/2012, 1:58 AM
@ULTIMOSPIDER- Thursday = Workday on Friday for 99% of the population also. So whats "your" point?
Webhead007 - 7/4/2012, 2:00 AM
Oops....... looks like I did
Webhead007 - 7/4/2012, 2:03 AM
@Dmon His point TASM was released on a work day the avengers and TDK wasn't
Webhead007 - 7/4/2012, 2:05 AM
@Dmon And remember most off of work and don't have to come back the next day
Dmon - 7/4/2012, 2:05 AM
@Webhead007 Yes they were released on a work day. I dont know what country you are from but here in the US people work on Fridays.
Webhead007 - 7/4/2012, 2:06 AM
On Fridays

Big box office opening, bad word of mouth, low repeat viewing appeal, ultimately below par final box office performance.

This movie underwhelmed me hugely, first comic book movie I really have no wish to see again in a hurry. Too many WTF moments with people seeing Peter Parker do impossible stuff and they don't even question it. Movie wasted too much time generating crap about the totally unnecessary secret history of Peter's parents that nobody gives a frak about.

As bad as Spiderman-3 was, I was more entertained watching that despite all that this new version got right, including its superior Peter Parker in Andrew Garfield. I suspect this movie won't go down too well with some of the younger kids and parents because of its pedestrian presentation compared to the lively Raimi movies.
JDUKE25 - 7/4/2012, 2:07 AM
Awesome, it was a really good movie.
Webhead007 - 7/4/2012, 2:08 AM
@Dmon I know people work on fridays im saying when they see the movie because they dont have to go work the next day
Webhead007 - 7/4/2012, 2:09 AM
@Dmon by the way im American
xcrementus - 7/4/2012, 2:11 AM
@DMon: you dont get a weekend to relax after a tuesday. How do you not get this? Do you have a job?
Dmon - 7/4/2012, 2:12 AM
@Webhead007 And alot of people take off the day before the 4th as well. Just as much if not more then the people who would take off for a movie.
Dmon - 7/4/2012, 2:14 AM
@xcrementus I guess you dont know about this thing we have here in the US called the 4 of July its a federal holiday most people have it off and take more then 1 day off with it.
SkateandDestroy88 - 7/4/2012, 2:15 AM
Yeah gonna see the movie again cause I thought it kicked ass!!!!!!

Probably gonna make hella cash. Marc Webb and company did such a fantastic job. People can hate but I thought it was f#cking awesome.

Spiderman two was kind of boring. This movie was a little slow but delivered where it needed to deliver. Like the fights, Pete being a badass w his mind. Gwen and Pete. Yea!!!!! The sequels. Sorry but this universe kikcs f#ckin ASS!!!!!!
xcrementus - 7/4/2012, 2:16 AM
I'm pretty sure most people are out having fun on the 4th of july, and not lining up to a movie.
hellfire - 7/4/2012, 2:17 AM
Dmon - 7/4/2012, 2:19 AM
@xcrementus Well if that is so then why did it do so good the next then huh? When people are supposed to be at work or out having fun like you said.It is because kids are more interested in it then adults.
Dmon - 7/4/2012, 2:22 AM
@Vegakingblade Only children make comments like that. Go back to playing with your dolls.
MisterFixit - 7/4/2012, 2:24 AM
I have not seen the film yet but I
already know that certain errors in the development of the characters won't be there this time. I love the first 2 Raimi movies, but they are far from perfect, just like this one. To those who say that the characterization of Raimi was superior, remember Uncle Ben speaking to Peter about powers and responsibilities without
knowing that he had the powers.
Or remember that in Spiderman Peter and MJ had lived all their life as neighbors, and despite this she
barely spoke to him. He watched Mj every day from elementary school and she rather not even knows the color of his eyes. Then in Spiderman 2 suddenly the director decides to overlook these small details and she becomes his "best
friend, who has spent the entire life waiting for him at the door of his house". :-)

Saw it yesterday!
Was very good!
Not amazing at all!

Impressive effects but that's not something I can say will make any film better for me cuz in 2050 effects will be even better!! How story was told & how it unfolded is what matters!
& that wasn't impressive!!

Lots of people said that it's same story told again!!
I don't have a problem with that cuz its SpiderMan's origin story But got a problem with "the Untold Story" shit: NO! It wasn't anything new; other than usual changes any film will make if they remake another film!! So stop false marketing Sony!! It was SpiderMan & SpiderMan-2 story mixed as SpiderMan 1.25!! But as I said I was kinda OK! But still it's same story told will expanded & deeper look into Peter; nothing NEW, just deeper!!

Will see again to make my mind; fully!!

Maybe I'll like it more than I should cuz of Andrew Garfield's exceptional performance!
But Story, Lizard & some STUPID things & character descions were the main problems!
& film was Filled with those Problems; & those problems annoyed the hell out of me!

But where it was good; it was very very Good!

My problem remained yet; I loved the first 2 SpiderMan films & yet didn't fall in love with character; this one made me like Peter & SpiderMan a lot more but still not in love!
X:Men films (1&2) were great but I didn't love any character (except Wolverine)!
X:Men First Class made me LOVE them!
BatmanBegins made me LOVE Bruce / BATMAN!
Still waiting for same effect from a SpiderMan film!!
GUNSMITH - 7/4/2012, 2:27 AM
SPOILER

GUNSMITH - 7/4/2012, 2:29 AM
I BET IT'S SOMEONE WHO WORKS AT OSCORP FOR OSBORNE..MAYBE HIS RIGHT HAND MAN.
Dmon - 7/4/2012, 2:30 AM
@Vegakingblade What ever Marvelite. With your rose colored glasses this movie can do no wrong. Right? With that type of mentality you are probably a Lib too.
Dmon - 7/4/2012, 2:36 AM
@Vegakingblade Wow did you seriously remove all your comments?
FilmsFan - 7/4/2012, 2:36 AM
... Oh and I forgot; the amount of time Peter is showing off as filled with "special" power!!
Why didn't anyone though; hey He could be that SPIDERMAN!!
You know he sticked the BasketBall in his hand & Flash couldn't take it; he destroyed the whole Basketball Basket; MAYBE he's got some special power!
Oh & be BENDED the POLE by throwing a Ball at it; first How can a Pole be BENDED by a BALL!?!?!?
Anyways; 2nd: why didn't anyone around though Hey How can he do that?!?

NO! No one seems to care about these SMALL things!

......: SPOILER :.....

& when Captain Stacy found out that Peter is SpiderMan; well there were tons of policemen there; & a Helicopter Light over him as well; & a NEWS Channel was spoon-feeding audiences with the state of SpiderMan; couldn't tell HEY HE JUST HAD A MASK OFF!!

No!!
That's All so conveniently Ignored!
Plus lots of MORE stuff!!
GUNSMITH - 7/4/2012, 2:39 AM
I THOUGHT THE MOVIE WAS AMAZING. I COULD NIT PICK AT THINGS BUT I ENJOYED THE MOVIE.
thewonderer - 7/4/2012, 2:41 AM
Lol at the people who think this will make more money than TDKR
tripttwe - 7/4/2012, 2:48 AM

DiLusso - 7/4/2012, 2:49 AM
i really enjoyed the movie. hell its spiderman. perfect, no but spiderman moved and talked the way we all know and love. that sold it for me
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 7/4/2012, 2:50 AM
@Vegakingblade Damn straight.

TheBaroness89 - 7/4/2012, 2:59 AM
I love when Dark Knight fans point out flaws in other cbm.
Somehow they seem to forget the Joker blew up a police station while standing in the middle of it and was the only one to live thru it.
ANYWAY...
Spidey was good for a cbm- great? nahh Avengers was obviously better but Spider-Man 2 will be alot better now that the 'origin' is out of the way. I saw it twice to give it a good chance at impressing me and it did.
FilmsFan - 7/4/2012, 3:02 AM
@Vegakingblade

NO!
I ENJOYED IT; BUT IT HAS FLAWS that's pissed me off!
Cuz they were really really silly!!
& could've easily avoided but writers didn't bother!!

So me pointing out flaws doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it; it's just that I didn't loved it!!
TheBaroness89 - 7/4/2012, 3:04 AM
...oh and before Nolanites bash that comment- I saw TDK 7 times in theaters and own the Blu Ray. I am not a hater. I am a lover of all comic book movies even if they suck(like Ghost Rider). But there are a few flaws in Nolan's Bat movies and don't act as if there isn't.
Ric - 7/4/2012, 3:04 AM
I smell another recordbreaking CBM to earn 1 billion *fingers crossed*
spideyboy - 7/4/2012, 3:16 AM
We are forgetting that TASM is the first of a new rebooted series. And it's pretty early for a reboot, yes. But considering how well it's doing is very impressive! There's a lot of possibilities for a sequel. And whoever saw the movie, was I the only one trying to find a "Stark Industries" easter egg with all that technology at Oscorp?
marvel72 - 7/4/2012, 3:16 AM
spidey is the man going in just under six hours.

@ thewonderer

how do you know this isn't going to beat the dark knight rises, you can make your own prediction but it isn't fact.

i predicted the avengers would make $850,000,000,how wrong i was $1,448,320,000.
spideyboy - 7/4/2012, 3:17 AM
And why compare TASM to TDK or TDKR?? If anything The Amazing Spider-Man should compare with Spider-Man 1, where TASM comes out on top.
TECHNODROME518 - 7/4/2012, 3:18 AM
I've been a fan of Spider-man since I was a small child. I have literally grown up with this character in my life some way or another. I have always loved the character of Peter Parker, and always felt like he was the one marvel character I completely related to. After seeing Andrew Garfield's performance as Peter, I have to say that he completely blew my mind.
I really feel like he has given the best current day representation of Peter Parker. Andrew nailed it. He was the best part of the movie. I have a few gripes about the movie, but I didn't go into it with very high expectations. In fact, I went into it with very neutral feelings. Overall I was very pleased with this movie, the acting, the cgi, the fight scenes, the comedy (mostly from Andrew), and the drama. But, this was not the untold story at all. I expect a lot more from the second one. Let the new countdown begin...
UrbanKnight - 7/4/2012, 3:21 AM
YEAH! Go Spidey!! {Frick} all haters!
UrbanKnight - 7/4/2012, 3:32 AM
Btw im sorry but for those that think TASM will outgross TDKR...your smokin sherm.
Maybe a great sequel to it but not this one which is establishing a new series.

I love Spidey but Rises is even gonna rival The Avengers, so...

We all know this, consciously or not, keep it real folks.
Batman27 - 7/4/2012, 3:46 AM
I loved the film and I bet it makes over 200 million by monday.
