Neat stuff. The Lizard's face still makes me laugh.
Kingdork - 7/4/2012, 5:14 PM
Yeah, at my screening people couldn't stop laughing at the Lizard. I did too in some parts. Overall he was a weak villain anyway.
DrDoom - 7/4/2012, 5:15 PM
Oscorp building is great. The rest of the designs (including Spider-Man's costume and the Lizard) are garbage.
CaptainObvious - 7/4/2012, 5:23 PM
Something bothers me about this movie. If that vaporizer can be used as a doomsday machine, why would Oscorp leave it plugged in for years without ever using it and risk it falling into the wrong hands?
Kingdork - 7/4/2012, 5:27 PM
@ CaptainObvious It was only there for exposition so the audience knew what it was when they used it in the climax. Simple as that.
DrDoom - 7/4/2012, 5:31 PM
Thus it's a plot point used because of weak scripting.
Mrsinister - 7/4/2012, 5:31 PM
Loved the movie!
CaptainObvious - 7/4/2012, 5:33 PM
@Kingdork- It still does not excuse the fact that Oscorp made a stupid decision by leaving a potential doomsday device open for anybody to use.
Kingdork - 7/4/2012, 5:36 PM
@AcidicHeart True. As much as I enjoyed the movie, the script and the story telling was all over the goddamn place.
Emanuel14 - 7/4/2012, 5:40 PM
THESE ARE SO AWESOMEEE
Kingdork - 7/4/2012, 5:41 PM
@ CaptainObvious Oh it doesn't excuse anything. It's just bad writing.
- "Hey, we need to showcase that macguffingy stuff the Lizard will use as a doomsday device in the climax"
- "Well, let's leave it here, point at it, explain what it does and voilà".
marvel72 - 7/4/2012, 5:47 PM
i liked the lizard in his lab coat,he should of wore it the whole movie.
mgeoff88 - 7/4/2012, 6:00 PM
That concept art is awesome. Especially the top one, that is sweet!
Wildaniel - 7/4/2012, 6:05 PM
WellDrawn - 7/4/2012, 6:06 PM
The Cast/Acting/Tone/Pacing were all great.... The plot/script.....

Hasn't the whole 'bad guy dispersing chemicals / vapor into the city thus altering everyone' plot been done enough times already, and better handled? (Batman Begins)
Kingdork - 7/4/2012, 6:17 PM
@WellDrawn I wholeheartedly disagree about the pacing. Because the script and the structure of the movie weren't tight, the pacing of the film suffered from that. As much as I enjoyed the film, it felt very mechanical and not well thought off in terms of the flow of the storytelling.
BenderDickCumPatch - 7/4/2012, 6:27 PM
Nice art.
SUPERMAN2013 - 7/4/2012, 6:28 PM
It was better than spider-man 2002,thats a good enough reason for me to think its the best spiderman film,no matter its flaws
Optimus83 - 7/4/2012, 7:27 PM
¡¡¡Good Concept Arts!!!. ...¡¡¡Green Goblin for the sequel!!!
Jolt17 - 7/4/2012, 9:53 PM
Y'know, I'd actually prefer the Lizard to be a little bit smaller - perhaps, like how that concept art depicts. The "no snout" thing doesn't affect the overall appearance much after all, but the size does bother me. And, yes, the (ripped) lab coat is a [frick]ing perfect match to this Lizard. They indeed should've kept it during the whole movie.
ronnie42 - 7/4/2012, 9:54 PM
Brilliant, can't wait for the sequel.
Jolt17 - 7/4/2012, 10:41 PM
Is that first image really drawn by Todd McFarlane!? His art looks quite different now, doesn't it. Oh, and that light-generated OsCorp logo atop the building looks awesome. Too bad it isn't in the movie.
SuspenseSmith - 7/4/2012, 11:25 PM
I heard 75% of the shots in TASM are vertical. Even the post-credits scene ends with a vertical shot.

Crazy and kind of unique.
Spidey31 - 7/4/2012, 11:34 PM
Am I the only one that thinks the first film of this series made the right ingredients for the sequel to be the best CBM of all time?
SuspenseSmith - 7/4/2012, 11:34 PM
I feel that it's all Avi Arad's fault. All other variables for this equation has changed, but that damn israel [frick]tard is still involved. He's a [frick]ing idiot that needs to leave Spider-Man alone.

Someone else said action/acting/pacing were good. That's all the director's job.

The story is up to mostly the writer and the "creative officer" overseeing it. That asshole happens to Arad. If I were to point any fingers for a stupid macguffing ending, which as much as I loved this movie must admit was the only childish thing in the movie, it would be at the [frick]ing idiot Avi Arad. Sure he's overseen some good films, but he's also producer of shit like Ghost Rider and Spider-Man 3.

My guess as to why Webb may not come back (who was the one responsible for most of the good stuff in this movie, ie human relationships and emotion), would because of the damn producer.

If you're gonna reboot the franchise, white wash the whole crew, not just the cast and director. I bet if Webb had free reign like Nolan had with Batman, it would have been a lot better.
SuspenseSmith - 7/4/2012, 11:36 PM
I sense that Webb was forced with certain choices and had to fight for a lot of things to be done.
Spidey31 - 7/4/2012, 11:36 PM
And it's getting new script writters
BenderDickCumPatch - 7/4/2012, 11:39 PM
@SuspenseSmith- I agree, [frick] Avi Arad.
Spidey31 - 7/4/2012, 11:40 PM
Suspense-AGREE 100% the movie was very good but Avi pushed some of the bad things in there. I think and hope Webb comes back I had a feeling Avi was gonna push him away.
SuspenseSmith - 7/4/2012, 11:40 PM
I think most of the Marvel films did well because Kevin Feige is such a smart guy and also lets the directors do their job. WB was smart to let Nolan completely loose on Batman. Sony has always been too overbearing with Spider-Man. They forced Venom in SP3 and all kinds of other stuff.

I was hoping for Webb to blow away expectations with this one so he'd have that same power to tell the studio to "shut the [frick] up, and let me do my job." But, from the looks of it it'll be a slightly above average success and Webb might leave instead....

And the dislike for the film ain't helping that.
Spidey31 - 7/4/2012, 11:53 PM
Suspense smith I disagree on that though it still was a very well made film but I still think the sequel could give the TDK a run for its money
Spidey31 - 7/4/2012, 11:55 PM
And marvel does not let the directors have thier way lol they are the worst of them all. Jon faveru is the only director to come back but he left as did Jonson and the Peggy lady left before she even started. Marvel studios has put out some okay films but they do not give the directors a lot of control why do you think they hire no names? Hell Whedon might not even come back.
HarveyDent88 - 7/5/2012, 12:44 AM
Oscorp designs look really smart. But I'm sorry the lizard still looks shit.
Kingdork - 7/5/2012, 1:33 AM
@ Spidey31 Not entirely true. They are indeed, as Feige puts it, pretty hands on with their properties, which is totally understandable since they have a coherent cinematic universe to maintain. A director is here for just one movie, but the studio has to connect it to the others somehow. And talking about creative control, they let Joss Whedon rewrite the ENTIRE SCRIPT from scratch. FROM SCRATCH! He's even the one who brought up Thanos. What kind of studio will do such a thing to their biggest and most daring franchise when they already have a script written for them before the director was hired? Whedon is not really a no-name per se and he was brought in for his talent of handling multiple characters. And in the end the movie breathes and feels like Whedon in every frame and in every line of dialogue uttered. He had a lot of control. A LOT! While being a big summer blockbuster, the movie feels very personal. But the problem with TASM is that the script reeks of studio meddling and therefore they are no singular voice. It's a bit disjointed, and Webb was there to direct a script already written by three successive writers before he came on board. He just puts in is visual touch and his sensibility in the way the characters interacts. But for the sequel to give TDK a run for its money, Sony will have to put their trust in the creative minds of the director, and not ask three different screenwriters to rewrite the same script without coordinating. Nolan was invested in the script from the get-go. Whether you like Batman Begins or not, the storytelling is handled much much better, and the structure of the script is tight. It's not a bunch of events/plot points awkwardly strung together to move the story along. It thematically serves a purpose and enriches the main character and his journey into establishing himself into The Dark Knight. Again I deeply enjoyed TASM for the great cast and the awesome Spidey moments, but the movie lacks structure and a more natural flow regarding the storytelling.
AlexDeLarge87 - 7/5/2012, 2:54 AM
Looks cool.

Specially those tower designs.

Cant wait to see the movie.
GUNSMITH - 7/5/2012, 3:28 AM
MOVIE WAS AMAZING.
Godzillafart - 7/5/2012, 7:12 AM
@Kingdork: I couldn't disagree with you more on your comparison of TASM and BB. I felt TASM was one of the most tightly put together pieces of story telling we have seen in a CBM. It started by not being rushed and taking time in establishing characters and relationships. By doing so, I cared about Peter and Gwen, and, unlike in the Raimi film, I cared when Uncle Ben died. The motivation of everyone was understandable and relatable. On top of that, there were no unintentional loose ends.

BB, which I consider to be Nolan's worst movie, was rather poor story telling. The death of Bruce's parents was an emotionless and uninspired rehash of scenes we have seen before. His training in general was rushed and the bit with the ninja club in the mountains was silly. The middle part explaining his tech was great, but then got silly when he killed all those cops, and the final third of the movie was uninspired and boring.

Now, I think Nolan improved greatly in TDK, but TASM beats BB in terms of story telling on every level. And, in TASM, the lead is well cast.

RE: Top drawing.. kinda weird seeing Oscorp building in the Charlotte, NC skyline :D
beardedOne - 7/5/2012, 2:19 PM
Why can't some of you understand, that they used the Lizard from the Comic books. In the original Comics he did not have a lizard snot, he had a flat face. I loved how they did the lizard in this movie. and the suit was cool, I can't wait for the sequel.
