THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Concept Art Featuring Web Shooters & Variations Of The Suit

Conceptual artist Ed Natividad has updated his website with his artistic contributions for Marc Webb's summer blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man. The artwork features illustrations of two different variations of Spider-Man's costume.

from all the concept art i've see, i'm glad they went with the suit they did. some of the lizard designs looked pretty cool but i liked the way the lizard looked in the movie.

excited for the sequel

i want a director's cut of ASM

did the designer of the first one ever think that had a chance of being chosen? Seriously, as much as I love looking at concept art and admire concept artists, some of them seem to be a bit clueless.

Might work well if it was the Scarlet Spider or something. But I could never seeing the Clone Saga working well in a movie.

The first one looks like tie-dye shit. 2nd one looks decent. I bet they modify the suit slightly for the sequel.

I really enjoy looking at concept art, they always show cool scenes that could have been in the movie.

The costume they went with might look cool to some of you now, but within 20 years it's going to look VERY contemporary and '2012ish' the way a a lot of things look very 70's or 80's.

If you're going to retell the origin story, why not go for a different take on the most iconic possible vision of the character.

If you're gonna take the character back to high school and retell the origin, they should have gone the more homemade route, instead of the 'professional costume movie department' version they went with. IMO they should have use a variation of the suit from Spiderman Edge of time - Exaggerated the uneven hand-stitched webbing a bit more, and given him the more angular eyes from the movies:



Let him have a modern/contemporary suit in the sequels, once he's outta high school, give us the iconic version for the origin story.

I thought about how Webb combined stuff from Amazing Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-man and IMO he shouldn't kill Gwen using Green Goblin becuase he would have to use bridge scene from first spider-man and critics would again write stupid things...I think he should use idea from Ultimate and let Carnage kill Gwen...but of course as Carnage he should use original Cletus Kasady and not this weird monster from ultimate series.

That first one looks like a cheap Carnage knock-off to me. I like the second one.

For me the movie was pretty good and the costume which I don't like as much as the original didn't bother me at all during the movie. I think the thing I dont like about the new suit is the blue on the hands which I didnt pay much attention to during the movie but notice much more in the still pics.

I would have also liked it more if Andrew was a little more cut than what he is. Not much more but a little. I hope he can beef up a tad in the sequal.

Im willing to bet the only reason they were able to get away with the lame changes to the suit now is cuz they attempted to pitch that first one. When everyone in the boardroom was done throwing up they must've been willing to settle for anything else.

He looks like a woman in the first one. The rest are pretty cool. I like the web shooters especially, I was wondering how they would actually work. Didn't he just use pre-made web cartridge things from Oscorp in the movie though?

The first design is unbearable. Seriously who made that? Idiot.

The second is okay, not good but alright. It has some interesting design elements, and is probably better than the one used in the movie.

awesome art

went to see the Amazing Spider-Man earlier on in today, very enjoyable movie. Not Avengers level of awesome but I really enjoyed it, and I was completely on the fence about the reboot before because I just hate reboots in general

But I thought the origin story was given enough of a tweak to make it interesting all over again. Plus I can see the whole parents story being used as the basis for the sequels. The random guy in the post credit scenes will probably be a henchman of Norman Osborn sent to hunt Spider-Man in the sequel, then it will be Green Goblin in third one

What I also love about the movie is, that its just like the Avengers, an accurate portrayal of the Spider-Man story and its literally a comic come to life. Spider-Man himself looked incredible, [frick] the suit haters

But please turn Spider-Man into James Bond, NO MORE REBOOTS! Just have the first 3 movies in the Amazing Spider-Man series set in high school with Gwen Stacy as the love interest. Then kill Gwen in the third one, introduce Mary Jane as a friend during the third one

then for the next trilogy, Peter goes to college, starts to have feelings for Mary Jane and the Sinister Six is formed by the final movie in the second trilogy

SECOND ONE SHOULD PLAY OUT THE GREEN GOBLIN DEATH OF GUEN STACY STORYLINE, IF EMMA STONE IS SIGNED UP FOR 3 PICTURE DEAL, MAYBE 3RD COULD HAVE HER IN FLASHBACKS OR DREAM SEQUENCES AND THEN INTRODUCING MARY JANE.

When I first saw the suit, I doubted it.
In the months leading up to the film, I decided to give it a chance.
When I saw the film, I liked it.
Now that I'm seeing some of the concept art, I LOVE it!

LOL at the first one!

Artists: Here are the designs!
Webb: You know we're making a Spider-Man film right?
Artists: Yeah, why?
Webb: Get back to me when you decide to draw Spider-Man.

The concept art is stupid. The final suit changes were stupid. No reason to change it from the comics. And, I'm not talking texture here, just the red/blue design.
