Director Guillermo del Toro tells USA Today that he is so involved in Pacific Rim that he is personally helping to create the sound effects for the film's monsters.
"I am an obsessive compulsive, and I can tell you without any shadow of a doubt I am involved very deeply on everything, from the pin on the lapel of a jacket to which way the monster's eye slants," he says. "I am essentially a socially inept creature. I dedicate my entire life to this. This is what I do, this is what I live for."

Every one of his monsters, which fans will be able to see for the first time on Saturday at a Warner Bros. panel, will have individual personalities and abilities. Some are adept at swimming in the depths of the sea, others fly, and one even vomits corrosive magma-like liquid. "There's a lot to love," del Toro quips.

SYNOPSIS - When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim is scheduled for release on July 12, 2013. The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Max Martini, Rob Kazinsky, Clifton Collins Jr. and Diego Klattenhoff.

@Millenium Power Rangers really needs to get it's shit together and do a movie with suits like these and giant Megazord robots, this day and age is a perfect time for a MMPR movie done right. The '96 (?) movie less corny and with todays CGI would be a huge blockbuster.
Tony93 - 7/10/2012, 11:11 PM

They should make a power rangers movie since the movie industry is out of ideas anyway...but do it right since the technology is up to date now

It's all about this and Man of Steel for me, in 2013. The Marvel franchise peaked with The Avengers, so I'm not too fussed about Iron Man 3.
Nomis1800 - 7/11/2012, 5:12 AM
Handsome man
mctrinket - 7/11/2012, 5:17 AM

a little Lovecraftian scale will do average cinema goers good.
