Child's Make-A-Wish Has Inspired Guillermo del Toro To Pursue HELLBOY 3

Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman are in San Diego for Comic Con and were approached once again about the prospects of Hellboy 3. Both have said that they would like to do it, but didn't ever see it happening. Most fans had come to the sad conclusion that Hellboy's destiny that was spoken of in the previous two films would be left unfulfilled.

But things change. A six-year old who is battling leukemia is a huge fan of the films and request for his Make-A-Wish that Hellboy come and visit him. Perlman donned the costume once again and made a very sick child quite happy. That boys wish came true, but it also had another effect.

Del Toro says the event was also a factor in helping to bring himself and Perlman together on making a third Hellboy. “I’ve encountered a lot of kids who are fans of the movies,” said del Toro, “but to hear the story of this kid who was watching the movies while going through treatment, it really just moved me a lot.” The director stresses that he hasn’t yet approached Hellboy creator Mike Mignola on the prospect of a Hellboy III, nor is a studio signed on yet. But, he says, “We’re going to make an effort to do it. I hope it happens.”

OhGawDuhhh - 7/14/2012, 3:30 PM
I love positive, uplifting stories like this. Amazing the results you get when executing with the best intentions.
GreenHalJordan - 7/14/2012, 3:33 PM
This is really great that we have directors out there that see heroes like this kid who uses his films as an upside to his horrible situation. and then u get great people that come together to make it happen, and then THEY inspire a man to go out and make another one. this is just really, really great.
CampBlood - 7/14/2012, 3:35 PM
if it gets made there should be a personal thanks to the kid at the end of the credits
msullivan1945 - 7/14/2012, 3:36 PM
del Toro's arrogance is what led to Mignola pulling the plug in the first place. I love the movies but Hellboy is all Mignola's creation. It is going to take some begging and approval of the script for him to sign off on it.
lntrn8 - 7/14/2012, 3:36 PM
awesome!
TruePunishment - 7/14/2012, 3:40 PM
If this gets made I think the kid should get a cameo.
GreenHalJordan - 7/14/2012, 3:40 PM
He should be invited to the red carpet premier!
RamonSuarez - 7/14/2012, 3:41 PM
@msullivan1945

Please, no one would know who the [frick] Hellboy is right now if Del Torro didn't take Mignola's mediocre product and adapt it for mainstream audiences.
nucleargroundhog - 7/14/2012, 3:42 PM
This kid is a legend.
AlexDeLarge87 - 7/14/2012, 3:47 PM
Cool!:)

My only wish is that the Hellboy twins die in birthing. Dont wanna see annoying kids causing headaches to Hellboy. Who then has to save them from trouble ala The Legend of Zorro which sucked big time.
Rather see Hellboy going in some dark place while grieving his children. Ending can be happy thou. HB gets back on his feet.
Moakynubs - 7/14/2012, 3:56 PM
I think a flashback to Hellboy's childhood with a cameo from the kid is in order.
xfan320 - 7/14/2012, 3:57 PM
this is awesome. It's like in the end, all our "make-a-wish" hopes of HB3 are coming true...

and after Pacific Rim, Del Toro will be gold!

Thanks kid!

I agree, NO HELLBABIES in the third!!!
Fxrank - 7/14/2012, 4:01 PM
Hell yeah. His use of practical makeup FX is what makes the characters so awesome. CGI isn't perfect yet and over used.
SCURVYDOG619 - 7/14/2012, 4:18 PM
Hellboy 3:

Hellboy's kds: No.

Lobster Johnson: Hell. Yes.

mattattack - 7/14/2012, 4:21 PM
Hellboy 2 was so bad that I could care less. More excited for Pacific Rim!
SuspenseSmith - 7/14/2012, 4:26 PM
[frick] YEAH!!!
AlexDeLarge87 - 7/14/2012, 4:41 PM
First Hellboy was awesome. The second made HB idiot. I liked only the villain and Abe in the second one. Oh and John Hurt´s cameo. Love that dude. :)
Zarog - 7/14/2012, 4:46 PM
FINALLY!!!!!!!
X79 - 7/14/2012, 5:02 PM
Well this just a great story, way to go Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman, you guys just showed that sometimes making a movie is for the fans and not just your wallet
xfan320 - 7/14/2012, 5:10 PM
"Passion & Dignity" GDT 's got it in spades
ChromaCut - 7/14/2012, 5:42 PM
Maybe the kid can play one of hellboy's twins?
scarecr0w13 - 7/14/2012, 6:16 PM
if they want they can make my dream come true too. i want to see bruce campbell play lobster johnson in a hellboy movie.
NeoBaggins - 7/14/2012, 6:22 PM

YES!

Now maybe the Dark Knight won't be the only good CBM trilogy.
AnonymousGuy - 7/14/2012, 6:23 PM
Ron Perlman made that boy very happy...and that boy made us very happy.
LoudLon - 7/14/2012, 6:37 PM
Perlman's always been a class act. This is just further testament to that fact. Bring on Hellboy 3!
IronManny819 - 7/14/2012, 7:17 PM
Loved the Make-A-Wish story. This is great news. Hellboy deserves a pt 3.
Grimm - 7/14/2012, 7:58 PM
Hell-to-the-yeah!!!
UrbanKnight - 7/14/2012, 8:04 PM

rottencotten - 7/14/2012, 9:08 PM
I hope the kid gets a cameo
AUSSYACE - 7/14/2012, 9:11 PM
It would be great to wrap the series up with a third and final film...

Lets hope the kid is in the final movie...
TChalla74 - 7/14/2012, 9:58 PM
Nice..
Clayface27 - 7/14/2012, 10:30 PM
yes!!!!
DeadPoolTX - 7/14/2012, 10:34 PM
@msullivan1945

Also the fact he turned Hellboy into a man child, got rid of John Myers, focused WAY too much on his monsters and not enough on the story which sucked ass to begin with, Liz pregnant with twins which nobody wanted (including Mike Mignola)

The only redeemable qualities HB2 had was Abe, Mansly and Fishbowl.

Tel Toro if you make HB3 STOP WITH THE [frick]ING MONSTERS! NOBODY WANTS TO SEE PAN'S LABYRINTH 3!!!
BAIKINMAN - 7/14/2012, 11:34 PM
Pretty please with sugar on top, "Make the Fu@&!#* movie"...
churchgriff - 7/15/2012, 2:09 AM
I hope that they can get the studio to sign on for this soon. Love the Hellboy films, part 2 is in my top 5 of favorite comic book movies.
BenderDickCumPatch - 7/15/2012, 2:29 AM
Please.
Alex2814 - 7/15/2012, 4:26 AM
