EXCLUSIVE: Hugh Jackman Looking Grizzly On "Yukon" Set Of THE WOLVERINE

ComicBookMovie.com has the first look at Hugh Jackman sporting long unkempt hair, and a raggedy beard for his role of Logan in The Wolverine. Also, check out set photos of Picton covered in fake snow so that it resembles a small town in the Canadian Rockies.

The other day I was informed by my source that Hugh Jackman's character Wolverine/Logan will be headed into town to buy camping gear. As you can see in the set photos below an old hardware shop in Picton has been converted into a hiking/camping shop. Also, a bar will be featured in the movie, that is why you will see a mural of a moose promoting "Ed's Bar."

Why is this important? What does it mean? Well a savvy CBM user pointed out that this could be scenes emulating the beginning of Frank Miller's "Japanese Saga" in "Wolverine #1." In that version of the tale Wolverine/Logan is seen in the Canadian Rockies pursuing a man-eating grizzly bear. During the eventual confrontation Wolverine notices that the bear has an arrow lodged in it's back. A closer examination reveals that the tip of the arrow had traces of poison and is the cause of the bear's erratic behavior.

Wolverine then seeks out the hunter responsible by picking up his scent at the bear's cave. That leads him to a local pub, "Josie's Bar 'N' Grill," where Wolverine identifies the hunter and a one-sided fight incurs.

Jackman appeared shortly after 11am to the sound of Ted Nugent’s epic Cat Scratch Fever. The star emerged through the doors of the town’s old hardware store as a group of hunters loaded their pick-up truck with bags and rifles, while drinking beer and revving each other up. Then he did it again ... and again. The scene was shot half-a-dozen times and the hype grew as people climbed on rooftops to catch a glimpse of Jackman. - wollondillyadvertiser

The sign says 'The Yukon.' Doesn't seem to be Alaska. Also read some news earlier that confirmed the Yukon as the actual location.
Swarley - 8/2/2012, 8:10 PM

Insert furry joke here.
kevberg - 8/2/2012, 8:28 PM
I 'd rather see this than that peice of dog feces, TED. Thats money i can't get back.

Its Seth Mcfarlane same feriggin' formula like all his shows-- A main character that befriends a talking Id ...a dog, bear, alien etc + add sexual jokes and random situations and sprinkle in a random drawn out fight scene..for flavor add everyone from his shows making cameo's....repeat ad nauseum.
kevberg - 8/2/2012, 8:32 PM
yeah... i went off the track, .... hope Hugh redeems himself. I think the guy is awesome to the CBM community.
ImJustTheBassPlayer - 8/2/2012, 8:38 PM

TheBigBoss917 - 8/2/2012, 9:14 PM
This seems a little picky but Hugh is starting to look pretty old compared to the wolvie we got in the first x men given this is a prequel
TheGambitFreak - 8/2/2012, 9:14 PM
GET 'EM HUGH!

Bodwulf - 8/2/2012, 9:25 PM
Glad they kept those log trucks Wolvie and Sabertooth battled on in the first Wolverine movie. It is like the old folks that made it through the Great Depression told us . "Don't throw away anything, you never know when you might need it."

how do you post pics on the comments?
CommanderJim - 8/2/2012, 11:44 PM
Hey all, Im from Picton (been watching all the goings on with much excitement!). I dont know if its been reported but theres Canadian Police cars being used in the filming, so I really dont think Picton is standing in for Alaska. It has to be the Yukon.

Something else that doesnt seem to have been reported was the filming last Friday by the same crew in the nearby town of Thirlmere. The town has a steam train museum and closed train line. The crew was filming around the station and filming one of the trains. So possibly WW2 era shooting?
fosterine - 8/2/2012, 11:58 PM
thanks nailbiter111
CommanderJim - 8/3/2012, 12:09 AM
Will do nailbiter. Here's a photo of the police car on the set I took last night. Is it a 90's model?

CommanderJim - 8/3/2012, 12:22 AM
No, it didnt seem to get any media coverage at all. I didnt know what it was, I thought they were filming a TV commercial or something (which they often do because of the steam trains and vintage station) except I thought it odd that there were so many people involved and so many trailers and equipment. I didnt realize it was for Wolverine until I saw the same people and the same crewmembers getting ready to film in Picton yesterday and the same trailers and equipment. It was most definitely the same production.

The other site is Kurnell about an hours drive away which I believe is filling in for WW2 era Japan(?) so I was thinking the Thirlmere shooting might have been part of the same scenes theyre shooting there.
Maxi91291 - 8/3/2012, 12:23 AM
Now this is more like it
DeMoNaSsDiZ - 8/3/2012, 12:38 AM

rebellion - 8/3/2012, 1:51 AM
i've never been less excited about a comic book movie.
DeadManDann - 8/3/2012, 2:49 AM
By the way, Nail, good job getting all of this news. I'm really looking forward to this one-- got a feeling it might surprise people. Seems many aren't expecting much after Origins (still disappointed by that one myself), and I don't blame them. But everything I'm seeing/hearing about The Wolverine just feels right. Anyhow, keep up the good work, all of you CBM newsgetters.

I'm also really glad his look is finally gonna go through phases. I mean, damn, Origins covered a century and he looked virtually the same throughout the entire film. His look should reflect where he is in his life, his state of mind.
