During a recent interview with The Score's Arda Ocal, former World Wrestling Federation Champion Sgt. Slaughter recounts how a conflict between two toy companies has prevent him from making a cameo in G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra and G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
Sgt. Slaughter (Robert Remus) has the unique honor of being the first G.I. Joe figure based on a real life person. The likeness is of the Sarge, but the backstory is for the most part fabricated. In the G.I. Joe universe Sgt. Slaughter is a drill instructor. His character appeared in six episodes of the original 1980's Sunbow cartoon, two of the Marvel comic books, and G.I. Joe: The Movie. His G.I. Joe action figures are some of the most popular figures ever produced in the G.I. Joe toyline.
G.I. Joe Retaliation stars Channing Tatum, D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and will be released June 29, 2012 sometime in March.
