Today in Tokyo at the Metal Gear 25th Anniversary presentation, Hideo Kojima, creator and director of the series, along with Hollywood producer Avi Arad, announce plans to adapt the video game into a movie. Avi Arad is best known for producing many Marvel films such as, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and the X-Men trilogy, to name a few.
“For many years I fought to bring comics to theaters—and video games are the comics of today,” said Arad. “We will take our time and tell the story with all the nuances, idealogy, cautionary tales needed.”

During the presentation Hideo Kojima list a few of his favorite Hollywood actors like Matt Damon, Hugh Jackman, and Ben Affleck. Oh, and his favorite director just happens to be The Dark Knight Rises' Christopher Nolan. That's when Avid stepped in with a quick quip, ""We'll tell these actors and directors who you want, and maybe they'll do it for nothing."

This won't be the first video game-to-film adaptation that Avi has worked on. His name has been attached to Uncharted and a rumored inFAMOUS movie.

This also isn't the first time a Metal Gear Solid film has been in the works either. In 2008 there was talk of a Metal Gear Solid movie, but that fell through when Hollywood and Konami could not come to an agreement on the size of the budget. That version was to be produced by Boogie Nights' Michael De Luca.

The original Metal Gear was released in July of 1987. Over those twenty-five years Konami has solid 31 million Metal Gear games. The next installment, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be in stores next year. Check out the trailer below.
