Concept Art From TMNT Defunct Live-Action Film Reveals Kirby The Fifth Turtle & So Much More

Check out lots of concept art that Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Turtles, created for a fourth live-action film that was never made. The images features multiple versions of Kirby the fifth turtle, Casey Jones with electrical fists and Evil April O'Neil.

Between 1995 and 1997 Kevin Eastman created concept art for a fourth live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie that was never filmed, which was tentatively titled, "TMNT: The Next Mutation." Below you can find many images of Kirby, the "fifth turtle," but also featured are Fang, Shredder, Spyder, Nano Spyder, Super Shredder, Kasey (Casey), Talbot, Lawson, Bugman, and Evil April.

In May, Kevin Eastman, co-creator of TMNT (the other being Peter Laird), put the concept art up for auction.
"The fourth live-action TMNT film was pitched and originally scripted as a grittier, less kid-friendly adventure, and to that end Kevin Eastman designed a more brutish, hardcore fifth Turtle, named for the legendary King of Comics (Jack Kirby)." - Heritage Auctions

THIS is why you shouldn't trust ANYTHING Kevin Eastman says about the new movie being good. The man is a good artist (when he's reined in,) but he's a terrible idea man, and a sellout. Laird fought for years to get the rights away from him. Kirby... the fifth... AAAGGGGHHH!!!!

Eastman is creatively bankrupt. He sold all his stake in TMNT a few years ago. He still benefits from being a co-creator of course though.

April forgot her shirt and Shredder looks like Dee Snider.

Once again this site prevails, barely anyone here knows what the word "Concept" really means.

They look like the jumped right out of toyline. Some look cool some not so much.

But these just scream 80's early 90's turtles

I actually liked the show Next Mutation... was probably one of the few. It was interesting to see them interact with a female turtle... don't like this idea though.

Ugh, it's for stuff like this why I never liked Eastman's stories during his run on TMNT. It's also the reason I'm so scared for the next movie. I would not be surprised if it was his idea to change them into aliens. It's like Eastman has no respect for his own material. Always going back and retconning it or contradicting character motivations. Eastman's the worst.

My vote is for Rat King as the next Turtle movie villain. Just picture how awesome that would be. A Phantom stalker creepy villain in the sewers with the turtles. It could be pretty dark.

I picture that scene from the movie "Willard" where Crispin Glover comes out of the elevator with tons of rats spilling out of the doors when it opens. He would be a great villain. Kidnaps Splinter and makes him eat other rats to survive like in the comics....Awesome!

Leonardo, Donatello, Michalangelo, Raphael... and Kirby?

Doesn't fit. Very shitty stuff here. Raph is supposed to be the tough guy with attitude so why bring in Kirby? Only a female fifth turtle would make sense but even then its needless.

The fab four are fine as they are.

Wow, dodged a bullet there! These are all shit. With the exception of Evil April. That was nice, but screw the rest!
