Conceptual illustrator, Carlos Huante, created character designs for Tim Story's Fantastic Four (2005) and Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). Carlos came up with some dramatically different designs for Juggernaut (Vinnie Jones), Dr. Henry "Hank" McCoy/Beast (Kelsey Grammer), Doctor Doom (Julian McMahon), and The Thing (Michael Chiklis).

Why do they always have to show the face?

Still wouldn't have saved these horrendous movies.
CharlesTheIncredible - 2/9/2013, 11:21 AM
some of these are downright terrible
ATrueHero1987 - 2/9/2013, 11:22 AM
2005(except Batman Begins & Sin City) & 2006 were a BAD year for CBMs. Don't even get me started about 2007.
CmdrGrimlock - 2/9/2013, 11:27 AM
I'll give credit to Fox's FF....at least they looked like the source material. Those Dr. Doom's remind me of Deadpool from XMen Origins
reverendjonnynemo - 2/9/2013, 11:28 AM
@scabs

because most actors refuse to spend that much time on film with the majority or all of their faces covered.
LoudLon - 2/9/2013, 11:29 AM
I still hate -- hate, hate, hate -- what they did with Doom in the FF flicks. A human lightning rod? Bitch, please! It's Dr. Doom!

Too bad they didn't go with that other Juggie design of XM:TLS. The one they went with...no. That's not Juggernaut. I don't know what the hell that is.
Pesmerga44 - 2/9/2013, 11:32 AM
I love the picture of Juggernaut standing next to Wolverine with him looking like a gigantic white Steve Urkel with the raised up pants it gave me a good laugh. Most of these looked atrocious and I am real glad they didn't go with those designs. The only one I kinda liked was the last Thing one since it game him a bulkier look which the Thing is really bulky.
skidz - 2/9/2013, 11:34 AM
Why torture us with images we're all trying to leave behind???
Darthzilla - 2/9/2013, 11:39 AM
So they got the Juggernaut look right the first time then gradually worked their way too ruining him? [frick] X3.
CaptainObvious - 2/9/2013, 12:03 PM
Dr. Doom in the FF movies was so not Dr. Doom, I'm not going to call him that. From this day forth, he shall be known as Pussy McManChild.
Mercwitham0uth - 2/9/2013, 12:03 PM
@jCameron

FOX = [frick]ing Over X-Men.
Funsize - 2/9/2013, 12:08 PM
Beast looks badass
buzzman - 2/9/2013, 12:14 PM
If Juggernaut had looked like the first concept drawing instead of that gay helmet thing, it might have made him look a little closer to the comics. But, bad is bad. I don't mind the look of Dr. Doom in the movies, the Thing needs a bit of a redo, but other than that, it's the actual script that needs work.
Taboggon - 2/9/2013, 12:15 PM
juggernaut was always going to be difficult to adapt for film, at least they had a stab at it.
And beast came out pretty well.
sKeemAn - 2/9/2013, 12:20 PM
Juggie and Doom look awful. Beast is ok, love his hair. Thing looks cool
1ncredibleJ0C - 2/9/2013, 12:27 PM
not bein fruit like or nothin but i like beast with no clothes better i looks like a blue were wolf in those pics lookin badass though
juggernuat needed some work in the movies in my opinion they jus picked a shitty actor to play him i thought
dr. doom was cool to me so no complaints there
tripttwe - 2/9/2013, 12:29 PM
I liked the Beast, the concept was even better though. Juggs should have/ could have been better, and I don't think we'll see a good Doom until it reverts back to MARVEL...
BANE5000 - 2/9/2013, 12:54 PM
FF Reboot: Fully CGI The Thing w/ Jeffrey Dean Morgan doing Mo-cap and voice for the character :]
storyteller - 2/9/2013, 1:02 PM
They have got to really get over this fear of not showing the actors face. The comic book characters wear a mask. Stop trying to show their face. The audience will accept it. The X-men series really needs to push past this "clothes that mimic costumes".
Bobevanz - 2/9/2013, 1:21 PM
I second ElgUaSoN
TheBloodCrow - 2/9/2013, 1:39 PM
Juggernaut looks like an upside down jell-o cup
fangz - 2/9/2013, 1:45 PM
Wow, Doctor Doom is probably one of the easiest comic book characters to translate to a movie. I would think just do him exactly like the comics.
Have him never take his mask off and make his costume basically all physical, just touch ups in CGI.
And then hire a great voice actor, and someone cheap but serviceable for the few pre-accident scenes. if those are even necessary.

He's not supposed to look modernized at all, that's part of what's rad about him. He should kinda have that retro, Universal Pictures monster movie look. That would actually make him look scary.
Joe6Pack74 - 2/9/2013, 1:57 PM
Juggernaut looks alot like Ram Man.
poop23 - 2/9/2013, 2:06 PM
That juggernaut concept is so horrible. Beast came out well in the film. Kinda wish Juggernaut would've look more like his comicbook counterpart. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 probably had the best approach to his costume. None the less he was still one of the highlights of the Last Stand
CaptainObvious - 2/9/2013, 2:35 PM
@ELgUaSoN- Poor, poor you. Still stuck in the past and refuses to move on.
IronTwigg - 2/9/2013, 2:43 PM
Juggernauts first helmet looks like a bucket
IIIAdamantiumIII - 2/9/2013, 2:43 PM
owww my eyes!! MY EYES!!!!!!!!
MrYurMomm - 2/9/2013, 3:27 PM

HOW THE PHUQ COULD THEY HAVE MESSED UP MORE IN THE PRE-PRODUCTION THAN THE OUTCOME OF THE ACTUAL MOVIE! C'MON!

*sighs* okay, its all out (:
SpideyQuad - 2/9/2013, 4:10 PM
OMG, haven't these artists ever opened a comic book these drawing boards hideous, with the one exception of the first Juggernaut. No wonder Fox had no clue, the guys drawing the storyboard's had no clue.

Well, I hope they've learned their lesson now they have a real comic book roots kind of guy running the show.

Honestly, they should give back the Fantastic Four solely on principle and how badly they screwed that up. Wishful thinking
NovaCorpsfan - 2/9/2013, 5:28 PM
I can't see the pics cos of my shitty laptop, but from the comments, and the already horrible character renditions I'm gonna guess they sucked :)
deanwilkins - 2/9/2013, 5:32 PM
Such bad films. Wow. And they could have been so much worse.
MisterMagurlypse - 2/9/2013, 5:36 PM
What is wrong with the G##damn look of these characters to begin with? I understand you have to change it a little but, for real, these go way to far! Juggy pisses me off the most! What the hell, is that Astronaut Juggernaut, Bucket head Juggernaut and Gladiator Juggernaut?
CoulsonLives - 2/9/2013, 6:04 PM
JCameron Really?
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 2/9/2013, 7:07 PM
Anything beats the Juggernaut we got in the movie.
SuperSpiderMan5778 - 2/9/2013, 7:22 PM
so they had a chance to get juggs and beast right? [frick] u hollywood
Pooh - 2/9/2013, 8:25 PM
Juggernaut looks more like the comics. Isn't that a good thing?

I wish they'd stop trying to feminize Dr. Doom. Dr Doom is not effeminate.
mgeoff88 - 2/10/2013, 1:08 AM
The Beast concept art is awesome! I wish they would've gone with that fourth Juggernaut design instead.

That is so much better than the Juggernaut we got.
EarOne - 2/10/2013, 2:59 AM
one of the Juggernaut concept looks looks like TLOR's uruk-hai.

and i kinda like one of the Doom concepts.

The Thing WOULD look cool if realized as a CG creation and NOT the body suit/makeup.

Beast...well..as awesome as those artworks look, that hair style just won't work in live action. even Wolverine's do in the first three x-men flicks now look ridiculous.
JacksonVegaIII - 2/10/2013, 5:06 AM
beast pics are amazing
StephenStrange - 2/10/2013, 5:27 AM
What horrible movies these both were.
Vital - 2/10/2013, 5:33 AM
For concept art they are very cool, regardless of their accuracy. People that say they are terrible have no business on this site or liking comic books in general, as they are all artwork. Not to mention that none of you [frick]ing dipshit haters could even draw anything remotely this good lol. Put a sock in it. Please. Some of you are [frick]ing embarassing.
Bark4Soul - 2/10/2013, 8:22 AM
Why do they hire these dumb european artists who have these dramatic ideas instead of an established Marvel one. It's simple, go down through the history of the character, look at every costume they've worn and find one that works on the big screen, instead u get that half assed open can opener look we got for Juggs, blech
Pooh - 2/10/2013, 10:39 AM
I enjoyed the first Fantastic Four movie. Great director. Great music. I just wish they'd stop trying to feminize Dr. Doom.

When I think of what a dud X3 was I think of the juggernaut costume.

Shadowmaster35 - 2/10/2013, 11:37 AM
Actually reallllly happy they didn't go with any of those. wow
Franshu - 2/10/2013, 11:54 AM
@Vital, I couldn't have said it better.

The art is good, even though the designs might be terible (specially those Dr doom ones). But, in the end, we got what we got, for better or for worse.

And there was some j*rk before who said "how could they mess it up more in pre production than in production?"... Pre-production is a time, on thebart department aspect, dedicated to brainstorming. You can't actually "mess things up", unless they end up on the actual film. So, please, shut the f*ck up.
MisterMagurlypse - 2/10/2013, 3:27 PM

haroldthehand - 2/10/2013, 5:00 PM
The FF movies were just fine if you were a little kid.. But they we're too dumb for anyone over 12.. And whoever the idiot was that used the term "gay" as an insult in these posts needs to grow up. Stop being a complete idiot. "Gay" is not an insult.. It's a term to describe happiness or homosexuality.. Not to describe something that you don't like.. unless you hate gay people.. Then I suggest you stop watching movies or reading comics because they are full of them.
pepe - 2/11/2013, 7:02 AM
What da h*ll is this crap...?
fangz - 2/15/2013, 1:22 PM
@Bark4Soul - u really think it has to do with being European? how does that make sense? what defines this Euro-style you're talking about.
I've never lived in Europe, I grew up in Los Angeles, but u wouldn't believe the amount of talentless hacks i've met there, some of them even employed in various levels of the entertainment industry.

mediocre people are spread pretty evenly across the world. that's something we should all be able to agree on i would've thought.
