This week, filming for Christopher Nolan’s big-budget sci-fi movie commenced in Fort Macloed, which is located in Alberta, Canada. The star of the film, Matthew McConaughey, and his fellow actors John Lithgow, Jessica Chastain and Topher Grace were all spotted on set. Most of the action has taken place on the town's Main Street. There, Nolan has had his crew using industrial-sized fans to whip up a blinding dust storm. Then vehicles with actors, such as McConaughey with John Lithgow, drove through the storm in a pickup truck.

A local paper, the Fort Macleod Gazette, has some additional information about the film:
"Set in the future, the movie details the toll climate change has taken on agriculture, with corn the last crop to be cultivated. The scientists embark on a journey through a worm hole into other dimensions in search of somewhere other crops can be grown."

They take a big budget movie and make the basis of the story around farming crops in other dimensions? Really?
40oz - 8/29/2013, 7:07 PM
Sounds odd. But then again, he did make some pretty sweet movies about a guy in a rubber suit running around on rooftops.
MiVigilante - 8/29/2013, 7:11 PM
Pumped I am. More pumped than I am at the notion of Justin Verlander being traded from the tigers
The13thDoctor - 8/29/2013, 7:11 PM
Malekith.... don't forget, Luke Skywalker stared out as a farmer and his movies turned out pretty ok. ;)
marvel72 - 8/29/2013, 7:14 PM

ALegendaryPanda - 8/29/2013, 7:14 PM

THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/29/2013, 7:16 PM
God, I can't wait. All of Nolans films bring be back to Star Wars before they were CGI shit. Practical effects, quality film making.
EdgyOutsider - 8/29/2013, 7:16 PM
I am yet more intruiged by this new info. It just sounds right that they went that route. Topher Grace, woohoo!! Now, give me set pics of Wes Bentley. My two favorite cast members of the entire ensemble.
ImTheCaptainOfThisShip - 8/29/2013, 7:17 PM

FrenzyFreak - 8/29/2013, 7:20 PM
Sounds like an idea a retarded fourth grader would come up with, but hey, it f*cking Nolan. I trust he'll find a way to make people traveling the universe to find corn interesting.
MrCBM56 - 8/29/2013, 7:22 PM
Lol, the plot does sound silly, but so did Inception. I'm intrigued by the plot and cast. Movie of 2014, can't wait!
FrenzyFreak - 8/29/2013, 7:23 PM
Hahah Im picturing it now, the climax will be a massive shootout/bloodbath for three cobs of corn.
FrenzyFreak - 8/29/2013, 7:24 PM
Oh oh I bet Nolan will use the massive nuclear bomb in TDKR that should have killed everyone as the cause for the intergalactic corn famine!!
marvel72 - 8/29/2013, 7:28 PM
if nolan needs to find corn,he doesn't need a wormhole he can visit my brown hole.
thewonderer - 8/29/2013, 7:32 PM
LOL Searching for other planets that can produce food we need to survive.

SO FUNNY STUPID PLOT LMAO NOLAN SO STUPIED
FrenzyFreak - 8/29/2013, 7:32 PM
@BlackJack Verlander aint going anywhere, man. No one would give up the amount he would be asked for and no one wants to take on that kinda dough.
marvel72 - 8/29/2013, 7:32 PM
so nolan won't ever make a shit movie, well he's made an average one.

the dark knight rises
FrenzyFreak - 8/29/2013, 7:33 PM

@Marvel72, The Dark Knight Rises was an amazing movie on a technical level. If you didnt like the story, that's just your opinion.
nailbiter111 - 8/29/2013, 7:40 PM
marvel72 - I'm gonna poop in your lunchbox if you say that again.
SigmaCenturion - 8/29/2013, 7:40 PM
Sounds really stupid.
thewonderer - 8/29/2013, 7:40 PM
Rises is levels above Avengers
Asterisk - 8/29/2013, 7:42 PM
WHAT'S FOREMAN DOING IN THIS MOVIE!

My foot's about to create an interstellar wormhole-- up his ass!
Minato - 8/29/2013, 7:43 PM
The Direction, Cinematography, Score, and Acting (other than Talias death) were all top notch in TDKR but the script severely pissed me off. For Nolan to make some very intelligent movies that one is clearly made for idiots.
SnapperCarr - 8/29/2013, 7:45 PM
This sounds interesting.
That gif gets me every time.
BobGarlen - 8/29/2013, 7:50 PM
So Christopher Nolan Is making a big budget Sci-Fi cultural commentary on the misery of the dust-bowl, and the sufficient hope beset by FDR and his policies while exploring the ideas set out by president FDR and his cabinet to enhance situation aiding the American farmers, being replaced with Outer Space, Worm Holes, and planetary exploration and fun action.

Sounds amazing, really excited.
3DWitchHunt - 8/29/2013, 7:51 PM
SO [frick]ING PUMPED
FrenzyFreak - 8/29/2013, 7:52 PM
@Wonderbread Just like a big mac is levels above a prime rib.
EdgyOutsider - 8/29/2013, 7:54 PM
Just to put my opinion in here, TDKR is REALLY good but The Avengers is the best superhero movie. [frick] realism.

As I said, Wes Bentely and Topher Grace are my most looked forward to actors in the film (Topher Grace is also underrated in my opinion). Not a fan of Mackenzie Foy. Everyone else are great casting additions.
xfan320 - 8/29/2013, 7:54 PM
Has anyone else taken notice to McConaughey's resurgence???

He was always my TOP choice for CAP, but I think it's funny how he has gone back down to a "normal" physique (ie.- no crazy tan and working out 15 hrs a day) and now he's geting leading roles again...

Hmmm...
Ramiel - 8/29/2013, 7:54 PM
So a movie about GMO corn, eh?
MrCBM56 - 8/29/2013, 7:59 PM
EdgyOutsider

we'll look at you! You're supporting a Nolan movie, admitted TDKR was really good...what the [frick] happened to you?

:p
AsianVersionOfET - 8/29/2013, 8:05 PM
Damnit Nail, you scared the [frick] outta me! This looks SO AWESOME.
harley2011 - 8/29/2013, 8:07 PM
Is Jensen Ackles in this?

Anyway, this sounds like an great movie.

Also TDKR, obviously was much better than the cartoon for little kids, aka the Avengers.
Rokyn - 8/29/2013, 8:07 PM
Some of you are incorrectly reading into this. It states that corn is one of the last crops left to be cultivated and they have to reach out into the unknown to find new/other crops to cultivate. Adds bit more of a purpose to reach out into the unknown. It's not simply a movie about corn and details are obscure at best right now. Anyhow seems to be a classic science fiction idea very similar to those ideas of early. TOS/TNG Trek, SG1 Gate, Twilight Zone, and other works of science fiction. I like that Nolan is working on Sci-Fy since it's his favorite genre and he most of time makes celebral films. Film has a lot of potential, great cast, and a great director so let's see what happens.
NOLANITE - 8/29/2013, 8:26 PM
Thats what I call GOD.
NOLANITES WILL RISE AGAIN.

NOLANITE OUT.
