No, No, No, NO, NO, NO, NO. Godzilla(2014) Is NOT an official source and only generates a veneer of credibility by poaching stories and videos from other sites after they've already been released. Expecting them to reliably predict anything, ESPECIALLY a concrete date for a trailer, is just asking to be disappointed. I distinctly remember they predicted that the trailer would be posted online immediately after ComicCon, and that certainly didn't happen. They also have a long history of baseless speculation about the film's composer, whether the monsters in the new movie will include Hedorah (!?), and other things.

The only reason I can guess for them making this claim is that November 3 is the anniversary of the original Gojira's release date, meaning they're just rolling the dice and hoping for the best.

I'm excited, but seriously, Big Effing Deal. Why is this news? Why don't the just show it instead of telling us when they're going to show it?

Hey everyone, I'm Chris, from Scified who posted the article referenced above. I think there's some confusion with regards to what I posted?

The date is purely speculation. In the article (http://www.godzilla-movies.com/news/1200) I state that no official date has been set as Legendary could not provide me with the details and to add - I also repeatedly mention that the article is a speculative piece. Not news.

I'm just as hyped up and pumped to see this trailer as many of you are, and the date of Nov 3rd, makes A LOT of sense, given that it is Godzilla's 59th Anniversary. Not to mention, Legendary has already shown interest in paying homage to the original in many ways, just look at what they did for the Godzilla Encounter. I mention all of this in my article. But again, regardless of the outcome, this was purely speculation.

Secondly I felt the need to register and comment, to address Volksgrenadier's comment.

@Volksgrenadier - I don't think you're talking about the same site I run. We never "poach" stories.. in fact, an article I posted was copied word-for-word and pasted here on CBM by a contributor. Not to call anyone out, but I would like to add I did not slander this site's credibility as a result.

Secondly, you might forget that we were the first source on the net to post on-set photos from the Godzilla shoot in Vancouver. We've also been on top of the latest scoops for the upcoming Godzilla film and continue to provide accurate and legitimate news, whether it be from our source or a third-party website (as well as speculation - because we are a blog, privately owned and operated and we are perfectly within our right to do so).

No, we are not an "official source", you are correct about that. We are not directly affiliated with any of the Studios involved with Godzilla's production - but the news we do post is correct and accurate.

You also mention that we predicted that the trailer would be posted online immediately after ComicCon - which is simply not true. Again, not sure where you're getting these allegations from, but I assure you, we did no such thing. Perhaps you're confused by one of our questions to our followers, in which we asked if fans were hoping the trailer would debut following Comic-Con? We do interact with our following often and do ask questions and engage in fan discussion - but again, we never claimed the trailer would be released at any given time.

And finally, you said "They also have a long history of baseless speculation about the film's composer, whether the monsters in the new movie will include Hedorah (!?), and other things."

- First off, that "baseless speculation" was not originated by us. We caught wind of it on the "Twittersphere" and posted up an article saying "could it be?" Not in any way confirming the info to be official or legitimate. With regards to the composer mix-up, that was one occurrence in which (what a shocker) IMDB's info was inaccurate. But again - if you check out the original post - we structured the title to not insinuate confirmation, and we also mentioned in both the original posting and the prompt edit following clarification, that it was "possible", yet not confirmed.

Users of this site especially should know that when running a Movie blog or fansite, you roll with news and speculation - speculation gets fans talking and it's what makes discussion forums and comments section have purpose. But again, I will re-iterate, that we have never posted "baseless speculation" or inaccurate/false news.

Before you slander a website's credibility publicly, I encourage you to read up on your facts and get them straight. Because in this instance, you are incorrect and I don't appreciate your "baseless accusations" towards my website(s) and my work. I clearly explain any "speculation" in the posts I make and I also ensure news is accurate and official before claiming it to be so.

Now, I do apologize to the rest of the commentators in this thread for having to read my block of text. I don't visit this site too often, but this article caught my attention, thinking the actual trailer date had been revealed - oh the irony, haha.

But to contribute something positive - I do think the 59th Anniversary for Godzilla would be a perfect opportunity for Legendary to release the trailer and start hyping up Godzilla. It's hard to say it doesn't make sense - because it does! By Nov 3rd, we'll be at the 7 month countdown. Not too much time for an effective marketing campaign to capture the attention of the general public. I think waiting for the 59th Anniversary will more so be a nod to the fans and a homage to the original film (If it in fact drops on that date.)

fingers crossed!
