Rorschach & Comedian Concept Art From Abandoned WATCHMEN Video Game

Conceptual illustrator Roger Robinson, worked very briefly on BottleRocket's video game adaptation of Zack Snyder's Watchmen. They ended up walking away from the project, and all we are left with is some cool art of The Comedian and Rorschach. Check it out!

Someone's killing our super heroes. The year is 1985 and super heroes have banded together to respond to the murder of one of their own. They soon uncover a sinister plot that puts all of humanity in grave danger. The super heroes fight to stop the impending doom only to find themselves a target for annihilation. But, if our super heroes are gone, who will save us?

Watchmen (2009) was directed by Zack Snyder ("Man Of Steel"), from a screenplay written by David Hayter and Alex Tse. It's an adaptation of the comic book of the same name created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. The cast included: Malin Åkerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Patrick Wilson. On a budget of $130 million, the film pulled in $185 million.

Such a damn great movie.
nailbiter111 - 12/14/2013, 11:16 AM
Much better? What are you Norman Rockwell? It's pitch art, not finished art.
TheIlluminati - 12/14/2013, 11:16 AM
This movie scared the shit outta me 😁
yonny616 - 12/14/2013, 11:21 AM
Wait, I thought the did make a Watchmen video game?

Wasn't called "Watchmen: The End Is Nigh".
Namor - 12/14/2013, 11:22 AM
I loved Watchmen! Comedian vs Ozy in the opening scene was freaking epic!
shangho - 12/14/2013, 11:32 AM
Good flick!Unfortunately underrated by fans when compared to the Graphic Novel......
Bigred20 - 12/14/2013, 11:34 AM

JoeMomma29 - 12/14/2013, 11:37 AM
One of the best CBMs out there! Some of the best fight scenes ever!
SuperCat - 12/14/2013, 11:43 AM
Art looks good to me. Favorite 2 characters from "Watchmen."
Stubner - 12/14/2013, 11:44 AM
They did make a video game.... I own it and am looking at it as I type this.
nailbiter111 - 12/14/2013, 11:55 AM
Stubner & Bigred20 - BottleRocket didn't make THAT game, another company did.
batcheeks8 - 12/14/2013, 11:57 AM
Amazing movie, one of the best adaptations I've ever seen.
Christuffer - 12/14/2013, 11:59 AM
That looks gorram amazing.

I still think that Lego should do "Lego Watchmen". I've already begun designing the game on paper myself
BANE5000 - 12/14/2013, 12:03 PM
@Namor

I thought the Comedian fought a goon Ozy hired in the opening scene?...I need to watch the movie again to be sure
ALmazing - 12/14/2013, 12:15 PM
Watchmen: The End Is Nigh wasn't a good game. Not surprised they cancel this one.
HeisenbergSaysRelax - 12/14/2013, 12:15 PM
@BANE5000 During the flashback to the fight, when Ozy is telling his plan to Rorschach and Nite-Owl, they cut to where Comedian is about to be thrown and it's revealed Ozy's face and that he was the one who did it.
SAZMD - 12/14/2013, 1:04 PM
Best opening credits ever. Although Zombieland's opening was pretty good too.
chewish - 12/14/2013, 1:12 PM
Am I the only one that doesn't like The Comedian's costume at all (in the book and the movie)? All the other characters' outfits are perfect, yet I don't know why I detest The Comedian's so much.
calin88 - 12/14/2013, 2:13 PM
Why do I have a feeling that a Telltale's Watchmen Game would be awesome, also wouldn't min WBM, after finishing Origins and Suicide Squad, making a Watchmen game with Arkham-style gameplay
MercSoul - 12/14/2013, 3:39 PM
@yonny616 that game is a prequel of the movie
yonny616 - 12/14/2013, 3:43 PM
@MercSoul Yeah I know, but it's still a game.
valeriesghost - 12/14/2013, 4:29 PM
Please, this might be the best CBM made. At least in the top 4 or 5.
valeriesghost - 12/14/2013, 4:30 PM
BTW, i read Watchmen about once a year and have for years. It's on my yearly cycle with LOTR. The movie was fantastic IMHO
ALmazing - 12/14/2013, 4:39 PM
@intruder- I think the only people who got it were those who read the graphic nobel, I mean who would understand what Bubastis was if they never read the comics?

Image

But I have to admit, as a huge fan of the graphic nobel, I am not a fan of the movie version, I mean, Ozzie nipples?

Bl00dwerK - 12/14/2013, 4:59 PM
I hated that one Watchmen game. It gave me a 1 pt. achievement...
pointman - 12/14/2013, 7:13 PM
Even though there were things wrong with the translation I respected Snyder's vision. It was a visually great movie and all of the actors worked their butts off to deliver.
BANE5000 - 12/14/2013, 8:33 PM
@HeisenbergSaysRelax
@1to10youLose

Oh ok, thanks and thanks :]
MightyZeus - 12/14/2013, 9:13 PM
Interesting concept art. I would have been interested to have played this game if it where released.
johan02 - 12/14/2013, 11:35 PM
Ok on JUST the artwork, meh. I know its just concept art but either their arms are too long or their legs are yoo short, on both characters. Second Rorschach looks WAY too bulky in the character concept. The poster style ones are ok.

Now as for the topic of weather or not the movie was a good adaptation is REALLY a 50/50 no matter what way you look at. Its SO dead on in most parts, its the ONLY movie I can think of where you can literally hold the graphic novel up to the screen and its the same on both. And yes the Ultimate Cut is the way to go if you love the book. Sadly these spot on scenes are also its downfall. When you have so many things looking right out of the book the slightest difference topples the whole house of cards. And lets face it, Nite Owl and Ozzys costumes aside, there was a MAJOR difference and screwup with that ending. Not to mention little things missing and others being added, but imho ALL the little thing couldve been overlooked if not for the ending.
Heres the thing I find funny, some not many but I have heard some fsult the movie for being too close to the novel. So when it comes right down to it, like MOST things your either gona love it or hate. Its not one of those movies like Star Wars where 95.9% love it with a small margin of haters.
Speaking personally, I loved it as a whole. The end pissed me off but I knew months before the release that it wasnt gona be the giant alien squid thing, do it didnt kill the movie for me on first viewing. And when I got the Ultimate Cut well that really cemented it for ME that Watchmen is THE BEST comic to film adaptation yet. Not saying the best CBM, just best adaptation.
So far imho there hasnt been a CBM made yet to take that title. Yeah your ALL gona say TDK, and it was great, but I hate the 1 thing EVERYONE loves. I dont wana get of topic here but I have to say this in the hopes SOMEONE sees what I do. HEATH LEDGER WAS A HORRIBLE JOKER!!!!! Yeah ok he went over yhe top and delivered a great performance of an insane man, but WHERE WERE THE PUNS????? WHY DIDNT THE JOKER MAKE ANY JOKES????? WHY WASNT THE CLOWN PRICE OF CRIME FUNNY???? There I said it. Ive said it before BUT NOBODY EVER SEEMS TO LISTEN!!!!!!!!
Seejay - 12/15/2013, 1:19 AM

Great movie.
Natetrix79 - 12/15/2013, 3:34 AM
The pencil in the eye funny as hell, & The Joker walking around in that nurses uniform tryna blowup the hospital FREAKING HILAROUS!!!!
Natetrix79 - 12/15/2013, 3:44 AM
And Watchmen was epic my friends, look at the changes made in ither comicbook movies The Amazing Spiderman, The X-Men movies, The Nolan Trilogy, Wanted(but I didn't think the evil shit dude was gonna make it anyway),& The Blade movies some were good & some were bad but none really stayed too close to the source material but Watchmen,300,& Sin City did & all 3 of them were amazing movies cause they took the essence of the book & put it on screen I really don't get all the hate Watchmen gets from some fans they nailed pretty much every character with the perfect actor/actress did they not???
CaptainSporty - 12/15/2013, 5:48 AM
DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
CaptainSporty - 12/15/2013, 5:53 AM
@yommy

this is for a totally seper part 1ate game. and yes they did makt "the end is nigh" as a game. Two games, really.
CaptainSporty - 12/15/2013, 5:54 AM
that is what happens trying to type fast with one hand...
TheBatman3000 - 12/15/2013, 11:06 PM
@johan02- you made some okay points but the ending wasn't ruined as long as it's the same result then it's all good they got the point and if anything they got the point even more than the book....ozzy already made Manhattan go emotional on live tv so the world already saw him go a little nuts then boom blame it all on manhattan you don't need this huge complicated plan where he had to make some weird huge genetically engineered squid...and only attack New York then have the world unite...why? If anything Russia would be happy that shit happened to them....in the movie he blows up key cities that would make the world stand notice....and plus I never liked that silk specter and niteowl were cool about this like naked on the floor like hippies...the movie made them disgusted with it...they understood it but they still acted human...like dan says you didn't save humanity..you deformed it..that's the real practical joke....and talking about jokes...see what I did there lol Heath was [frick]ing excellent as joker! He did make movies goers laugh...and scared...just because he doesn't make some dumb ass pun doesn't make him a good joker? Psh [frick]er is crazy...Heath got jokers psychotic nature...he was fearless unlike jacks joker were he ended up being a pussy in the end lol
