G.I. Joe: Retaliation director, Jon M. Chu ("Justin Bieber: Never Say Never"), was recently interviewed by MTV News, and was asked if Channing Tatum's Duke, who died in the last film, could return for the third live-action G.I. Joe. Check it out.

In Jon M. Chu's G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the President of the United States (played by Jonathan Pryce), who is actually Zartan in disguise orders the United States military to kill the Joes. During the ambush Duke (played by Channing Tatum) is blown to smithereens while trying to get Flint (played D.J. Cotrona) to safety. So, that should be all for Duke, right? Maybe not. Jon M. Chu recently signed on to direct the next G.I. Joe film tells MTV News there is a shot Duke might rise from the grave.

"You never know. Storm Shadow died in the first one and came back in the second one, and then other characters have died and never come back. The G.I. Joe world, the best thing about it is you never know who's coming back and who's not." - MTV News

In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy, Cobra, they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. The film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. Directed by Jon M. Chu, and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Brian Goldner, written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick based on Hasbro’s G.I. Joe® characters. On Blu-ray & DVD!

If they know what's good for the franchise, don't bring back the actor, bring back the character.
RodimusPryme - 12/16/2013, 5:22 AM
I personally thought Retaliation got 1000x better once Duke died.
MrMartinMarvel - 12/16/2013, 5:24 AM
Here's a better idea. How about Duke stays dead, and then everybody else get's killed off too?
Dmon - 12/16/2013, 5:26 AM
He has gotten better as an actor and his scenes with the Rock were the best parts of G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
kevberg - 12/16/2013, 5:30 AM
ARRRGGHHHHH...Nooooo..

get Mark Valley for Duke. He actually looks closer, and a better actor 10 times over.
HulkDraxGroot - 12/16/2013, 5:43 AM
both movies sucked arse.
Sentry - 12/16/2013, 5:43 AM
These movies are terrible, just so bad on every conceivable level.
SuperCat - 12/16/2013, 5:47 AM
I want retaliation for spending money to watch this sh@t.
campblood - 12/16/2013, 5:49 AM
you never actually saw him die or his dead corpse.

he could have faked his death to do some real clandestine shit for the military
sameoldthing - 12/16/2013, 5:51 AM
Noooo!..Tatum is awful.
Best thing of 2nd movie was his death.
SuperCat - 12/16/2013, 5:53 AM
Making Roadblock the leader of the Joes is just wrong.

siggisuperman - 12/16/2013, 5:55 AM
Channing Tatum should tell those guys to [frick] themselves. They kill off his character as soon as Channing Tatum popularity started to dwindle and then when he is popular again after making some succesful appearences in the last year now they come back begging. Disrespectful, towards the actor and disrespectful towards the fans, since it shows that the story of the movie makes no difference to them, they just care about star power
CherryBomb - 12/16/2013, 6:02 AM
The sequel was a lot of fun. A step up from the first.
I just want Cover Girl and Baroness back!
TheMexicanSuperman - 12/16/2013, 6:07 AM
@SuperCat, haha. I've seen a video similar to that gif, but with 3 soldiers.
TheMexicanSuperman - 12/16/2013, 6:10 AM
The first one sucked and I haven't seen the second GI Joe movie, so I don't care who they bring back.
ManCalledSting - 12/16/2013, 6:13 AM
The first one was a good movie, second was better. I don't think thy should have killed Duke. Other than Snake Eyes, he was the only returning Joe, plus Tatum has become a solid actor. He's not great, but decent. He could come back as a brainwashed baddie, who's redeemed at the end of the third one.
SuperSomething616 - 12/16/2013, 6:16 AM
Never saw his body so shouldn't be too hard to bring him back...and as he said Storm shadow died in the first one and he came back...
jimoakley666 - 12/16/2013, 6:20 AM
These movies look like utter wank. I'm amazed they didn't just reboot it as a proper action movie and not a silly live action cartoon. Surely audiences would want something more along the lines Predator meets Three Kings than Team America crossed with Battle Shit, if the first movie's silly suits are anything to go by.
Dmon - 12/16/2013, 6:26 AM
They did not have the silly suits in the second one. The 2nd is way better then the first and a fun movie.
MrNiklander - 12/16/2013, 6:31 AM
I never had an issue with Tatum as Duke but come on this bullshit.Retribution sucked ass
Nymphadora - 12/16/2013, 6:34 AM
I need Scarlett and Snake Eyes.....
MrNiklander - 12/16/2013, 6:37 AM
@Dmon yeah sure it was fun movie.......not.Stormshadow was a good guy after all,Duke gets killed so Dwayne Johnson can save the movie(Which not even the awesomeness of Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson couldn't save that mess of a movie)
are you serious supernatural gif
CharlesLord - 12/16/2013, 6:47 AM
please....leave him dead
Space - 12/16/2013, 6:52 AM
just keep him dead
Minghagz - 12/16/2013, 7:01 AM
2nd movie was better the minute Duke died. Duke is a cool character and all but the fact that the character was butchered by that [frick] stick means that he should just stay dead.

Channing Tatum is a C|_|NT.
Enphlieuwince - 12/16/2013, 7:02 AM
Damn @nibs, tell 'em how you really feel. Lol...
Enphlieuwince - 12/16/2013, 7:03 AM
Guess nobody here is looking forward to a crossover with Transformers. Lmao!
CommanderCobra74 - 12/16/2013, 7:12 AM
Retaliation was a step in the right direction, not perfect, but an improvement on the first film. Leave Duke dead. Bring back Scarlett, but make her actually behave like Scarlett. We need Shipwreck, Tunnel Rat, Low-Light, etc...And bring Scrap-Iron or Copperhead on board for Cobra. Finally, let's see the Commander with his hood on, please!!!
grifdeadpoolteabag - 12/16/2013, 7:27 AM
Look how Corky grew up; so happy he still has a career.
ALmazing - 12/16/2013, 7:31 AM
Tatum has his moments but no thanks.

GUNSMITH - 12/16/2013, 7:38 AM
WELL...THEY COULD SAY....

THE DUKE THAT DIED WAS A LIFE MODEL DECOY CLONE..

THE BARONESS FINDS DUKES BODY AN REVIVES HIM WITH COBRA TECHNOLOGY ...

THE REAL DUKE DIED BUT THE COBRA COMMANDER RECREATES ANOTHER FRIGGN DUKE FROM SAMPLES HE TOOK FROM HIM WHEN HE CAUGHT HIM LAST TIME...
SigmaCenturion - 12/16/2013, 7:41 AM
Yeah give him another chance as Duke. He wasn't that bad in white house down.
MCUfan1 - 12/16/2013, 7:44 AM
Both movies sucked.
KraftB0X - 12/16/2013, 7:51 AM
They're pretty fun movies. I enjoyed them to some extent....

Ch-ch-ch-Channing. Channing is the best!
Enphlieuwince - 12/16/2013, 7:52 AM
Say what you will about him, but, he was funny as hell in The Dilemma.

fanDomX - 12/16/2013, 7:56 AM
the best part of the movie was when he died.
fnawpoeuf - 12/16/2013, 7:56 AM
Thanks a bunch for the spoiler, Google/ComicBookMovie. I haven't seen the second movie yet. I only searched Google for "Channing Tatum" and the first thing that came up was "Channing Tatum's Duke Resurrected For G.I. JOE 3?"
ruadh - 12/16/2013, 8:03 AM
How long has this been on bluray/dvd, and this is the best video available?

That looked pretty final to me, but yeah...whatevs. One must suspend a lot of disbelief for the GI Joes movies in the first place.
MercwithMouth - 12/16/2013, 8:04 AM
Meh, both movies are terrible, but I love them both. Into the "So bad they're good" pile they go.
DudeGuyMan - 12/16/2013, 8:15 AM
Unless Hasbro starts to hate money, the answer is yes.
