Toy Fair '14: Red Skull Figure Apart Of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Toyline
Today, at the New York Toy Fair Hasbro unveiled their toyline for Marvel's upcoming film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The character was originally played by Hugo Weaving ("The Matrix") in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger.
Near the end of the 2011 film, Captain America: The First Avenger, the Red Skull/Johann Schmidt (played by Hugo Weaving) is last seen clutching the Tesseract. That is when the cube begins to give off some tremendous power that sucks the Red Skull into a beam of energy that shoots up through the roof of the plane and into, what appears to be another realm. Thus, we don't know if he live or if he died. It's a mystery. But, perhaps that mystery has been solved today at the New York Toy Fair. There, during Hasbro's presentation they unveiled their Captain America: The Winter Soldier toyline and oddly enough it included a Red Skull action figure. Perhaps, he will just appear in a flashback, or perhaps not.
In fact, during Hasbro's presentation they introduced a number of figures that were inspired by comics, though branded as "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," including villain Baron Zemo, and a gigantic battle-suited Mandroid. The Red Skull was not part of this caveated line of toys.
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.
Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” features an outstanding supporting cast that includes Sebastian Stan (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Black Swan”) as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie (“The Hurt Locker,” “Million Dollar Baby”) as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Cobie Smulders (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “How I Met Your Mother”) as Agent Maria Hill, Frank Grillo (“Zero Dark Thirty”) as Brock Rumlow and Georges St-Pierre (“Death Warrior”) as Georges Batroc. Rounding out the talented cast are Hayley Atwell (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Peggy Carter, Toby Jones (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “The Hunger Games”) as Arnim Zola, Emily VanCamp (“The Ring 2,” “Revenge”) as Agent 13 and Maximiliano Hernández (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Thor”) as Agent Jasper Sitwell.
