This movie was perfectly made. Can't wait for the sequel
HavocPrime - 2/18/2014, 4:15 PM
That scene where he is stripped away to reveal whats left of him was really well done
rng86 - 2/18/2014, 4:15 PM
I doubt there will be a sequel... It didn't exactly do well at the box office.
nailbiter111 - 2/18/2014, 4:19 PM
rng86 - it actually made back it's budget already. gotta remember domestic box office isn't all that important any more. international sales will probably allow it to recoup it's marketing costs soon, and then all is profit.
gisele - 2/18/2014, 4:25 PM
its only been out less than a week...thought it was cool
Lenbert - 2/18/2014, 4:25 PM
Hey Nail put a spoiler warning in the headline, some images here sort of spoil some the points in the movie i.e spoiler* when they reveal how much is left of Murphy. Its a pretty powerful scene don't ruin it on people.

Terrible movie. Cliche, gratuitous, unnecessary.
DudeGuyMan - 2/18/2014, 4:40 PM
Wow really? Powerful?! The scene where Murphy's insides were exposed for an extended amount of time was powerful? More like powerfully lame. It was the definition of unnecessary. Not only did it not fit in with the movie, it was awkward and uncomfortable to watch.

No, it hasn't made its budget back, not even close.

Studios only receive 50% of box-office earnings, cinemas and taxes get the rest.

RoboCop needs to earn well over $200 million to break-even and get its budget back. $300 million for a sequel to be considered, if they haven't spent too much on marketing.

This is the reason why speculators think it might flop.

Haters have arrived.

This movie was spectacular for what it was. My only major critique? This remake should have been made when these unforgiving nostalgic [frick]ers had outlived their usefulness. Seriously, even Man of Steel was subject to the same bullshit.
Gmoney84 - 2/18/2014, 4:56 PM
I really want to see it.
AgentZero - 2/18/2014, 4:57 PM
MOVIE WAS AWESOME !!!

Don't see why people are complaining. Or is it the sheep mentality ?

"ROBOCOP IS HERE"
MikeKus34 - 2/18/2014, 4:59 PM
@REPOMAN - I dont know where exactly you heard that 50% goes to cinemas and taxes, but unless the tax for a ticket is near 50% itself, that percentage is far from true. I work for a theater and we only make roughly 3% to 4% off of every ticket sold (3 cents to every dollar), otherwise we're paying to rent the film itself from the studio, supplying them with more money.
DudeGuyMan - 2/18/2014, 5:01 PM
@Transforminator

The original was a classic for a reason. Not just so "nostalgic [frick]ers" could have something to complain about once Hollywood ran out of ideas.
DEATHbyEXILE - 2/18/2014, 5:08 PM
Awesome movie, surpassed my expectations.

REPOMAN - 2/18/2014, 5:09 PM

@MikeKus34

This very matter is why Regal cinemas went to war with Disney, because they demanded 65%:

"Last week, Regal and AMC Entertainment decided to stop selling advance tickets for "Iron Man 3," contending that Disney was seeking an excessively large take of the box office revenue -- up to 65%.

Cinemark, the nation's third-largest chain, also is not selling advance tickets for "Iron Man 3," according to a review of online ticketing service Fandango.

The demand for a bigger cut is not just for "Iron Man 3." Disney also wants better terms on other movies as well. Studios typically collect 50% to 55% of ticket sales, depending on the movie."

DudeGuyMan - 2/18/2014, 5:10 PM
@TankD

I didn't empathise with new-Murphy because his character was generic. And his family was just as equally boring. Sam Jackson and Gary Oldman were the only reasons keeping me from leaving the theater.
Vaportrail - 2/18/2014, 5:43 PM
Because old Murphy's character and family had so much depth.

I love the old Robocop, don't get me wrong, but some people put things like this on way too high a pedestal. They're all B-movies, relax.
It's entertainment. Enjoy it or don't, but if you don't, there's no reason to be a dick about it.
pointman - 2/18/2014, 5:45 PM
Haven't seen the movie yet so I will reserve my opinion for later. Love the concept art. Wish they would have stuck with the silver pieces or at least gave him a cop scene of blue and white or at least black and white.
SuperCat - 2/18/2014, 5:48 PM
Love these designs!

ROBOCOP Budget 100 million. Worldwide Total:$100,283,627

Pretty much guarantees a sequel when it makes enough monet the first weekend its out.
JVH - 2/18/2014, 6:19 PM
Really don't understand why this is getting so much hate. One of my favorite action movies to come out in the last couple of years.
ManCalledSting - 2/18/2014, 6:29 PM
I was pleasantly surprised by this one, and I would welcome a sequel. I liked it more than the orginal, and that's saying a lot. The part when they pulled everything away, to show Murphy what was left, was an amazingly powerful scene. The only thing I found unneeded, was Sam Jacksons phone in.
Mike89 - 2/18/2014, 6:32 PM
Much better than i thought i was going to be. not great but not bad either.
thewolfx - 2/18/2014, 6:34 PM

There was no reason to even have a black suit

Also for those sayin this movie was perfectly made youvr clearly didnt see the original

Ummmm I did feel spoiled by seeing how much of his body was left....I'm sorry it feels too spoiled forreal :( now I'm kinda disappointed and want to see the movie less now
JVH - 2/18/2014, 7:10 PM
"..you clearly didn't see the original"

This movie doesn't try to be the original. It is its own story. Honestly, I'd be pissed if it were just a shot-for-shot remake of the original..
CaptainProg - 2/18/2014, 7:19 PM
I grew up watching the original many times. Have the DVD and bluray. Have to admit though... This new movie is my favorite take on the character. The story is updated and exciting.

And haters...

cld247 - 2/18/2014, 7:22 PM
I love it... Seen it last Friday, And I have to say it was really good. And I hope it gets a sequal, it deserves it...
ibravosp5 - 2/18/2014, 7:38 PM
Hold up...now if he is just a head and lungs then how can u explain the human hand? What do they just put that back on or what?like if that hand a robot hand too with skin left on it I'm gonna be mad because that could've been covered up with a robot hand
