Arnold Schwarzenegger Will Play Aged Cyborg In TERMINATOR GENESIS

While promoting his upcoming film, Sabotage, Arnold Schwarzenegger tells MTV, "Terminator's flesh ages, just like any other human being's flesh." Thus, he'll be an aged cyborg in Alan Taylor's Terminator: Genesis. Hit the jump to get to da choppa!

James Cameron's 1984 film, The Terminator was a career-launching-role for the then 37 year old Arnold Schwarzenegger ("Predator") and he's not ready to let it go, even at age 66. Sure, the wrinkles have set in and his hair isn't as thick as it used to be, but Arnold won't let a little thing like age keep him from playing his favorite cyborg. He tells MTV, "The way that the character is written, it's a machine underneath," Schwarzenegger continued. "It's this metal skeleton. But above that is human flesh. And the Terminator's flesh ages, just like any other human being's flesh. Maybe not as fast. But it definitely ages."

"Terminator deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800,"
Arnold Schwarzenegger added, "and then what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie, but I feel so good."

Terminator: Genesis will be directed by Thor: The Dark World director Alan Taylor. It's the first of a planned trilogy. Then again, every film seems to be the first of a planned trilogy these days. This time Arnold is joined by Jason Clarke (John Connor), Emilia Clarke (Sarah Connor), Jai Courtney (Kyle Reese) and J.K. Simmons (police detective).

MisterPL - 3/25/2014, 1:08 PM
Still wishing they'd just make Schwarzenegger a human resistance leader that SkyNet modeled one of their terminators after.
MisterPL - 3/25/2014, 1:09 PM
@Yossarian

How DOESN'T a cyborg age? Everything ages.
Pasto - 3/25/2014, 1:09 PM
This is bullshit.
thebearjew - 3/25/2014, 1:09 PM

LewisD - 3/25/2014, 1:23 PM
Maybe John saves the T2 T-800 from the steel mill...

Why can't they just leave Arnold out the movie? They are trying way too hard.
johnblake - 3/25/2014, 1:25 PM
This is stupid. It's been clearly established that the living tissue does not age. That is one reason why they are easy to mass produce
Fray - 3/25/2014, 1:26 PM
Hmmm. Never thought about aging skin. Makes sense given that Kyle told Sarah that the Terminators sweat, have bad breath, etc. in the first movie.
Gmoney84 - 3/25/2014, 1:30 PM
It only makes sense that the Terminator's skin would age. In T2 the Terminator says, "I'm a cybernetic organism: living tissue over a metal endoskeleton."
xfan320 - 3/25/2014, 1:30 PM
That's a pretty cool concept actually...

I approve of this.

Maybe an alternate timeline where the Terminator never destroyed himself in T2?

Interesting what he said about there being a "younger" T-800 in this film. Wonder if he'll get to play the hero AND the villain in this?
SuperCat - 3/25/2014, 1:30 PM
Old as f*ck.
ManofSteel23 - 3/25/2014, 1:31 PM
''LIVING TISSUE'' makes sense
RandyWatson - 3/25/2014, 1:31 PM
They burn. They bleed. Why can't they age?
InfiniteMonkey - 3/25/2014, 1:32 PM
Emilia Clarke should be naked the entire time.
dio - 3/25/2014, 1:32 PM
Shit! He was 37 when he got the role?
PhilWillKIll - 3/25/2014, 1:33 PM
The idea goes with what they established in the first movie. "I'm a cybernetic organism, living tissue over metal endoskeleton." I for one am in.
Firgosaurus - 3/25/2014, 1:34 PM
That hide they put on the cyborg is made in china.

InfiniteMonkey - 3/25/2014, 1:34 PM
Another remake of an Arnold movie.

They should re-boot Commando or Predator with him in it.
Or Twins with Danny Devito, before he gets lost in Philadelphia.
batz11 - 3/25/2014, 1:34 PM
Hmmm, first thought wtf, but yeah, it's living flesh, so makes sense...
dio - 3/25/2014, 1:36 PM
^^^LMAO

now we need Sly as Ted Grant in Arrow
Dunejedi - 3/25/2014, 1:40 PM
Does Terminator flesh continue to age after it's been submerged in molten steel? Cause, y'know, human flesh doesn't.
SpiderFraud - 3/25/2014, 1:42 PM
I smell a lot of continuity errors and another waste of time trying to capitalize on a franchise. I really hope I eat crow, when this movie drops.
Humperdink - 3/25/2014, 1:42 PM
Yoss, it is a bit weird.

To be honest I think they should just not have Arnie in it at all and start over.
fettastic - 3/25/2014, 1:43 PM
I'm glad we finally nailed that down and can forget those stupid rumors about him being the scientist that invented Skynet. I still think it's stupid to have his saggy ass in it at all, but if he's going to be in it, he should be the Terminator.
fettastic - 3/25/2014, 1:44 PM
@Dunejedi. You do understand that Arnie has played 4 DIFFERENT Terminators in all 4 Terminator films right? So why in the [frick] would you assume he was the one in T2?
soforizo - 3/25/2014, 1:46 PM
Go TRON on Arnie! What a waste...
fceeviper - 3/25/2014, 1:46 PM
I for one can't wait for this! I need my Terminator fix!

I for one is looking forward to this.

Listened to (below) today. Arnold seems to be such a nice guy. He talks about the new Terminator btw.

Ocelot - 3/25/2014, 1:49 PM
A Terminator movie with no Schwarzenegger isn't a Terminator film as far as I'm concerned. What's next Rambo with no Stallone?, Alien with no Weaver? I can't even begin to fathom that nonsense. Do a Prometheus and call it something else and have it be it's own thing.

Hopefully we actually get "Terminators" in this installment instead of "Throwminators" like in the last one.
