"A source says Star Wars: Episode VII director J.J. Abrams and Disney are planning to build out an extensive re-creation of Tatooine, the desolate home planet of Luke and Anakin Skywalker, in a Morocco-like environment (the original was built in Tunisia)." - hollywoodreporter.com

Over the past few weeks, Star Wars VII news has finally started to trickle out. Not much, but something. We got a bit of casting news with Peter Mayhew returning to play 'Chewbacca,' and producer Alan Horn confirmed that 2nd unit filming has already taken place. And today, a source for the ever-reliable Hollywood Reporter says Tatooine sets are being built. Sound familiar? It should. At the beginning of the month a source for Badass Digest informed them Star Wars VII would film some scenes in Morocco. That info lead Badass Digest to speculate that abandoned Tatooine sets in that area would be reused.

Tatooine is a place Infiltrated by Hydra....
ndwwrestler2 - 4/9/2014, 7:11 AM
IN BEFORE HYDR-...Dammit!
Lozzy - 4/9/2014, 7:12 AM
As much as I'm looking forward to seeing tatooine again I want to see some new planets also.
ndwwrestler2 - 4/9/2014, 7:12 AM
They want to go back to where it all began. I don't see a problem with this. Let's just not do it for episodes 8 & 9 too.
ndwwrestler2 - 4/9/2014, 7:13 AM
Wasn't this posted last week? Or was that something else?
nailbiter111 - 4/9/2014, 7:15 AM

ndwwrestler2 - badassdigest speculated this based on the shooting location.
MrNiklander - 4/9/2014, 7:16 AM
Of course we would see Tatooine it is vital for every Star Wars film
ndwwrestler2 - 4/9/2014, 7:16 AM
@nailbiter111 Ah. Understood.
ndwwrestler2 - 4/9/2014, 7:18 AM
I can't wait to say "I don't know who that is." when they start announcing the cast.
carrowsboy - 4/9/2014, 7:37 AM
Whenever they go to that desert planet it is always boring and drawn out.

Tatooine is a staple of Star Wars. Also, it would make sense if the rumor about this being about Luke's child is true.

It would make sense for Luke to take his child to the planet where the Skywalker line is from.

I LOVE EVERYTHING STAR WARS!!!!

OT, PT, Extended Universe Books, CLONE WARS, etc...

But My Favorite Star Wars movies have always been when they don't go to Tattoine (Empire and Sith)

I agree with carrowsboy, I think it's the most boring location in the whole series.

Which I understand is the point of it, but it's boring nonetheless.

@nomis

While I agree with u, (Empire and Sith are my favs, too), but the final scene of Sith is on Tatooine.

"Tatooine:"

"Tattoo:"

Thanks! I'm still laughing!

The crew on SW VII must wake up every morning with goosebumps. Last night in a hotel lobby I discussed with old friends the fact that actual sets will be reconstructed for this film. Starting to get a little excited myself.

It all comes down to the writing...but going back to Tatooine seems like a lazy, unimaginative nostalgia grab. I'd like to see something new.
HellsHammer - 4/9/2014, 8:06 AM
Screw tatooine
Hexagram - 4/9/2014, 8:07 AM
@Godzillafart

It may only be for just a few scenes, but yes I too would love "Big New Practical" to be welcomed in any capacity on this.., and sounds like it is.
Hexagram - 4/9/2014, 8:08 AM
Wouldn't a chick with tattoos be a Tatooine Yoss? Hmm? Ya' know what I mean Vern?
cipher - 4/9/2014, 8:11 AM
Chicks with tattoos are hot as f*ck.
cipher - 4/9/2014, 8:12 AM
Heh, "a Tatooine". That's good.
beto - 4/9/2014, 8:15 AM
So ciph likes chicks with tattoos?

LEEE777 - 4/9/2014, 8:18 AM
Sweet :p

Can't wait for the new STAR WARS!
cipher - 4/9/2014, 8:18 AM
beto!! Where the hell have you been, mate? I figured you got kidnapped by aliens or mauled by the chupacabra.
Nomis - 4/9/2014, 8:19 AM
@ GeneralZod1138 - Yeah, but it's only a brief shot. And a nice link to the OTs.

I don't mind it it's a pit stop there..but whole scenes seem to drag on that planet than the others.
beto - 4/9/2014, 8:21 AM
@ciph

who says that it wasn't both?
beto - 4/9/2014, 8:22 AM
By the way what the hell is with the whole HAIL HYDRA shit? I go away for some time and this site goes to hell? where are all the Gusto bashing threads?
Nomis - 4/9/2014, 8:22 AM
@ beto - So you got mauled by an alien chupacabra? :)

and @ Ciph - It must be a generational thing...but chicks with tattoos....Ugh!
cipher - 4/9/2014, 8:27 AM
I'm guessing it was an alien chupacabra with a severe eczema problem and a tendency to "probe where the stars don't shine". Good to see ya, man.
DrunkenNukem - 4/9/2014, 8:28 AM
No shit...

This movie is a recycled story from episode IV already

Nothing new....

A whole [frick]ing Universe...and you gotta keep showing the same planets
beto - 4/9/2014, 8:28 AM
Next thing we will all be admiring the Kardashians
DrunkenNukem - 4/9/2014, 8:28 AM
@beto...the site has been infected by some kind of Neo-Nazi nerds
cipher - 4/9/2014, 8:32 AM
Nomi- Haha, I mean, I personally don't mind 'em. I've got two so far (they're pretty small), my girlfriend's got three (they're tiny)..

I dunno, probably get another one soon. I'm random like that.
