News has been pretty slow today, nothing at all going on not even in a galaxy far, far away... until now! According to Deadline:
New Regency and Ubisoft are in talks with Justin Kurzel to direct Assassin’s Creed, the live action adaptation of the Ubisoft video game that has Michael Fassbender attached to star.

Justin Kurzel is an Australian film director and screenwriter, who is best known for Snowtown Murders (2011), The Turning (2013) and Blue Tongue (2005). Wait a second, you probably don't know any of those films. Okay, but know this, Michael Fassbender ("X-Men: First Class") and Kurzel recently worked together on a new retelling of Macbeth, which also stars Marion Cotillard ("The Dark Knight Rises"). Out, damned spot! Out, I say!
Assassin's Creed is a 2007 sandbox style action-adventure-stealth video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. The game was released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in November 2007 and for PC in April 2008. The game centers around the use of a machine dubbed the "Animus", which allows its user to view the genetic memories of his or her ancestors, centering around the protagonist, a bartender named Desmond Miles. As Desmond relives the memories of one of his ancestors, the Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad who lived in the Holy Land during the Third Crusade, details of a battle between two ancient sects – the Knights Templar and the Assassin Order – emerge as both scour for an artifact known only as a "Piece of Eden." - assassinscreed.wikia

Never seen any of his work but, Assassin's Creed is [frick]ing epic. Second favorite game franchise. Let's go Altiar as the main assassin in movie 1.
Now, let's get the ball Rollin WB on the Mortal Kombat reboot and who will direct it. Give me Slade for MK damn it.

So Fassbender is actually involved in this project as a Producer then, we'll see how Macbeth turns out but I like it.
Hellsing - 4/29/2014, 10:52 AM
Sadly this is going to get buried by that small other announcement that was made earlier.
TheBeard - 4/29/2014, 10:53 AM
Fassbender should be Ezio
TheDarkPassenger - 4/29/2014, 10:55 AM
This has the potential to not just be the best video game movie of all time, but just a damn good movie overall.
KidGoku - 4/29/2014, 10:57 AM
Never doubt the Fass.
LEEE777 - 4/29/2014, 10:58 AM
BatmanRobinNightwing @ Its never too late ;p

Just start with the first one and probably be able to get it dirt cheap!
blackandyellow - 4/29/2014, 10:59 AM
Never played the game, but video game movies don't exactly have the best track record.

Snowtown Murders is great!!! This guy is a great director. Fassbender must trust him so it's all good. Macbeth looks like it'll be amazing. Great news. This guys an up and coming talent. Assasins creed will be his coming out party in the states and Hollywood.
Pasto - 4/29/2014, 11:02 AM
Halo will be the best video game film ever. Hell, it could be the best film ever.
AC1 - 4/29/2014, 11:03 AM
I love the games (especially II) so I really hope they get this right.
WorstUserNameEver - 4/29/2014, 11:04 AM
Played the first one AND HATED the repetitive nature of each new area (just do the same things you did in the last area).

I was even more disappointed that the assassinations could only be done one way (the way that the developers want you to basically).
charlie2094 - 4/29/2014, 11:04 AM
Will have to check out his films, super excited about this project!

Really think games will get their time for good adaptations soon, just like comics are now doing
MexicanSuperman - 4/29/2014, 11:06 AM
I hope this movie is great.
case - 4/29/2014, 11:19 AM
Aw [frick] yeah! Go watch snowtown anyone who doesn't know him. Snowtown is famous for multiple bodies being found in oil drums in a disused bank. Not snow... They we're put there so dudes could collect their welfare checks. True story, great flick but creepy.
UltimateHunt - 4/29/2014, 11:21 AM

Ridely Scott and Spielberg.....
AwesomeSauce - 4/29/2014, 11:21 AM

Mrcool210 - 4/29/2014, 11:23 AM

LEEE777 - 4/29/2014, 11:28 AM

LEEE777 - 4/29/2014, 11:30 AM
Darksiders and Halo would make awesome movies!

I wanna see Baldur's Gate on screen, give LOTR's a run for its money!
QuestiontheAnswer - 4/29/2014, 11:37 AM
Can't beat Uwe Boll's Far Cry.
maninfinesuit - 4/29/2014, 11:38 AM
Isn't this pretty much already a movie? I certainly never made it past the long, dull opening sequence.

Gazmataz1981 - 4/29/2014, 11:39 AM
Just hope it's not based on the first game. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are only a handful of video games that I want to be made into movies.

1. Assassins Creed

2. Legend of Zelda

3. Metroid

4. Any of the Batman Arkham games
dnno1 - 4/29/2014, 11:53 AM

JoeMomma29 - 4/29/2014, 12:10 PM
@ BatmanRobin

Ummm yeah that could work as well.
WhispaItInYaEar - 4/29/2014, 1:48 PM
Fassbender has been my favorite actor for years now, so i just want it to be known before everyone jumps on his banwagon after this movie and i just look like another Fass-wagon hopper!
mgeoff88 - 4/29/2014, 3:23 PM
You know, a foreign director helming a period piece like AC is actually a good fit.

If the movie is anything like the video games, it will mostly take place during a certain time period.
Indy - 4/29/2014, 4:30 PM
I like AC I played them but there so many of them now I haven't played black flag yet I will buy that game but not looking forward to the very new one at all I am getting little sick of the series Desmond gone so I don't care were that story goes now. plus games has no replay ability I beat game never play it again. But I might go see this movie if it looks good. I think Fassbender should play Altair.
ThrotTheUnclean - 4/29/2014, 5:25 PM
I could see Jaden Smith as Desmond. He really showed off his moves in After Earth.
SugarYumYum - 4/29/2014, 11:21 PM
A Legend of Zelda film could be the greatest film of all time or the greatest disappointment of anything ever.
