"I seem to have a habit of losing people closest to me." ABC have released a new 1-minute trailer for Marvel's Agent Carter, featuring quite a bit of new footage. See Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter), Dominic Cooper (Howard Stark), & more in action after the jump.

In the episode "Now is Not the End," Peggy is contacted by old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger") when he is framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons and can trust no one else. To help Peggy clear Stark's name, he insists his butler, Edwin Jarvis, be at her beck and call--whether she likes it or not. But the risk is great: If caught, Agent Carter could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison...or worse.

hurm.....I used to think this looked like a very cliched period piece tv show. It looks like it has a little depth.

Still holding out for daredevil to restore my faith in Marvel tv

They always show that one little snippet from the first Cap movie, as if they don't have enough action to put in these promos.

This is the least interesting concept for a Marvel show they could've come up with. I'll wait for the Netflix shows.

I love the whole concept of this show, 40s espionage with a female lead. The fact that it has Marvel characters in it and is set in the MCU is really just a bonus.

@blackandyellow I agree. I prefer to see one of the Netflix shows this Jan then this. That blonde wig doesn't suit her.

She could wear a possum on her head; she'd still knock me out. I really look forward to Shield each week, so having the focus on a character I already love from the movies is a huge plus. And her short KILLed. My favorite of the shorts for sure.

@VulcanRebel - I get the reference.... sharp, you. But I'm already getting major Agents of SHIELD withdrawal, and the finale isn't until Friday here in SA. We're three episodes behind the US, so we'll only see Agent Carter end of Jan. What to do, what to do... I might be so bored I'll start watching Gotham...

What I love about the MCU is that they've built this whole world full of very interesting characters that deserve movies and TV shows in their own right. Coulson was more or less a throwaway character in Iron Man. Carter was the never-meant-to-be love of Steve's life. In an ordinary movie franchise, they would never be seen again, or at most get a cameo or two.

How great is it that Marvel has the ability to let their supporting cast spill out into television and Netflix and more?

My original complaints of Marvel TV's endeavors being lackluster and disconnected are currently quieted by Agents of Shield becoming pretty damn enjoyable and relevant and Carter looking very promising.

Maybe I'm just in a good mood, but today is a day that I'm happy Marvel became a massive cog in the Disney corporate empire, because I'm not sure they'd be able to do this sort of stuff as an independent company.

Not to start a studio fan war (honestly, I'm not trying to start one), but I can't think of any supporting character from another studio's CBMs that are even slightly worthy of their own spin-off like this. The only one that comes close is John Blake from Dark Knight Rises, but they were setting him up to take the Batman mantle off-screen anyway, so it's sort of an imaginary spin-off.

But seriously, can anyone name one character from Man of Steel or Green Lantern or the X-Men movies, or the Spider-Man franchises that you'd really think: "I'd want to watch a lower budget show about their adventures"?

"Boy, I wonder what that Man of Steel priest is up to nowadays? Or what about that asshole trucker that had his livelihood ruined by a super tantrum? Or I'd like to see a TV show about Bolivar Trask after Days of Future Past?"

Nope... nothing... Okay, maybe a Raimi Daily Bugle series. Even though most of those characters were one-note caricatures, I could see an office comedy working pretty well.

I liked Hayley Atwell and Dominic Cooper on the first cap movie. Count me in.... hope this does well enough for them to consider a lady sif and the Warriors three miniseries.

In all honestly, though, you're absolutely right. I'm not sure that I could think of any supporting characters from any movies that I would follow to a spin-off... That's the great thing about SHIELD-centric characters, you know they have other stories to tell.
