UPDATED GI Joe 2 To Film By Years End

A Korean news source has stated that Byung-Hun Lee (Storm Shadow) will begin filming the sequel to GI Joke as soon as the end of the year and into 2010. Dennis Quaid also gives us his feelings on a return for General Hawk...
Clearly being run thorough with a sword and plunged into freezing waters wasn't enough to stop oul Storm Shadow! Then again, that was some kind of freakish water. I mean if Ice sinks in it maybe it also restores life or something.

Nate.news.com had the news of his management's annoucement in Korean, translated here.

"Top star Lee Byeong-Heon is in the new Hollywood film, "G.I. Joe 2"!

He will be starting the filming by the end of this year and has been contracted for the 3rd sequel, also!

Now, he is busy with the drama filming, "IRIS" and its promotions overseas. Most of his time starting next year will be send in Hollywood!

Good luck Lee Byeong-Heon!"

Good luck indeed. Lee was one of the (few) highlights in that piece of crap though, so I guess its good news that he is returning. For those of you that will be going to see it anyway:)

UPDATE Worst Previews have a few words from Dennis Quaid about returning as General Hawk for the sequel..

"I'm definitely on board if they do another one," he said. "I don't know if they have a script yet, but I'm definitely interested."

Quaid did have one request if he were to appear in the sequel. "I want to get out of the pit," he said. "I want to ride a horse and shoot a gun. I want a horse with an accelerator suit."

Don't worry Dennis, I'm sure Stephen Sommers wouldn't have a problem with that at all, in fact its probably already crossed his mind.

I actually enjoyed most of the first movie...

Hopefully..Cobra will have a Better looking suit...

It had a better Storyline then Transformers 2 IMO.

(not that I'm comparing but still)

The Women in the film could be a just little less Cheerleaderish and a little bit Stronger for my taste.

Give Cobra a Cooler suit and its all good.

I LIKED IT, THEY WERE BASICALLY TELLING A BEGINNING STORY, SO IT COULD BE A MORE FAMILIAR GI JOE IN THE SEQUEL.MY ONLY BEEF WAS COBRA COMMANDERS MASK AND RIPCORD.

I think I just threw up a little. It seems to me that this is a bad sign that they are rushing this into production. No good can come from this.

i'm glad they actually didn't kill one of the few enticing characters of the movie.
hopefully in the sequel, the camera work will be better so that we can actually see some of the snake eyes/storm shadow sparring!

I knew it. Baroness turns good, storm shadow dies, CC and Destro were both captured. Zartan was the only one who made it out! Everyone who's anyone knows any comicbook movie is going to be a trilogy nowadays, or least attempt to (for the most part). How could they get rid of key characters like storm shadow for example in the first movie? This is where the fun part about comics comes into play, they can always find a way to bring someone back. Even if the script says they're dead.. *COUGH dark knight COUGH*.....sorry about that...

hmmm, movies made with its resultant toyline in mind, reminds me of joel shumacher's batman movies! maybe we'll see snake eyes with rubber lips AND nipples in this next one!!!!

District 9 was the best movie of the year (at least so far), sorry Watchmen fans (hey, I'm one of ya too!)

"GI Joe" was a terribly acted, terribly written, and terribly directed movie. It should have gone straight to DVD, as thwhtknight said.

the comments about Ice sinking is getting old, didn't anyone listen when they said that the building was built into the ice... meaning there was metal in the ice and lots of it and last I checked Metal does not float.

I don't know why people didn't like this movie. If I told you that snake-eyes was going to be in a dress and dancing on stage would you hate this? Well it happened in the cartoon. The movie was over the top just like the cartoon and the comic. The movie was an action flick that did it's job. Just don't think they should bring storm shadow back. Replace him with firefly.

The movie sucked. Who cares about the cartoon. I just wanted a good movie and it was horrible IMO. I'm glad you enjoyed it. And if snake eyes did do that in the movie it still wouldn't have been as funny as the rest of the script and acting.

I know flames809 is overjoyed!

Hopefully the sequel will be better scripted, The cast will spend some time in acting class, and maybe cobra commander will have a mask that that doesn't look like the artificial heart from crank 2.

I want this to be better than the first, which was good but had its large share of problems

Okay, this si my breakdown of GI Joe

Acting=Shit(except for Sienna Miller and Storm Shadow)
Story=Muddled and shit
Special Effects=Beyond shit
Script=Ear bleedingly shit
Action scenes=Passable

How can that in any way possibly add up to a good movie? If someone disagrees on any of the above points please, lets hear your arguments!

Stephen Sommers is the Shittiest Director ever!!! Besides the first and possibly the second Mummy movie, his stuff is CRAP!!! Ed Wood would've probably of done a better job, if he were still alive. G.I.Joe should be like the scene where the Military was fighting the Scorpion Robot in the TRANSFORMERS movie. That scene was awesome and intense. @Teabag, You crack me up man!! LMAO!!!

I'm with Ror on this one. There was really nothing good about this film. The acting was bad, the story was tolerable...at best. The dialogue...well, the fact they used the line "You and what army?" makes me sick. As I stated before, they are rushing this into production and that is never a good sign. The story and filming will be rushed and even lower quality than the first film.

ror is correct in my opinion, I mean it was just a poorly concieved movie and the only reason why anyone would really enjoy it would be if they were a hardcore joe fanatic who loved it purely because it was a fulfillment of their one dream to see joe brought to the big screen, like LEE. And I respect that, if you love a concept so much you can enjoy it purely for the concept, we all have movies that fall into that category, movies that people think we are crazy for loving. But to say that you like this movie for any other reason than your love of joe is madness, it was bad.

Just for the record, my guilty pleasure is the 80's Flash Gordon movie. I am human.

What they need to do with this one is have firefly come in as the double agent like he always has been and that is how cobra commander gets out of prision. They use the mind control on baroness and make her pure bad again. Zartan is still president and bring in the twins as the backers for cobra and his organization. Make a few of the joes die and have the famous scene where snake eyes gets his vocals cut so he can't speak anymore.

Well, Storm Shadow did "die" in the comic book early on. The Baroness shot him on the beach when he was getting to cozy with Snake Eyes. Perhaps they were trying to tie that in somehow. Can't wait to see how it works!

Why are so many people freaking out over Storm Shadow coming back? You commplain about how the movie didnt' follow the original character story lines, but even though Storm Shadow has come back from the dead multiple times from even more severe injuries you say this is unrealistic and stupid?

Get over it. The movie wasn't that bad. I admit as a big Joe fan I expected to see an hour and half rape scene. But all in all the movie was waayyy better than any of the scenes in Transformers 2 or Wolverine.

Yeah, it's suppose to be hokey and silly, but so was the cartoon/comic! I could have done without Channing Tatum acting like a rejected Abercrombie and Finch model, but hey, what an you do? Perhaps the sequel can help revitalize the effort.... (or worsen it)...

I never saw Cobra...or Over The Top. I was more of an Arnie fan as a young un. Or even Van Damme. Yes, you heard me. Even as a nipper i knew he was God awful, but man could he deliver a round house kick.

I prob would have liked GI Joe as a kid too. Then again, I prob wouldn't.

Ice can indeed sink in water dammit! It's just that the physical conditions for it to do so were absent in this movie. In order for ice to sink in water, the water must be a SIGNIFICANTLY higher temperature than the ice. Another physics issue with the sinking ice, unless the mass of steel within said ice chunks makes up more than half of each individual sinking piece, it wouldn't sink! So this whole, 'But there was metal in the ice' horseshit is exactly that... HORSESHIT. And if you are judging this movie on the basis of sinking ice, that is just retarded. This movie sucked ass, but if the only reason a person thinks so is because of a physics issue, lol, then dammit, how'd you ever get into comics.

Note: all instances of the word 'you' should not be mistaken as directed towards the article creator. The 'You' folks know who they are.

GI Joe better than District 9, LMFAO. Some of you wouldn't know a good story if it bit a chunk from your ass.

Dude, the ice sinking thing was just the straw that broke the camels back. It was the one final thing that convinced me that the people responsible for making this movie not only didn't care about insulting our intelligence, they quite simply didn't give a flying [frick] about even trying to make any kind of quality movie because they knew they didn't have to. Do you honestly think any of those hacks that puked out that tripe factored anything like water temperature or metal in the ice into any decision they made?
