Seth Rogen Continues To Tease PREACHER; Reveals The Opening Tune

Not the actual title track now, but the first song we'll hear after the credits role -- and it should be familiar to readers of Garth Ennis' controversial comic series. See what Rogen posted to his Twitter account after the jump..

preacher

Last week, co-writer of AMC's upcoming Preacher tv series Seth Rogen posted a glimpse behind the scenes of his creative process, and revealed that the entity known as Genesis (the half-demon-half-angel that possesses Custer, giving him his God-like power) will be the first thing we see when the pilot ep opens. Well now he's released a new photo from his cork board, and it includes the classic Willie Nelson song "Time of the Preacher", which Jesse Custer is singing the first time we meet him in the comic.

Nice to see, in these first couple of shots at least, that Rogen and Evan Goldberg are sticking close to the source material. Hopefully we'll get a few more teases soon.

WombRaider - 7/15/2014, 3:44 PM

they wont take the chances that the comic did
Arrowhead77 - 7/15/2014, 3:47 PM
Dont know a lot about this comic, but I hope it goes well on AMC. If its good, I will watch!
SidTheSloth - 7/15/2014, 3:56 PM
He will so Womb.

The dude is releasing a movie that is pissing off North Korea.

He has balls
HeadPool420 - 7/15/2014, 4:03 PM
I wish this was a Showtime or HBO series because then it would be insane and dark. But I'm scared that with AMC/Rogan we might get a slightly goody comedic show.
AsgardianHobo - 7/15/2014, 4:04 PM
I dunno. Seth Rogan can be funny, but he was also the writer of this gem

so ya......
WombRaider - 7/15/2014, 4:09 PM
@sid yeah thats north korea. idk if he will have the balls to piss off christians like the preacher does. and seeing how the preacher tv series will depend on an american audience and americans are [frick]ing nutters with that whole jesus is magic shit...
ALegendaryPanda - 7/15/2014, 4:13 PM
I'm really excited for this show!
ChiliConCarney - 7/15/2014, 4:20 PM
I kinda hope this song makes it in...

Skip to 0:56 for true singing prowess.
JohnnyCloud - 7/15/2014, 4:34 PM
I thought the first song would be: "Fist Again".
Anyway, I have a very limited faith in Rogen so I'm not really looking forward to this.
I'll stick to the comics.
SniktBub - 7/15/2014, 4:40 PM
@WombRaider- Wow. The only reason this show is being made is because it attacks Christianity. If it attacked another religion, people would not be tolerant of it. No one would even think of making a movie that attacked Muslims or even Eastern culture. Rogen (a Jew) and Ennis (an atheist) are trying to make a statement, nothing more.
CaptShipwreck - 7/15/2014, 4:43 PM
Lets wait and see children.... Pls
DocDangerous - 7/15/2014, 4:45 PM
I'm so excited to finally see this on the screen.
TuckstheHalls - 7/15/2014, 4:47 PM
that crying baby is almost identical to Drax the Destroyer's face in the teaser image right below this one. I hope that was intentional.
NerdyKevin15 - 7/15/2014, 5:04 PM
The comic kick ass . I hope that Seth Rogan won,t mess it up. I want it to be funny and have the [frick]ed up parts like in the comics.

Like this.

That is arseface
campblood - 7/15/2014, 5:15 PM
great choice
SoftBodyPhysics - 7/15/2014, 5:20 PM
Seth Rogen grosses me out. Do us a favor and just please go away.

kakinurmawth - 7/15/2014, 6:24 PM
Yeah this whole project is so ridiculously controversial. The comics survived because they were comics. Going mainstream with this story is just asking for headlines and controversy.

Don't get me wrong I'm excited to see this live action, but man, the controversy hellfire that's gonna rain down on AMC is gonna be epic. HBO had it right when they passed on this project years ago.
Dunejedi - 7/15/2014, 6:26 PM
Very encouraging.

Oh, and fukc ALL organized religions.

Have a nice day!
csdot - 7/15/2014, 6:30 PM
Why is everyone acting like controversy and headlines are things the producers of this show don't want?
DCGuy - 7/15/2014, 6:31 PM
this is gonna be really good I feel it in my DC sense.
Jollem - 7/15/2014, 6:34 PM
for those of you who haven't read this...you're missing out

one of the best comic stories i've read

Transmetropolitan next, please. warren ellis is such a futurist
kakinurmawth - 7/15/2014, 6:37 PM
@Jollem
Definitely a fun read
kakinurmawth - 7/15/2014, 6:37 PM
to Preacher that is. Haven't read Transmetropolitan
Jollem - 7/15/2014, 6:44 PM
@kakinurmawth - preacher is such a roller coaster. hits on all levels. transmet was so amazing for it's time. still amazing for this time. warren saw the future, and presented it through the life of spider jerusalem--a hunter s. thompson/julian assange-kinda lovable, bastard psychopath :) warren envisioned tablets and smartphones and google glass way before they were imagined. all kinds of social commentary. good stuff
JorL5150 - 7/15/2014, 7:08 PM
Just tell me Seth roger won't play the lead. Tell me be is a writer/ producer ...

If he's the lead I'm so never watching it.
Jollem - 7/15/2014, 7:11 PM
lol. seth won't be jesse
Project8501 - 7/15/2014, 7:29 PM
Can this possibly translate, without being so reduced it'll just suck? I don't think TWD comes close to the "extreme" scenes found in Preacher. Prediction is what the hell do i know maybe Seth pulls it off or...pulls out.
chrispunk28 - 7/15/2014, 11:32 PM
will watch! :)
Marxman12 - 7/16/2014, 12:02 AM
Sniktbub I agree. The only reason Rogen & Co. are adapting it is because of the controversy.
jimoakley666 - 7/16/2014, 12:02 AM
They really NEED to cast someone who is actually Irish to play Cassidy and not someone doing a terrible grating accent. Wonder if Michael Fassbender is up for doing a series? Ha ha. As if he could ever fit it in to his schedule.

Domhnall Gleeson could be good in the role. But his movie career is really taking off now too.
Daddydeadpool - 7/16/2014, 1:28 AM
Be interesting to see how much of the source material they include and what they'll leave out, like arseface, Jesus de Sade's orgy, Starr getting sodimised, oatlash and the Nazi stuff, Odin quincannons seriously weird, major, fricked up sex doll made of meat carcass's. Not to mention all the god stuff
case - 7/16/2014, 1:31 AM
I've known chicks that swear by this comic. I should give it a go.
TheDudeRusty - 7/16/2014, 2:25 AM
Neither of them have written a serious work yet so I don't have any preconceived ideas about the quality.
Haff - 7/16/2014, 2:45 AM
My favourite comic of all time. Please be good!
KINGPEN266 - 7/16/2014, 2:53 AM
