New GOTHAM Promo Urges Citizens To Take A Stand Against Crime

In this promo for Fox's upcoming Batman prequel series, the Gotham Chronicle urges the city's inhabitants to turn to the newspaper for the justice the police force are incapable of doling out. Take a look after the jump.

The series follows one cop, destined for greatness, as he navigates a dangerously corrupt city teetering between good and evil, and chronicles the rise of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes. The entirely new, untold chapter comes from executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”) and stars Ben McKenzie (“Southland,” “The O.C.”), Donal Logue (“Vikings,” “Sons of Anarchy”) and Jada Pinkett Smith (“Hawthorne,” “Collateral”).

Gotham kicks off Monday, September 22.

Because Batman sure can't.

I am looking forward to this show....

THE FALCONE FAMILY! YES! Can't wait to see them incorporate the mafia side of the Batman universe into this show. That was one of the highlights of the Nolan series for me and it has a lot of potential to be further explored on TV.
Arrowhead77 - 7/25/2014, 10:50 AM
So is the plan still to age Bruce a few years every new season?
sKeemAn - 7/25/2014, 10:54 AM
Would this be the origin of Gotham that is set in the DCCU?

TheBaroness89 - 7/25/2014, 11:01 AM
So im guessing the citizens don't take back Gotham. And the police fail. Because you know..what would be Batman's motivation then....
"You have failed this city!" Oops my bad thats a line from a better show.
Humperdink - 7/25/2014, 11:02 AM
This could either be the greatest comic-to-movie TV show in that it looks to match the tone and intensity of the recent Batman films almost perfectly, or it could fail miserably because it tries to add too much of the Batman universe before Bruce even becomes Batman. I mean, how would 'before Freeze' work out unless they really changed his origin around?

Are all the villains Batman fought secretly geriatric level senior citizens?

The premise sort of locks them in a box, but if they create enough original villains it could work.

I do like the promo's though.

P.S. Ror...who won that Under The Skin DVD!!!!??

KingSilence - 7/25/2014, 11:04 AM
If a city was run by crime lords, where the judicial system and cops were also part of it, then allowing a televised broadcast of blatantly outing the police's involvement would not be allowed. Even today, in America, there are no cities where an anti police commercial (not just anti police but literal accusations of gangster police officers) has aired or ever will be.

@Gusto

Your daughter looks like Christopher Reid!

Nomis - 7/25/2014, 11:17 AM
WHY do anyone Expects BATMAN to be on this show ?????

He's 10 year old kid when it starts.

The show would have to last 19 season when he's 29 before he even put on the cowl.
DCGuy - 7/25/2014, 11:18 AM
this is gonna be great
DrKinsolving - 7/25/2014, 11:21 AM
@Nomis

Nobody is expecting Batman to be on this show, it's horseshit
SimyJo - 7/25/2014, 11:24 AM
Mrs 'Big Willy' can only bury this terrible Batman concept quicker than it's going to go down anyway. Terrible actress.
Brainiac13 - 7/25/2014, 11:24 AM
@Nomis

Or jump years every season.....by season 5.....we get a glimpse of Batz in the shadows.....
DrKinsolving - 7/25/2014, 11:26 AM
@Brainiac13

Heller said Batman won't be on the show
MercwithMouth - 7/25/2014, 11:28 AM
@SimyJo

Agreed!!! She's disgustingly bad.
Brainiac13 - 7/25/2014, 11:29 AM
@DrKinsolving

We will get Batman in the shadows when the series ends.....guarantee.
That's what happened to Smallville......this has the same premise....just different studio...
Darth258 - 7/25/2014, 11:29 AM
I think i'll watch this just for Edward Nigma.
MercwithMouth - 7/25/2014, 11:33 AM
They should've cast Gabrielle Union as Fish Mooney...

DrKinsolving - 7/25/2014, 11:37 AM
@Brainiac13

If It Ends, and lasts more than 1 season

and yeah for maybe 10 seconds with no action or anything.... Definitely not interested in watching Bruce's teenage years, this isn't Spider-Man or Clark Kent
Gusto - 7/25/2014, 11:38 AM
Well hello, my brown sugar!
Nomis - 7/25/2014, 11:39 AM
@ Brainiac13 - That might work.
soforizo - 7/25/2014, 11:45 AM
Dafuq. That was weak.

GadoTheLion - 7/25/2014, 1:06 PM
I better not see a smartphone or a toyota hybrid on this show.
Facade - 7/25/2014, 1:44 PM
Still very much looking forward to this despite that being very lame.
thundershocked - 7/25/2014, 4:31 PM
It's hard to get excited for this show, with Superman v Batman news releasing at the same time. DC's and Fox's overall marketing teams should have figured this out.
