TMNT: New Critics TV Spot Pulls A Few More Positive Quotes

The last critics spot for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot only used one quote, but now that some more reviews are up online they have a few more options! The movie currently sits at 44% on Rotten Tomatoes, which isn't that bad...right?

I'm sorry but "Ninja Turtles delivers", the rest of that could be "absolutely nothing".
StarYeezus - 8/5/2014, 10:14 AM

MrCBM56 - 8/5/2014, 10:20 AM
So I'll be seeing GOTG again which should be one epic, visually marvelous fantastic time at the movies.
RangerStorm44 - 8/5/2014, 10:22 AM
Epic you say Idk critics people told me personally this was the worst movie since the last airbender I'll go see gotg again HUR DUR!!!
TheDarkPassenger - 8/5/2014, 10:25 AM
It's not as bad as I originally thought, so that alone makes me want to see it.
Jollem - 8/5/2014, 10:28 AM
if you really need rotten tomatoes to tell you how to think you're a drone, anyway
0megaDaGod - 8/5/2014, 10:28 AM
I originally thought going to see this could be a waste of my money

Knowing I'll be seeing it instead of Guardians CONFIRMS this will be a waste of my money

Still watching it tho

"The way people have been talking about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, you'd think Michael Bay directed it. After seeing it, you may wish he had. I did."

Luke Y. Thompson
Topless Robot

this was one of my favorite quotes, gonna have to read the full review.
MrSuperheromoviefan - 8/5/2014, 10:30 AM
Hope Bay didn't shit on it
Kyos - 8/5/2014, 10:31 AM
It's less sad than the critics spot with the one quote, I'll give it that. But it still doesn't do much for me.

And sorry, the GOTG critics spot with Rocket's "that is true" and "that is also true" is probably my favourite ever. Although the new "exclusively in that order" one is pretty nice as well. :D
TheDudeRusty - 8/5/2014, 10:32 AM
RT's the same site that has Law Abiding Citizen on 25% right?
marvel72 - 8/5/2014, 10:32 AM
@ jollem

the critics on rotten tomatoes said transformers 4 is shit, users on this site went to see the movie & came back saying the same thing.

i wonder if its worth going to see?
EzioKenway1225 - 8/5/2014, 10:33 AM
it could be decent.. they seem to atleast have gotten the interactions the personalities of the turtles down..lets hope the story is decent atleast
RorMachine - 8/5/2014, 10:34 AM
Jollem, you can keep an eye on the RT score and take critics' opinions on movies on board without being a "drone". They're just movie fans like all of us at the end of the day..granted some are pickier than others, but there's this weird misconception that they actively want to dislike movies, and it just isn't true (though there are exceptions). I would never let a critic decide on whether I was gonna see a movie if I thought it looked good and I will be seeing this) , but that doesn't mean it isn't a nice feeling when a film you're looking forward to is a critical hit..like GOTG was.

JorL5150 - 8/5/2014, 10:38 AM
Law abiding citizen is an awesome movie
BboiBlack - 8/5/2014, 10:40 AM
Could the header be any more cynical?
RorMachine - 8/5/2014, 10:44 AM
Yes, it most certainly could.
PrinceAwesome - 8/5/2014, 10:45 AM
Revert this back to Marvel! Wah!
MatTaylorX - 8/5/2014, 10:46 AM
I love how you guys crap on Rotten Tomatoes when it goes against a movie you want to love. But when it goes with you, you use it to prove it's a good movie. And Law Abiding Citizen was a terrible movie. That's why it has a low rating.

TMNT will end up with a low rating. It might have entertaining moments but we all honestly know it will be a bad movie.
Jollem - 8/5/2014, 10:47 AM
@marvel72 - i dunno. never really been a transformers fan and there are things i like and dislike about the three i've seen

@Ror - "critics" are always gonna hype up marvel studios movies. that's a given at this point. no matter what they churn out. if everyone in the world vocally dislikes a movie i like i'm still gonna like it. if everyone likes a movie i like, that really has no bearing on me. i understand where people may a feeling of camaraderie and "strength in numbers" feeling on getting behind something, but i'm past that. it really won't make me appreciate something more than i already do
RorMachine - 8/5/2014, 10:53 AM
"critics" are always gonna hype up marvel studios movies"

Eh, no..that's not how it works, trust me. You really think "the critics" are this big club that meet and decide what they're going to like and dislike? They're just people, movie fans with different opinions like everyone else, the only difference is they get paid to write about film and would, generally, have a pretty wide range of info and knowledge about them. Marvel movies generally go over well with the majority of them because...generally Marvel make bloody good movies! I read reviews not for them to tell me what to think or even influence it, but because there are a handful of them that my own personal taste would normally gel with and I respect their opinion. That's it.
Gusto - 8/5/2014, 10:58 AM
I [frick]in' loved Law Abiding Citizen.
StarYeezus - 8/5/2014, 11:00 AM
Ror, didn't you know? Rotten Tomatoes is a conspiracy.

Gusto - 8/5/2014, 11:01 AM
I also [frick]in' love drinking.
Jollem - 8/5/2014, 11:08 AM
it's the hype. marvel has done well on hyping the crap out of their marvel studios movies. you can feel it. they have the masses chomping at the bit with every single movie. there are definitely critics i agree with. not 100% all the time. there has never been one. roger or ebert or nobody. surely not the number on the rotten tomatoes site. surely not the smattering of the "youtube critics". the marvel studios movies have the feel of the harry potter movies or the lotr movies or the star wars re-release. it's a hype behemoth, and the general consensus will ride the wave. until the next big thing comes along, that is :)
TexasAvenger - 8/5/2014, 11:09 AM
This should be a fun thread
Pending - 8/5/2014, 11:11 AM
That RT critics conspiracy explains why X-Men Days of Future Past was such a critical flop...
0megaDaGod - 8/5/2014, 11:21 AM
@Pending

Days Of Future Past was a systemic anomaly. A glitch in the system

Agent Smith is responsible for it dropping down one percentage point, which allowed GOTG to claim the best CBM rating of the year
0megaDaGod - 8/5/2014, 11:23 AM
I've seen some epic attempts at taking the wind out of the Marvel sails, but this is probably my new favorite one

LOL

The critics 'hyped' Thor The Dark World up to a 65%

@OmegaDaGod Oh God do you remember the cave scene?
needles94 - 8/5/2014, 11:33 AM
HEY GUYS HERE'S A REALLY COOL IDEA. HOW ABOUT WE ALL ACTUALLY WAIT AND SEE THE MOVIE BEFORE WE SAY HOW MUCH IT SUCKS?I THINK THAT MIGHT BE A REALLY INTERESTING THING TO TRY!
yossarian - 8/5/2014, 11:33 AM
The GF and I are going out tonight with people who don't drink. She is really [frick]ing up my program as of late.
Jollem - 8/5/2014, 11:34 AM
all i know is this movie looks good and Nate's review sounded pretty damn good. he's an actual non-wiki fan from what it sounded like so i'm pretty jazzed for it. if rotten tomatoes doesn't dig on the movie...it doesn't really matter
JoeMomma29 - 8/5/2014, 11:39 AM
I am sure some critics are bought off just like the members of congress, but no way in hell is there a conspiracy that critics are hyping up Marvel movies.
Gusto - 8/5/2014, 11:40 AM
What's "don't drink"?
Nubase - 8/5/2014, 11:40 AM
Just remember that days of extinction made a billions dollars a week ago, reviewers such as RT mean nothing cos the gen public do look at those sites.
antoineflemming - 8/5/2014, 11:45 AM
@Ror, Jollem's not completely wrong. It's no different than IGN always, and I mean ALWAYS, praising COD games like they're the best games ever, when they've featured the same gameplay and assets (sounds, animations, etc) since MW2. It is not an odd thing nor a conspiracy for critics to be so behind Marvel films that they are always praised without regard to the actual quality of the films.

It's just not THAT odd for critics to get behind praising a studio or developer or whatever that has had a relatively good track record, and giving them the benefit of the doubt when they come out with something that's below the standards of their other works.

But at the same time, that's certainly not the standard for Marvel films, because rarely do their films get 90%+ ratings. Most of their films, if I'm correct, about around the 70% to 80% range. Please correct me if I'm wrong. So it's certainly not that every critic blindly gives Marvel movies a high rating.

I just think that Marvel can get away with certain things (like the destruction in GOTG with the whole evacuation issue or the Transformers-esque traffic deaths in IM1 that were never addressed) that studios like WB can't, and I believe that's entirely due to critics' bias (like people still saying that Superman caused widespread destruction when it in fact was Zod, or that Superman could have led Zod anywhere else when in fact, Superman was chasing Zod and trying to stop him - Zod was leading Superman).
