KICK-ASS Star Chloë Grace Moretz Says She's "Done" With Playing Hit-Girl

Though there is a Kick-Ass 3 comic book, a third movie instalment was never a sure thing after the sequel's fairly disappointing box office -- but even if it does happen, it sounds like they'll have to replace Hit-Girl! Find out what young Chloë Grace Moretz has to say after the jump.

Despite writer Mark Millar stating that things are "up in the air" as far as a third Kick-Ass movie goes, one of the stars of the previous 2 instalments definitely seems to be erring towards the negative side of things when it comes to the film ever getting made. "Sadly, I think I'm done with the character," Chloë Grace Moretz tells Digital Spy. "Hit-Girl was a very cool character, but I don't think there will be any more movies." The actress blames movie piracy contributing to disappointing box office numbers as the main reason why we likely won't see a Kick-Ass 3. "Kick-Ass 2 was one of the number one pirated movies of the year, but that doesn't help us because we need box office figures. We need to prove to the distributors that we can make money from a third and a fourth movie - but because it didn't do so well, we can't make another one." But this doesn't mean we'll never see Moretz suit up as a superhero again -- on the contrary; it seems she's actively looking at comic books and novels for potential roles in the future. "I try to keep abreast on what's out there and what's being made," she tells the site. "We're getting a lot of source material from books and comics right now, so it's a great place to look." Dingbat - 8/24/2014, 5:47 PM
Okay I guess. Kickass 2 was pretty bad.
0megaDaGod - 8/24/2014, 5:48 PM
Damn
JredTheRed - 8/24/2014, 5:51 PM
i liked KA2. also it really doesnt seem to me that she wouldn't play the role if they did move ahead with a third
BabyGroot - 8/24/2014, 5:52 PM
The sequel felt too amateur compared to the first. Can't really see a third movie happening at this rate. Perhaps it's best to leave it alone...
DrDoom - 8/24/2014, 5:53 PM
She should be done with acting in general. Useless pipsqueak.
DEVLIN712 - 8/24/2014, 5:54 PM
I ain't the biggest fan of her so I guess I don't really mind
Sipprelle - 8/24/2014, 5:55 PM
Hey, I'm trying to embedd a poll question into my article but it's showing up as blank. Can anybody help me out?

TankD - 8/24/2014, 5:57 PM
I liked kick ass 2 if you watch them back to back its like they are one movie. sucks was really hoping for a trilogy. Thats when you call it quits.
MFDOOM - 8/24/2014, 5:57 PM
No one really wants a Kick Ass 3 anyway, so whatever.
Superior - 8/24/2014, 5:58 PM
But since Kick-Ass is pretty much out of business and The Secret Service is pretty much (nearly) finished (I guess), this is what needs to be adapted next:

I recommend everyone read it. It's a very good book.
TankD - 8/24/2014, 5:58 PM
She is a shitty actress though she always seems likes shes trying to hard to act or somthing. I cant explain it.
RorMachine - 8/24/2014, 5:58 PM
@Sipprelle , it shows up blank in admin but when the article is finished it will be in there for anyone who clicks it.
Chloefornication - 8/24/2014, 6:00 PM
Piracy? So the quality of the movie has nothing to do with it?
DangerRoom - 8/24/2014, 6:00 PM

She grew up way too fast. She was great in the first, but needed to be around the same age for the second to make it work.

Loved the film, though.
ahhmynuts - 8/24/2014, 6:02 PM
@TankD

ive noticed that too. i dont think she's ready for a comicbook role from Marvel or DC just yet
Alien - 8/24/2014, 6:03 PM
Right, since Carrie was such a hit. #smh
Superior - 8/24/2014, 6:05 PM
@Chloefornication

Pretty much. That's today's Hollywood. Piracy screws up the box office intake so they didn't make that much. Take piracy out of the picture and add in a lot of box office intake, we'd be getting a sequel. This has been happening for a while e.g. Transformers trilogy.
TheSoulEater - 8/24/2014, 6:05 PM
Well that's it for the Kick Ass series, it's shit without her
ManCalledSting - 8/24/2014, 6:05 PM
That's no good, i really liked both of the movies. Stoopid Jim Carrey.
ManCalledSting - 8/24/2014, 6:07 PM
She was great in Zombieland
TheDarkKryptonian - 8/24/2014, 6:07 PM
KA2 took everything that was special away from the first movie. It was too unrealistic, compared to the amateuristic nature of the first movie.
JamesMan - 8/24/2014, 6:08 PM
It doesn't sound like she personally never wants to do it but that she doubts a Kick-Ass 3 will ever come due to poor box office.

And this is why piracy is bad you jackasses.
AlexanderLykins - 8/24/2014, 6:11 PM
I'll stick the the MCU or DCCU. Thanks though!
NFSxThanos - 8/24/2014, 6:13 PM
@Superior
That is true, but it also comes down to the overflow of movies coming out at one time, how much it cost to go to a movie and ratings. Ratings are starting to make a big difference now. In the past, all you had to do was put a well known and respected director or actors name on the poster and everyone would show up. Now, if it is poorly reviewed, people don't want to spend $10 on a mediocre more. Also, when you have 4 movies coming out a week, no one has the money to see every single one that weekend, plus gas, snacks and such. With most homes now having decent televisions and sound systems, customers are more willing to wait for instant demand when it will be cheaper for all with just as good, if not sometimes better quality then that of the theater. For me, I love the experience of going to a theater. But when a theater only makes 8 cents a ticket, it cost a lot to truly enjoy the experience when it breaks the bank.
AlexanderLykins - 8/24/2014, 6:14 PM
Give her 5 years, she's going to be a stunner.
storyteller - 8/24/2014, 6:15 PM
Honestly I don't think Kick Ass 3 would really work with the movies. They essentially make Kickass 3 null. Aaron Johnson isn't some small guy and Chloe would look even more like a college aged women.

Her character didn't go to jail. His character was training to be a real threat.

Kickass 3 doesn't tell a story that naturally continues from the movies.
EasternEagle - 8/24/2014, 6:16 PM
@ManCalledSting She wasn't in Zombieland
bigdannymac - 8/24/2014, 6:16 PM

@IslandBoyDrew - JINX! You owe me a beer bro! lol
Amazing512 - 8/24/2014, 6:18 PM
I'm with AlexanderLykins. The MCU and hopefully a decent DCCU is all I need.
NFSxThanos - 8/24/2014, 6:18 PM
To me, Kiss Ass 2 felt "empty". There was more to it than the first, but I couldn't help but feel like there was nothing to want me to get involved in the story. I tried to enjoy it, but I felt like there was too much craziness to believe could happen. The first movie played with that concept, but still kept you grounded, where as the second felt less plausible. Just less motivated in some ways.
JamesMan - 8/24/2014, 6:18 PM
I'm not to bothered by a third not happening though. Really 2 left off fine so there isn't much purpose to a 3rd. I just hate it when series end on a 2, it just feels so incomplete.
DrKinsolving - 8/24/2014, 6:20 PM
I thought the Kick-Ass movies were cool, I would've watched a 3rd.... But, I'm not surprised, Sin City 2 is bombing and that's an R-Rated CBM....
AlexanderLykins - 8/24/2014, 6:22 PM
Another thing while piracy is on the mind. This is why I go see MCU movies 5 or 6 times during their time in theaters.
fettastic - 8/24/2014, 6:22 PM
The reason it was so heavily pirated is because it got such shitty reviews people didn't want to spend money on it.

So pirates didn't ruin the movie, the MOVIE ruined the movie.

Notice how Marvel isn't saying "Sorry, we can't make any more movies because of pirates".
Zarog - 8/24/2014, 6:23 PM
The worst article title I have ever seen. Nowhere does she say she's not interested in the character. She states it's sad that there likely won't be more movies and she won't get to play the character again.
AlexanderLykins - 8/24/2014, 6:24 PM
@JamesMan
"I'm not to bothered by a third not happening though. Really 2 left off fine so there isn't much purpose to a 3rd. I just hate it when series end on a 2, it just feels so incomplete."

I know what you mean.
JamesMan - 8/24/2014, 6:26 PM
The problem is though that piracy has a MUCH larger effect on films with a $30 million budget, small fanbase, and an R-rating than ones with $170 million budgets, large fanbase, and a PG-13.
Sipprelle - 8/24/2014, 6:26 PM
@RorMachine So I just can't see it while editing the article or previewing it?
