Tom Cruise Takes Aim In New OBLIVION Still; New Trailer Tomorrow

We've already seen a pretty underwhelming (at least in my opinion) trailer for Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski's upcoming sci-fi flick, but can the new one debuting tomorrow make up for it? Check out a new action shot of Mr Cruise in the meantime..

Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man’s confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete. Living and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Oblivion is based on director Joseph Kosinski's own graphic novel, and opens in IMAX theaters on April 12, conventional theaters on April 19. Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa also star.

I thought it was the complete opposite Nick56, came across cliched, unoriginal and predictable to me. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I'm a huge Cruise fan, Oblivion is one of my most anticipated films of the year. I know it'll be good, I'm hoping it's better than just good though.

typical cruise flick.

tom jumps
tom looks taller than the midget 5'5" he is
tom finds out he is destined/chosen one/best agent
tom becomes chosen one
tom runs again
tom jumps
some random mother[frick]er dies
tom kisses girl close to end of movie
tom leaves

wash, squeeze, rinse and repeat. and graciously brought to you by the church of scientology.

@...Sweat - You forgot his name is Jack.

Red Box at best and at gun point.

Oblivion with Tom Cruise? I was expecting something to do with Elder Scrolls. Let's have a romantic chick flick movie with Will Smith, call it Skyrim and have it do nothing with dragons. Frickin Hollywood!

Looks great! I also wish they'd cast Olga Kurylenko as the Black Widow. She's a FAR better actress than Scarlett and a WAAAAY better action actress. Plus she's actually Russian. And comes cheaper so they could have spread her around the Marvel Universe at will. And she's way hotter.

First trailer looked awesome so I'm excited to see this movie already.
