New MAN OF STEEL Promo Art Confirms Heat Vision

Check out some promotional material for Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot. We have the covers of several children's story books and also a sticker album which depicts (in a very small image) Supes using his heat vision for the first time..

Although it was always a given really, we had yet to see Superman use his heat vision powers in any of the trailers or promo materials for Man Of Steel, and some fans were a bit concerned that Snyder would be dropping it for this more "grounded" take on the character. Well fear not - if these images are anything to go by, Supes will be frying the bad guys like a boss. I mean after all, how else was he gonna shave that beard off?

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.

Man Of Steel will be with us June 14th, 2013.

SUPERSHADOWBAT - 3/6/2013, 5:48 AM
Coool! Nice for the collection.
TheBaroness89 - 3/6/2013, 5:50 AM
cannot wait for this movie- most likely the best cbm of 2013
bazinga85 - 3/6/2013, 5:51 AM
That's a relief. It would've been pointless for him NOT to have it.
HellsHammer - 3/6/2013, 6:04 AM
I was actually thinking that I wanted to see a pic of his heat vision last night!
HavocPrime - 3/6/2013, 6:07 AM
I like the suits in these pictures
CASH - 3/6/2013, 6:08 AM
These look great! I think I may try to get my hands on that Superpowers book. I would like to know what other abilities he has for the movie. I really don't see them letting him keep his freeze breath.
Gmoney84 - 3/6/2013, 6:10 AM
These look awesome because Cavill is about that build. He truly looks like Superman.
HellsHammer - 3/6/2013, 6:11 AM
Seeing as how they said "Fans will be happy with the news that will be released in the following weeks after Man of Steel" (or something like that) it would be great if they released news of The Flash and Wonder Woman films for 2014 that have been in secret development. Most likely wont be the case but a guy can dream cant he? :p
pepe - 3/6/2013, 6:17 AM
Dont like Zods armor... meh... Kneel b-4 Zod...and open mouth. Mmmm
Chloefornication - 3/6/2013, 6:18 AM
He doesn't have superman's hairstyle...
AlSimmons - 3/6/2013, 6:18 AM
@Levitikuz they only work for the book you buy with them. They don't "stick" per se. It's more of a static cling. Where you never a kid?
0bstreperous - 3/6/2013, 6:24 AM
it also confirms flight!
chris043 - 3/6/2013, 6:24 AM
Still hate, hate, hate the new suit.
LordOfTheZegaRealm - 3/6/2013, 6:26 AM
Glad he still has his laser vision in this movie.
G - 3/6/2013, 6:27 AM
I just hope it's not red laser beams, like it is in the pic. I like what Smallville did with heat vision.
punkstealingluggage - 3/6/2013, 6:28 AM
Yeah...the lack of an "S" on the cape is kinda too bad, but that odd, pointless "belt buckle" is my only REAL issue with the suit.

punkstealingluggage - 3/6/2013, 6:29 AM
Still INFINITELY better looking than his rediculous New 52 getup :/
megabatfan - 3/6/2013, 6:30 AM
@ AlPacino... and yes, me too. LOL.
Glad to know that I'm not the only one that buys toys for kids when I really wanna play with the toys too.
R888 - 3/6/2013, 6:33 AM
Zod looks awesome as hell can't wait to see a new trailer
Spidey91 - 3/6/2013, 6:33 AM
kneel before Iron Ma..err,I mean,Zod :P
KarlKingNerdsBrandNewGroove - 3/6/2013, 6:35 AM
The only superman power that annoys me is ice breath, and yes I know heat vision is just as silly.
Spidey91 - 3/6/2013, 6:36 AM
I like the New 52 suit better than this one actually :/
HellsHammer - 3/6/2013, 6:37 AM
LEVITIKUZ
Just people who are looking to complain about something
HellsHammer - 3/6/2013, 6:40 AM
If heat vision is silly I guess cyclopse is as goofy as a superhero gets
ckal - 3/6/2013, 6:44 AM
Obviously.
CavEl - 3/6/2013, 6:45 AM
Why do people think they're trying to reinvent the wheel? These guys love and respect Superman, they're just trying to bring him into the 2010s. He had been stuck in '78 for years.

He has heat-vision, that's how he shaves. He doesn't have ice breath, it wasn't hinted to being in the movie. So...there.

@ Levi - People just want to bitch. The 52's suit is awesome, my only gripe is the pointless lines. People are against the neck/armor, mostly...
punkstealingluggage - 3/6/2013, 6:46 AM
Well just cuz its slow here at work...

The New 52 costume appears too regal, almost ceremonial in design. The open neckline is almost as iconic as the "S" IMO. And no matter the explanation, the fact that it's some sort of armor is rediculous. Also, just cuz its fun to argue pointlessly with fanboys, the New 52 Supes doesn't have the "S" curl either...

Oh, and The high collar is probably IMPOSSIBLE to hide under a suit and tie as well
TheSoulEater - 3/6/2013, 6:48 AM
Omg omg omg omg omg

Matchow - 3/6/2013, 6:49 AM
Hellshammer I agree news of more films would be awesome however unlikely.
punkstealingluggage - 3/6/2013, 6:51 AM
But whatever...who REALLY gives a sh!t anyway haha
xXkryptoniteXx - 3/6/2013, 6:51 AM
The armor looks nice and it is a nice touch having zod having that Ceaser hair cut.
CavEl - 3/6/2013, 6:52 AM
@ KarlKingNerd - All of Superman's powers are scientific, except flight.

To see how heat-vision works, one only has to look to Eels. Like Superman, Eels gather high concentrations of UV rays into their bodies and convert them into an electric shock. Superman does the same, but he stores the solar energy in his eyes and then releases them in waves of heat.
thewolfx - 3/6/2013, 6:58 AM
[frick] yeah , i hope. When he gets pissed his eyes glow red

Also his hair needs to look like those last few promos
thewolfx - 3/6/2013, 7:01 AM
Who the [frick] said he doesnt have ice breath?

That power is handy and awesome , especially in the injustice gameplay

Some of you kids are odd...
jimoakley666 - 3/6/2013, 7:02 AM
It's already been confirmed with a Lego minifig from MOS with the glowing red eyes.
CavEl - 3/6/2013, 7:04 AM
@ punkstealingluggage -

1.) It is intentionally designed to be ceremonial. That's the point, it's Kryptonian ceremonial clothing.
2.) Neckline isn't as iconic, you're reach. You're fimiliarity doesn't equal iconic.
3.) You got me on the armor.
4.) Spit curl is cheesy and dated, why does Superman stylize his hair before he saves someone? Always bothered me...
5.) The S rip? Oh...think Iron Man's extremis armor...

MrShumway - 3/6/2013, 7:04 AM
No it was confirmed the day that Zack Snyder got the job. A Zack Snyder directed Superman movie without heat vision??? GTFO! That's like a Nolan movie without idiotic plot holes.
CavEl - 3/6/2013, 7:06 AM
The suit materialises, it's not just simply under his suit.
Super12 - 3/6/2013, 7:07 AM
Yeah I think the new 52 suit is great, o pay problem is it looks too much like armor with a few too many lines all over it. Otherwise it's great. Love the no spanks look
OrgasmicPotatoe - 3/6/2013, 7:08 AM
That was the one power I feared they might put aside. I don't know if a "reusable" sticker book (whatever that is) is a reliable source, or if it's only in there to amuse kids.

I'll just accept it and say there is heat vision.
Shuperman147 - 3/6/2013, 7:08 AM
@braniac3000

There is enough buzz on this movie with all these articles and rumors goin around to promote it...they know what they r doing..after the next trailer next month...WB will start kick starting the marketing and within month of release..shit will start to get real. U don't start too early or it gets jaded and people then lose interest
CavEl - 3/6/2013, 7:10 AM
@ GordonShumway - Name one plot-hole in Begins and TDK. I know Rises has a couple, but name 5 of them in Rises.
MrShumway - 3/6/2013, 7:18 AM
@JaketheSuperguy What do I look like, your secretary? [frick]ing Nolanite. Tell you what, 1, no, 2 for delusional Nolanites, 2 cats for 1 plot hole. You give me 2 cats, I name an idiotic plot hole from each of Nolans films. Be sure to have a few dozen cats ready. And only 10% of them kittens, they are for desert. The rest need to be fully grown, well feed, healthy cats.

I'll be waiting.
StrangerX - 3/6/2013, 7:19 AM
Zod looks badass
AlSimmons - 3/6/2013, 7:23 AM
@Levitikuz I grew up in the '90s too, dude. The fancy stickers came around towards the end of the decade.
RorMachine - 3/6/2013, 7:27 AM
Actually, yes!
fettastic - 3/6/2013, 7:27 AM
WHEN can I buy this stuff goddamnit!? There's Iron Man 3 shit all over the place but nothing, NOTHING for Man of Steel!

My son LOVES Superman. He watches the Chris Reeve movies over and over. He's only 2 1/2 but he loves to put on his Superman pajamas with the cape and "fly" around the house. Last week I got him light-up Superman shoes and he never wants to take them off, even for bed!

His mother and I are considering taking him to MOS, but I have to experiment by taking him to a cartoon first because I don't know how he would handle that. Especially since I'm afraid he won't be Superman for like an hour into it. I've been showing him the movie theater on PLaystation Home so he gets an idea what it's like and I can talk to him about the rules.

Anyway, Superman is a great role model and was very important to me growing up so I want to cultivate that relationship as much as possible.
fettastic - 3/6/2013, 7:29 AM
To be honest "heat vision" is retarded. It makes no sense. How can somebody project heat in a concentrated beam from their eyes? I can buy laser vision much easier for some reason.
