TASM 2: Marc Webb Teases 'Patient Zero'

The director has just posted the day #55 Twitter tease from his currently shooting Amazing Spider-Man sequel, and it appears to be an Oscorp diagram for someone (or something) called Patient Zero. The image is that of a spider - could Peter Parker be undergoing tests at Oscorp?

When this hit Twitter, fans immediately jumped to Venom shaped conclusions, but we are pretty sure that character won't be a part of the movie so what's it all about? Well unless the patient IS the spider, it would seem that Oscorp are doing some type of experiments with arachnids (we'll assume of the genetically modified variety) on someone they've dubbed Patient Zero. Could Parker have returned to Oscorp for a superpower to-up? Or does this hearken back to Peter's father's first experiments? Sound off with your thoughts below.

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

LordoftheThrones26 - 4/24/2013, 12:35 PM
This director has the perfect name for a spidey film! Webb! I bet I'm the FIRST to notice that! :-)
Jollem - 4/24/2013, 12:38 PM

What's a spider-man?
ndwwrestler2 - 4/24/2013, 12:43 PM
My only complaint about the first Spiderman was the villain was a bit underwhelming for some reason.

I believe this movie will be great. It won't be a Dark Knight or Iron Man type great, but great nonetheless.
LordoftheThrones26 - 4/24/2013, 12:43 PM

Why did I just see that spoiler???
PeterParker1991 - 4/24/2013, 12:58 PM
Flashback. Calling it now. And besides that, I'm pretty sure Richard Parker didn't experiment on spiders in the comics. I think that was Ben Reiley, though some twists I don't mind. Either way this film is shaping up nicely

CaptainAmerica31 - 4/24/2013, 1:20 PM
Patient zero is Norman Osborn, Osborn was gonna use the Spiders or spider to cure himself.
CaptainAmerica31 - 4/24/2013, 1:25 PM
(ala ultimate spiderman)
Jollem - 4/24/2013, 1:36 PM

They mislabeled 'pedipalp' on the diagram.
IIIAdamantiumIII - 4/24/2013, 1:57 PM
can you say doppelganger ?
DeadPoolLax - 4/24/2013, 2:27 PM
patient zero is peter parker (with the spider)... oscorp decided to use peter as their first test subject of cross species genetics... peter's mom and dad were at what happened to peter so they left to find justice, but found death by (wait for it.....) NORMAN OSBORN.

if i'm right i should play the lottery....
Odin - 4/24/2013, 2:38 PM
@IIIAdamantiumIII or maybe werespider

Not really hoping that thou.
exe - 4/24/2013, 2:40 PM
That detail better be important. Webb keeps tweeting useless stuff.
Nomis1800 - 4/24/2013, 2:46 PM
Spin.
RedShirtDeadpool - 4/24/2013, 2:54 PM
I think it might be Doppelganger or the original of the advanced spiders from TASM.
bbarber2323 - 4/24/2013, 3:12 PM
@Lordofthethrones...wow ur intelligent Captain Obvious.

@BlackSurge...you REALLY had to say you thought about that whole "Webb" thing?? I mean seriously...grow up moron. Does your ego have its own account here too?
thewolfx - 4/24/2013, 5:33 PM
Did that kid just call manspider werespider?
IIIAdamantiumIII - 4/24/2013, 5:42 PM
@ the wolf that would be spider-x, Man-Spider is when peter mutates...
birdfists - 4/24/2013, 8:01 PM
Oh god..

that's why Norman is sick, he experimented on himself with the spiders before they worked fully and has lead to him becoming very sick.

Somehow Peter is going to be getting sick too, and he'll have to find a cure, but this far into Norman's mutation he'll become the Goblin with the use of the cure.

I don't like all of this Oscorp crap.
Phlegmbot - 4/24/2013, 10:11 PM
Dear Marc Webb:

Please stop Tweeting images from the set of your follow-up to your mediocre Amazing Spider-Man movie. It's not building anticipation.

Seeing Jamie Foxx dressed in his electric jellyfish makeup, then as The Nutty Professor didn't help. We'll assume, in both cases, it'll be better on film.

And let's not forget the almost universal negative reaction to Woodley's first appearance on-set.

Also, it was bad enough that you put Brooklyn-style brownstones in the middle of Manhattan in the first film and, overall, portrayed NYC about as realistically as Disney's Mary Poppins did w/London in its 1960s film, but now you think every prop and character is worth Tweeting?

No. Stop it. Keep a lid on it. Follow the JJ Abrams mold. Build anticipation by keeping quiet. Make us look forward to it, rather than giving us reasons to pick it apart.

Thank you.

@thewolfx Relax buddy, I konow what manspider is, and I found that pick by googling "Spider-X". I just wanted to use clearer term...which seems kinda stupid when I think of it now.
