Chris Hemsworth On Thor & Loki's Relationship In THOR: THE DARK WORLD

Various sites have been given the go-ahead to post their on-set roundtable interview with Chris Hemsworth from last October, and probably the most interesting thing discussed is Thor's evolving relationship with his treacherous brother Loki.

We already know from the first trailer that Thor will come to Loki for help in defeating a common enemy, and it seems that the two will work together -- but will there actually be any true brotherly love there? While speaking to Screenrant about it Chris Hemsworth is careful not to give too much away as it pertains to the plot of the movie, but it definitely sounds like it might not JUST be a case of the enemy of my enemy is my friend; Thor may still have some "empathy" for his trickster brother after all.

“I can’t say too much, but I think in the comic books you kind of roll your eyes sometimes at the amount of times they’re back to being best friends. And so we wanted to keep in mind, Loki did just try to kill you for the seventh time – and Earth. It’s a big war, and what have you… Maybe there’s something we can maybe, [CHUCKLE] … We have a common need or something which, you know, that would, well… [laughs] You know the scene in Avengers when Thor says ‘careful how you speak. He be crazy but it’s my brother,’ kind of sums it up. Yeah, he’s a screw up but he is my brother. I don’t think they’re back to being best friends, but Thor’s at a loss about how they got to this point, ’cause for him, I think [treachery] stuff came out of nowhere and I think that in this film [Thor] certainly can acknowledge now with a maturity that he should have been more aware of Loki over the years and where he was positioned and all of this, and why maybe that led him down a certain path. I think there’s maybe an empathetic view for Loki that no one else can have because they’re not bound by blood, you know.”

Loki is most likely going to betray him or will find out it was his plan all along.
SnapperCarr - 8/6/2013, 9:41 AM
Hopefully they show it in the movie
SnapperCarr - 8/6/2013, 9:42 AM
Hemsworth would have made a good Aquaman and Hiddleson a good Ocean Master

How they got there? You were a war hungry psychopath who wasn't learning a damn stupid thing until Loki said your Dad was dead and sent the Destroyer to kill you. Meanwhile he is all about watching your crazy frat boy ass while Dad is like You can never rule, you little prick because no matter how much Thor sucks, he's not a little smurf baby. There you go Thor, summed up how you got there.
Course Loki, sorta took it a touch too far with the whole trying to kill you and helping Frost Giants invade but hey? Can't make an omelet without killing a few dads right?
MrReese - 8/6/2013, 9:54 AM

MisterNiceGuy - 8/6/2013, 10:08 AM
@beto, oh ok lol I was going to say just sneak the food and drinks in too but it sounds like things are very different where you're from compared to where I go to the movies. me and a buddy of mine actually did it a couple of times spending12 hours or more in the theater just seeing everything possible its a lot of fun. we even brought in Wendys. god bless cargo shorts
Seejay - 8/6/2013, 10:09 AM
Natasha Romanoff: He killed eighty people in two days.
Thor: He's adopted.
PLUSH - 8/6/2013, 10:10 AM
I know Loki and Thor are brothers but I always thought one of 'em were gay
TheWolverine08 - 8/6/2013, 10:11 AM
@beto I think Thor: The Dark World will be a very high quality film, and I doubt Hunger Games will beat it at the box office.
MisterNiceGuy - 8/6/2013, 10:12 AM
@beto, yea those 12 hour days are way behind me now though. nowadays I do about two or three movies at most.
Seejay - 8/6/2013, 10:12 AM
@Nomis - 8/6/2013, 9:56 AM

Yeah. :)

Btw. Marvel Knights dark, gritty, medieval world of Thor is simply better.
TheWolverine08 - 8/6/2013, 10:13 AM
@Supercat You bastard! LMAO!!!!!!!!!
JoJo1982 - 8/6/2013, 10:16 AM
@beto don't worry your not the only one.... I thought Thor was really good the first, then after about 5 or 10 minutes of him being on Earth it turn into a pretty meh movie.
I hope this new Thor dark world is good, the hype for this movie isn't as big cause ppl are a little worried but it should make good on box office until Hunger Games comes out and dethrone it
mdwilliamson24 - 8/6/2013, 10:19 AM
In the US, the Hunger Games will destroy Thors box office numbers.
World wide? Maybe not.
MisterNiceGuy - 8/6/2013, 10:21 AM
Weren't we supposed to get the voice actors for Groot and Rocket Racoon a week after SDCC?
JoJo1982 - 8/6/2013, 10:22 AM
@Wolverine08

Yeah as much like Thor and don't really like Hunger Games.... To be honest Thor 2 is not going to Beat Hunger Games in the box office
fettastic - 8/6/2013, 10:30 AM
I saw The Hunger Games, I can't remember where. Someone rented it or something. I'm stunned it was so successful because it was pretty bland.

It was also stunnigly obvious that it was a combination of these two stories:

JoJo1982 - 8/6/2013, 10:30 AM
@beto

Yeah imma big Marvel... and DC, yes folks ppl like that do exist. I honestly thought Thor went downhill its last half of the movie(except 4 the Loki and Thor relationship). But say I saw the SDCC footage of Thor 2, it looks pretty badazz but your right don't be fooled by trailers these days
BritishMonkey - 8/6/2013, 10:39 AM
Thor in this does sound to be more wiser and mature. I like this a lot. You already saw bits of it in Avengers and I think a big change in Thor from Thor to Avengers.
TheWolverine08 - 8/6/2013, 10:41 AM
@BritishMonkey92 Very true. Thor has had a very subtle increase in maturity.
JettJagguarrr - 8/6/2013, 10:46 AM
@fettastic.....NO!! Hunger Games was a ripoff of this classic movie...

JoJo1982 - 8/6/2013, 10:49 AM
Can go on and on what Hunger Games is a rip off of......

Battle Royale is the main one!!!

Death Race

Gamer

Running Man
