X-MEN: DOFP: Ellen Page Would Be Up For That Solo 'Kitty Pryde' Movie

Although he's currently a little busy making movies for a different studio, Joss Whedon has said in the past that he loves the character of Kitty Pryde so much that he'd be interested in directing a solo flick featuring her. Well, perhaps not very surprisingly, Ellen page would happily star in it!

Although Ellen Page will return as Kitty Pryde for Bryan Singer's X-men: Days Of Future Past, we now know that she won't be playing quite as big a role as we expected, as it'll be Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) doing to time hopping in this version of the story. But that hasn't seemed to bother Page any, who seems very excited to be reprising the role from Brett Ratner's X-Men 3. In fact she enjoys playing the character so much, that when Vulture asked for her thoughts on The Avengers director Joss Whedon stating that he'd love to make a Kitty Pryde movie, she said the following.

"I have heard that, yeah! Well, I'm available! [Laughs.] I love that. Kitty Pryde's awesome. I'm super grateful to be the actress who's gotten to be her, and you only desperately hope that the true fans who have a right to demand what they want and who have been passionate about these stories for a really long time, that you can pull it off for them. I would be so thrilled to play Kitty Pryde again. I really would."

Now obviously the way the rights are at the moment, and Whedon being Marvel Studios' golden boy, this is unlikely to ever happen -- but maybe someday someone will bring us a solo Shadowcat movie, and even throw Lockheed in there as well! What do you guys think? Is she a character you';d even like to see get a spin-off movie?

JordanKing - 9/7/2013, 12:36 PM
Right. That's what the world is missing. A Kitty Pride movie.
WhiteBolt - 9/7/2013, 12:36 PM
Such a cutie.
MrCBM56 - 9/7/2013, 12:44 PM
A solo Kitty Pride movie would be shit unless it includes Colossus for obvious reasons.
McNyagano - 9/7/2013, 12:46 PM
Too Late. X-Men:DOFP was suppose to Kitty's movie but nope, Wolverine is getting the spotlight again.[frick] Singer.
thewonderer - 9/7/2013, 12:50 PM
DOFP, the film, involves sending someone back about 50 years into the mind of their younger self.

It doesn't make any sense for anyone but Wolverine to go.
McNyagano - 9/7/2013, 12:51 PM
@0megaDaGod

"Unless she's playing wolverine, I doubt she's getting a movie"

I see what you did there lol xD

SoundWave - 9/7/2013, 12:52 PM
Epic great news! And she also will DIRECT it! Let it be! It must be awsome X-men solo movie with some new mutants around her, with some adventures in Xavier's School before Wolverine has came, and etc! Ellen is so cute and amazing!
KidGoku - 9/7/2013, 12:52 PM
No.

Beast could go back. Why not him?
TheBlackNerd - 9/7/2013, 12:52 PM
No to the solo Kitty Pryde movie for me! lol

We should have a solo Cyclops film. There's a lot of interesting details about the summers family. It would be a great way to get fans both old and new more enthusiastic about how far Cyclops has come. I only read a few age of apocalypse comics and watched many episodes of the 90's X-Men and it was those two pieces that caused me to have a change of heart when it came to the idea of a Cyclops origin film.

I'm also looking forward to the Magneto solo film Fox is working on. I'd love to see some more explanation towards Magneto's relationship with his offspring a and possibly the involvement with him and Genosia. It can be a very movable film to make fans see why Mags isn't just an antagonist but a dark activist!
TheBlackNerd - 9/7/2013, 12:55 PM
@McNyagano

"Beast could go back. Why not him?"

Because there's a high chance that he's possibly I dunno...DEAD! lol jk bro but honestly I think Beast is dead in the future timeline so yeah.
Newbus - 9/7/2013, 12:57 PM
Why couldn't Xavier go back considering he has to find his younger self.
MrCBM56 - 9/7/2013, 12:57 PM
I've been wondering though, couldn't Magneto or Professor X go back in time. I mean, they were born in that time, they know the mistakes they made and how to fix them. Why not just send them both back in time and persuade their younger selves not to do what they did?
McNyagano - 9/7/2013, 12:59 PM

Because Wolverine needs to be the centre of attention again. I mean Beast or Bishop could do it But nope, Fox has to whore out Wolvie again. -___-
gambgel - 9/7/2013, 1:01 PM
Love Ellen Page, and I feel so proud to have her on my fave franchise.

A solo movie is 99% unlikely, but I hope Fox and Singer have plans for more team movies with Ellen on board again.

The more Kittty the better! (and the less Wolverine too, maybe next time...)
TheBlackNerd - 9/7/2013, 1:01 PM
And how would you expect Kitty to go back to her younger body telepathically if she wasn't even born back then in 70's??? (According to Singers universe that is)

Better question for all the guys reading the comments section...

"Is it possible that we can now have Gambit be part of the X-Men roster since we're back in the 70's!? If you guys saw XO: Wolverine Gambit is most def roaming around somewhere!"

"How should Storm, Scott, Jean and Colossus be introduced?? They should all be much younger at least in their mid to late teen years!"

"What year do you think a sequel to days of future past should take place? 80's, 90's or current 2010's+??"

"What possible villains would you like to see I'm future X-Men sequels to DoFP? Apocalypse? Mr.Sinister? Shadow King? Shi'ar??
TheBlackNerd - 9/7/2013, 1:02 PM
Lets start throwing some ideas out! I always love hearing you guys responses! Gets me more hyped! lol
McNyagano - 9/7/2013, 1:04 PM
@TheBlackMan

Beast exists in the 70's -_- And isn't Bishop a time-traveller as well???
MrCBM56 - 9/7/2013, 1:04 PM
"Because Wolverine needs to be the centre of attention again. I mean Beast or Bishop could do it But nope, Fox has to whore out Wolvie again. -___-"

OH YEAH!

But I am excited for DOFP. Should be good. Just don't [frick] up the sentinels and I hope Singer remembered that this is/should be more of a sequel to first class than X-men last stand. In the SDCC trailer, the future characters were too much in the spotlight.
TheBlackNerd - 9/7/2013, 1:07 PM
@McNyagano

I'm saying that Beast is probably DEAD in the future timeline! So how can he time travel if there's a Hugh possibility that he's dead. Unless you're referring to a 70's beast time traveling to the future I guess I can see what you're saying, after all Macoy is very intelligent. And Bishop is actually one who travels in time in the 90's cartoon but I believe Forge helped him go back in time.
McNyagano - 9/7/2013, 1:08 PM
@MrCBM56

"Just don't [frick] up the sentinels"

McNyagano - 9/7/2013, 1:10 PM
@TheBlackMan

Beast is still alive according to X-Men 3. Besides, Bishop is a [frick]ing time-traveller, why can't go back to the past??
TheBlackNerd - 9/7/2013, 1:15 PM
@McNyagano

Beast may be alive during X-Men: The Last Stand but who is to say he didn't die between the aftermath of that film and the beginning of future past. And besides the original Days of Future Past comic had neither Wolverine or Bishop travel to the past. So due to the fact that Singer created a universe where Kitty isn't born yet it kind of bites him back. However Wolverine is a very interesting choice because its a new approach and I don think the spot light will be mainly on him it'll be a mixture of him Young Prof.X, Mags and Mystique with a pinch of all the other X-Men suffering in the future!
Ocelot - 9/7/2013, 1:16 PM
Magneto wears the helmet which blocks off anything from [frick]ing with his mind.

Professor X's mind is too powerfull.

Kitty isn't born yet neither is Bishop.

Wolverine's an ageless character, so he actually makes the most sense.
Tymminator - 9/7/2013, 1:21 PM
The Beast is only dead if its written that way, it is already different fron the original story so making it Beast would just be one more change. Making it Logan for this is just as big of a change as it is.

They could make it anyone who exists from the 70's and simply write them alive and kicking in the future.

It would have been more interesting to me if they would have even made it Mystique.

It's obvious they are just centering on Logan, that's the only reason.
MrCBM56 - 9/7/2013, 1:21 PM
Ocelot

I agree, it's most logical for Wolvie to go back..
caroldanvers - 9/7/2013, 1:24 PM
ugh no, she's such a terrible kitty. they should have recasted her imo.
McNyagano - 9/7/2013, 1:24 PM
@Ocelot

Beast, Mystique and I'm pretty sure Bishop is born. He's a time traveller God-Dammit.

@TheBlackMan

Mystique could go back :) She exists in the 70's.
Shadowmaster35 - 9/7/2013, 1:24 PM
Love me some Ellen Page and Kitty Pride is my main comic crush so I'm happy all around just gettin to see her back in the role next year.
McNyagano - 9/7/2013, 1:32 PM
@0megaDaGod

"It makes more sense for wolverine to go back in time in a movie featuring Bishop."

And Beast as well as Mystique.

faver - 9/7/2013, 1:34 PM
Honestly, I never liked her as Kitty. Page can do better with a good script, I'm sure. We've only seen her as Kitty in X3 and that was a very weak film. Who knows, maybe after DOFP the road is open for more films with the original cast.

I don't think they could pull off a Kitty Pryde solo movie, but an X-Men film with her as one of the leads? Hell yes. Whedon's Astonishing X-Men is arguably a Kitty Pryde story, and an amazing one. This is one of those cases where I honestly think Whedon would be the best man for the job (NOT directing though, he's a much stronger writer that director). And his contract with Marvel is up in 2015. It won't happen, but a man can dream.
gambgel - 9/7/2013, 1:40 PM
People deffeding Wolverine as the only possible option doesnt have a [frick]ing clue about all the possibilities of Time travel.

Bishop, Cable and many other mutants have time traveled many times in the comics, and mind travel is NOT the only option. Even Blink can open portals to other universes, so they could have used her as a time traveler if they wanted.

Kitty should have had a big role in this movie, not Wolverine, that has had two solo movies and was the main character in all the trilogy. This is TOO MUCH. Its gettting really boring and repetitive.

Fox and directors just doesnt care too much about the other x-men and seem to be Obsesed with Wolverine, when there are many other characters much more interesting and powerfull than him.
HulkbusterNYC - 9/7/2013, 1:45 PM
It would be really cool to get the original team in an X-Men reboot with no Wolverine.. Just Cyke, Jean, Beast, Angel, Iceman & Professor X.. Introduce other characters in the sequels and build from there.. It'll never happen but I would love to see it..
McNyagano - 9/7/2013, 1:45 PM

CherryBomb - 9/7/2013, 1:46 PM
EXCALIBUR MOVIE
CherryBomb - 9/7/2013, 1:48 PM
Less Wolverine more Kitty.
This movie should've been Kitty's chance to really shine!
Or atleast make her go along with Wolverine as his sidekick.

But no, their fetish for Wolverine strikes again.
anarchyspock - 9/7/2013, 1:48 PM
Sounds awesome to me!
McNyagano - 9/7/2013, 1:51 PM
@McNyagano

I'm tired of [frick]ing Wolverine getting the spot light. He has his own two solo flicks and he has to come and be the centre of attention in an X-Men movie again??? uuurggggghhh It's now getting repetitive. I wanna see other mutants shine you know, like Storm, Cyclops, Mystique and others. Not Wolverine every god damn time. We are tired of it, jesus.
