REAL LIFE: SUPERMAN Fan Goes Through 16 Years Of Surgery To Look Like His Idol

35 year old Filipino dressmaker Herbert Chavez has spent 16 years and over 4 grand to transform his face (and some of his body) into Superman's, complete with trademark cleft chin. The end result is...well, click on to see for yourselves..

I guess Herbert Chavez REALLY likes Superman. Like 300,000 pesos (about £4,400) and 16 years of cosmetic surgery really. The dressmaker from Calamba City, Philippines has nose jobs, skin whitening, lip liposuction, jaw realignment, pectoral implants and even abdominal implants in an attempt to replicate the classic looks of his favorite superhero.. and he doesn't regret it one bit. Chavez isn't content with just (kinda) resembling Supes though, he does do some good work while he's at it; taking to the streets in an attempt to "bring good morals to the kids of Calamba City". You can find out what he has to say in full below.

"I feel like a Superhero whenever I pull on the costume. But my mission is not to save the world but to help in my own small way and bring a smile to the faces of local children. If you talk about super heroes, the expectation of people is that they are flawless, they do not get hurt, they do not die. But as human beings, we can only copy their looks. I have very Asian features, and did not look like the caucasian Superman. So when I was able to save enough money to alter my features, I chose to copy those of Superman. It is hard living up to people's expectations as a living superhero. That is the reason I have had so many surgeries because I undergo maintenance procedures that need performing. I don't have any regrets at all. People come up to me in the street all the time and want their picture taken with me. They are all really excited to see a real-life Superman in the Philippines."

Hey kids! Lets me teach you a lesson on self image...if you save your money you can look like anyone...not comfortable in your own skin look like someone else!!!

I second @levi's comment
TheMexicanSuperman - 9/10/2013, 6:38 AM
That is good for good for him, and he can spend HIS money anyway he wants to. Should of went with the Henry Cavill look, instead of Brandon Routh.
RyGoR - 9/10/2013, 6:38 AM
Maybe if I save enough I can look like cyborg...one day.... one day....
RyGoR - 9/10/2013, 6:39 AM

Y'know, this would have been much more interesting if his ultimate goal was Power Girl.
lolken - 9/10/2013, 6:47 AM
He doesn't look like superman haha.. would have done him more good to work out at the gym... Or maybe spend the money on a suit that doesn't give him camel toe.
GetsugaTensho22 - 9/10/2013, 6:47 AM
This is old. Like, a couple of years old. I think we already had an article covering him on CBM from a while back.
JatevinM - 9/10/2013, 6:49 AM
Yet he still doesn't look like Superman lol
SupermanEchols - 9/10/2013, 6:51 AM

gambgel - 9/10/2013, 6:52 AM

CommanderCobra74 - 9/10/2013, 6:53 AM
Cobra's Crimson Guards are expected to have plastic surgery to "blend in" with their surroundings---well, he's defintely "blending in" with the surroundings of his room.
PersonOfNoInterest - 9/10/2013, 6:54 AM
Couldn't he... I don't know... make HIS OWN image into that of a hero? Couldn't he do something with his own life that makes him into what he likes about Superman?

Well... I guess if we have the technology... we really shouldn't begrudge someone their decision to look how they want. Changing your face and body is slightly more difficult than changing your clothes, but it's at least possible... so more power to him, I guess.

I think everyone's reaction to the Brandon Routh image is the same... but I think the reason he went for that look is because it was the closest to his actual look and thus, the easiest image to transform into.
Tetrahedron - 9/10/2013, 6:55 AM
So...his idol was Michael Jackson?
knocturnalzen10 - 9/10/2013, 6:55 AM

126thst - 9/10/2013, 6:58 AM
This is old news. This story's been around for years.. We have officially entered the dark period for CBM news.
2gold - 9/10/2013, 6:59 AM
Maybe he should have spent his money trying to cure that case of really balls insane he seems to have come down with instead?
SimonM7 - 9/10/2013, 6:59 AM
Hopefully he didn't surgically put underwear on the outside.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 9/10/2013, 7:00 AM
Who told levi to dress up. Batman vs. Superman isn't going to be released until 2015.
Motts24ma - 9/10/2013, 7:01 AM
