"The Strain" is a high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

The Strain premieres July 2014 on FX.

I read the books and they are a fun read....

Having said that I remember thinking when I was reading that it would be cheesy horror movie stuff if they did a movie...instead they're doing tv...lol oh and the vampires have weird Blade II/ Predator style jaw opening things.

Here's hoping for the best though

At least these are not "pretty" vampires.

Books 1 and 2 were awesome. Book 3 not so much, but on the whole it was a pretty good trilogy. I'm looking forward to this.

Vampires are so done. They lost their edge long before 'Twilight' totally killed and then overkilled the genre. Enough of the hyperstylish leather trenchcoat wearing European aristocrat looking vampires that dress and act like they're going to out party at the club with royals and billionaire trust fund kids.

They're blood-sucking, undead monsters. They should be nasty, uncivilized due to having to live solitary and secret lives and vicious.

They should not look like this:

Retrofit, the vamps in this are dark creatures not those brooding sissies
