CROSSBONES? DAMAGE CONTROL? Find Out Which Marvel "One Shot" Could Be Next

While talking to Total Film, Iron Man 3 and All Hail The King scribe Drew Pearce reveals that he's written "lots" of other shorts for Marvel. Although there's no guarantee any of them will get made, he spills the names of a few possibilities.

It turns out that Drew Pearce has been trying to write and direct a "One Shot" for Marvel since his (currently shelved) script for Runaways was picked up. As well as stating that he's still hopeful that a Runaways movie will eventually see the light of day, he drops the names of a few characters that were the focus of some of his other scripts before Sir Ben Kingsley's involvement pushed All Hail The King to the top of the queue.

"One was Sin and Crossbones (from Captain America). I love Jessica Jones, and while obviously Jessica Jones and Alias is NOW going to exist in the Netflix part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I'd always obsessively been trying to put her in stuff I'd been working with Marvel on… but about three or four other ones, too. My Marvel obsession with Damage Control is still there… but it's pretty difficult to make into a short. The clue is in the title that you have to do a lot of damage to then control it - and that's not really in the budget of a short movie. I just think it's got huge potential as a franchise."

If we were to see one of the above I'd say Crossbones (who will be introduced in Captain America: The Winter Soldier) would be most likely. So far the One Shots tend to have focused on previously established characters such as Peggy Carter and Phil Coulson, so it would be something new for Marvel to introduce the likes of Jessica Jones before we'd so much as had a glimpse of her in a movie - but with her tv series now in development, who knows? These names are just the latest in a long line of possibilities for these short films though...who do you hope to see get the One Shot treatment next?

marvel72 - 2/6/2014, 7:25 AM

@ grif

even the thanos one at the end of the avengers,you gotta admit that was pretty cool.
McNyagano - 2/6/2014, 7:31 AM
Does Grif ever say anything posistive?
AstonishingArachnid - 2/6/2014, 7:32 AM
The one shot for Winter Solider should detail Hawkeye's absence and what he's been up to. I know this probably won't happen but I thought it would be pretty awesome if Hawkeye was taking a break from SHIELD to clear his head and at the same time protecting people like, a vigilante (think Matt Fraction's run). Heck even give him his original costume due to him wanting to look more like a superhero.
SuperCat - 2/6/2014, 7:33 AM
@ McNy

He's positive that everything is sh@t :)

I think you could put Damage Control on AoS or it would work as a series on Netflix.
AGoodHonestMan - 2/6/2014, 7:36 AM
The biggest thing I got out of this is that the Netflix shows will be connected with the MCU!
Thevenominside - 2/6/2014, 7:40 AM
ironic he wants damage control.............after iron man 3............
TheGreenNinja - 2/6/2014, 7:40 AM
uhmm....
tongtong - 2/6/2014, 7:44 AM
Make the One-Shots around the AoS. The show could really use it.
thewonderer - 2/6/2014, 7:45 AM
Is Crossbones even going to wear a mask in Cap 2.

Seriously, there has been no evidence of this in anything I've seen. Is he just going to be watered down like all grey armor Falcon and Cargo pant Baltroc?
Pedrito - 2/6/2014, 7:48 AM
@grif
then you will love that the latest one-shot has its own after-credits scene.

What about the short movies supposed to accompany the next DC films?
fettastic - 2/6/2014, 7:49 AM
@Enphlieuwince, you said "all Marvel Studios' one shots are meant to be damage control."

You know....I hadn't thought of it like that until you said it, but YEAH! So far that's exactly what they have been! Thanks for pointing it out!
Pedrito - 2/6/2014, 7:51 AM
We need a one-shot of Hawkeye.
Featuring pizza dog.
Enphlieuwince - 2/6/2014, 7:53 AM
@fettastic

I alse described that type of statement as the logic of a Marvel Studios hater. If that's you, then you're welcome...
Enphlieuwince - 2/6/2014, 7:56 AM
@0mega

IKR. It's a hell of an operation they got going on. It takes persistence to hate that well...
MercwithMouth - 2/6/2014, 7:57 AM
Crossbones! Definitely.

MercwithMouth - 2/6/2014, 7:58 AM
@0mega

I thought they confirmed the MCU status when they announced the shows?
marvel72 - 2/6/2014, 7:59 AM
@ Pedrito

if hawkeye got a marvel one shot with a run time of 15 minutes,that would be more screen time than he got for the whole of the avengers & his thor cameo put together. :D
charlie2094 - 2/6/2014, 8:00 AM
Loved All Hail the King, the one-shots have been consistently getting better and better...be cool to see Crossbones, if they get that out on maybe the Cap blu-ray could be good, assume we wont see him in a mask until Cap 3
MCUfan1 - 2/6/2014, 8:06 AM
Marvel One shots should be used for continuity in the MCU only.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 2/6/2014, 8:06 AM

Aquarius baby. Oh and I want a crossbones and sin one shot.
MercwithMouth - 2/6/2014, 8:06 AM
All Hail the King was awesome. Sir Ben was in top form. I haven't seen any of the others though. Were Agent Carter and Item 47 good?
MercwithMouth - 2/6/2014, 8:08 AM
Shit, @Remy's older than me??

Happy Birthday man!

BadassBay - 2/6/2014, 8:09 AM
Marvel really should start putting one shots before the movies at the cinema. That way they could introduce characters and test the reactions of the general audience.
Then put smaller one shots (along the lines of "item 47") with the DVD releases.
DrDoom - 2/6/2014, 8:09 AM
One Shots to do:

Warriors Three, featuring the three going on a mini-adventure. It would be great since we've already seen quality one-shots based on Cap franchise (Agent Carter) and Iron Man franchise (All Hail the King)
Crossbones and Sin sounds dope as hell. A heist movie, perhaps? Make it.
A Damage Control one-shot where they are cleaning up one of the major superhero battles would be hilarious.
I'd also like to see a one-shot made of the deleted scenes involving Malekith, explaining his back story and the history of the Dark Elves.
One last thing: I'd love to see a one-shot tied to The Incredible Hulk. Perhaps one starring Betty Ross as she tries to find Bruce after the events of Avengers. It would be great to see Liv Tyler in the role again, and perhaps get another appearance of William Hurt.

charlie2094 - 2/6/2014, 8:09 AM
@Merc

Agent Carter was pretty good, definitely worth a watch for sure! Item 47's ok, worth a watch but not near as good as the last two
MercwithMouth - 2/6/2014, 8:09 AM
@0mega

Otay... Should've just been said. I think everyone assumed as much anyways. Everything else have been connected. But, studios love to play the denial game.
PsychoticSpaceRaccoon - 2/6/2014, 8:14 AM
You can't even be mad at Grif. He (or she?) treats all shit equally.
jimoakley666 - 2/6/2014, 8:20 AM
They should have filmed a Damage Control short on the wrecked city sets of both The Incredible Hulk & Avengers. They could have had them loading up Abomination and Chitauri corpses.
MercwithMouth - 2/6/2014, 8:21 AM
Link doesn't work @Marvelicious
DEVLIN712 - 2/6/2014, 8:21 AM
Omega
Came her to say about the NetflixMCU thing but you beat me too it. Is it time for us to get excited?
breakUbatman - 2/6/2014, 8:21 AM
AHTK was the best followed by Agent Carter, not a fan of what The Consultant did to TIH.

I'd love to see Ross or Blonsky pop up somewhere even if they have to keep him in the shadows for budget constraints.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 2/6/2014, 8:22 AM
@merc yeah man I'm 28. Thanx for the bday wishes. Now I need a ride to tonights festivities from @gusto in his van. ;p

@Doom good idea on those one shots. And your right for a damage control would be easy and funny. Just throw guys in orange suits on a damaged avengers 2 set piece and boom you have your one shot.
MercwithMouth - 2/6/2014, 8:25 AM
I will admit, a Damage Control short focusing on Edifice Rex would be pretty cool. And probably funny as hell, maybe bring in Lord Chaos.
