Godzilla (ゴジラ Gojira?) is a 1954 Japanese science fiction kaiju film produced by Toho, directed by Ishirō Honda, and featuring special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya. The film stars Akira Takarada, Momoko Kōchi, Akihiko Hirata, and Takashi Shimura. The plot tells the story of Godzilla, a giant monster mutated by nuclear radiation, who ravages Japan and brings back the horrors of World War II's nuclear devastation to the very nation that experienced it first-hand. It was the first of many kaiju films released in Japan, paving the way and setting the standard for future kaiju films, many of which feature Godzilla.

i'll be pleased if it's even 1/10th as awesome as pacific rim

NinjaKickTheDamnRabbit - 3/8/2014, 6:27 AM
Imo I didn't like Pacific Rim that much. I felt it was really cheesy and I am a huge Kaiju fan. I guess it was all the over acting people did in the film.
konoyaro - 3/8/2014, 6:34 AM
COOL!!!
i believe on the hype!
this gonna be good!!
GetsugaTensho22 - 3/8/2014, 6:53 AM
Couldn't tell the cheap looking Gojira's apart. THAT's how much i hate that stupid design!
I keep saying this over and over, and people stupidly think i' trolling, but the 90s Godzilla was AWESOME in terms of design. He looked scary and very dinosaur like, instead of looking like a man in a fat suit.
OniGoji - 3/8/2014, 7:04 AM
@GetsugaTensho22 there's nothing scary about a mutated iguana that runs away from the military and can be killed from two missiles to the neck and left side.

And people generally hated GINO/98's Zilla because it wasn't Godzilla, and you know you royally [frick]ed up when millions of people from the icon's homeland leave the theater early on upon seeing the creature's full look.

Other than giant monsters, I hope this movie shares nothing with Pacific Rim, that movie was horrible.....just horrible. Cool cgi don't make up for the horrible story, and bad acting from almost everyone.

What a fantastic film the 1954 original is. I have high hopes for the remake.
Jobin - 3/8/2014, 10:31 AM
I agree OldGreg. Cool SFX, and fights, terrible movie overall.

The 1998 Godzilla was only made because Roland Emmerich wanted to rip off Jurassic Park.

CaptainObvious - "The 1998 Godzilla was only made because Roland Emmerich wanted to rip off Jurassic Park."

A little girl leaving the theater said basically the same thing to her father when I saw the TriStar film. It was SO obvious, they couldn't even fool a little girl. That's why you're called Captain Obvious!

FanofMrSunday58 - 3/8/2014, 5:10 PM
That looks awesome. I didn't think a movie trailer with a man in a rubber suit would look just as terrifying as the trailer today.
MightyZeus - 3/8/2014, 5:32 PM
That trailer was well put together. I give credit to its creator.
As for the Godzilla i am looking forward to it.
WerthamWasRight - 3/8/2014, 8:32 PM

Holmes - 3/8/2014, 8:36 PM
love it
HankPymp - 3/8/2014, 10:10 PM
Let's not forget.
Pacific Rim's appeal exists because of Godzilla in the first place.
Or before that, King Kong in 1933.
loki668 - 3/8/2014, 10:46 PM
I enjoyed Pacific Rim, probably because I didn't go into it expecting high art. Just art that you could enjoy while high:)
riseofloganX36 - 3/9/2014, 3:59 PM
Yeah thats right i want a oscer worthy performence in a movie with giant robots fighting giant monsters.
