As we know, a future episode of Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. will tie directly into the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and just now at their PaleyFest panel, producer Jeph Loeb revealed that said epsiode will air on Tuesday, April 8 after the Marvel sequel hits theaters on Friday, April 4. If you've seen Cap 2, you'll know how the events of that movie would have to have some ramifications for the tv show -- but since most of you haven't, I won't spoil things here. When asked whether these events would be addressed Loeb responded: “It makes sense. It would certainly not surprise anyone if things did happen from the movie that we're mentioning on the show that we're talking about.” Here are the rest of the highlights courtesy of The Wrap...and someone  mentions the "M" word.

‘Marvel's Agents of SHIELD’ Producer Teases ‘Captain America’ Crossover Episode

– Clark Gregg on reprising Coulson for TV: “I found myself suddenly free.”

– Executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen revealed that Ming Na's character was originally named “Agent Rice.” But, that didn't seem quite right after Na got the role.

– Tech wizzes Fitzsimmons was based on Casey Affleck and Scott Caan's characters in “Ocean's Eleven,” but Elizabeth Henstridge came in and stole the role.

– When the topic of upcoming romantic hookups came up, Chloe Bennet says she and Elizabeth Henstridge ship “Skimmons” (a Skye and Simmons hookup).

– Ming Na suggested that that Skye should be the lovechild of her character and Thor and wants the show to have flashbacks to those love scenes.

– Brett Dalton gets cheeky when asked if he's seeing his character becoming closer to the team. “The character has changed. He wasn't a team player at the start. He's learned to play with the team,” he said with a nod to his character's sexual exploits.

– A lucky fan got a big hug from Gregg and moderator Felicia Day joked, “You're pregnant now.”

– One fan busted Bennet on her previous career as a Chinese pop star. True story, she confirmed.

– When asked if mutants will ever join the show, Loeb answered, “There's no proof of mutants in the Marvel Universe yet.”

The series will return on Tuesday, April 1 for its next new episodes, and then six more uninterrupted new episodes straight through to the season finale.

I know I said I wouldn't be in the comments but I'm one of the first comments, so....lol

Anyway, no proof that Mutants exist yet in the Marvel Universe?! What could he mean by that??
LMB10 - 3/23/2014, 3:45 PM
Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will probably be the first official 'mutants' in the MCU, even if they're called something different
MrCBM56 - 3/23/2014, 3:47 PM
Agent Rice? HAHAHA
TheCaptain - 3/23/2014, 3:50 PM
I think they should still reference mutants in the MCU. Just don't mention the X-Men and other X-Men related characters and it should work. I think this makes sense.
GizmoEl - 3/23/2014, 4:04 PM
"Ming Na suggested that that Skye should be the lovechild of her character and Thor and wants the show to have flashbacks to those love scenes."

I laughed really hard when reading this
DrDoom - 3/23/2014, 4:06 PM
Agent Rice

CherryBomb - 3/23/2014, 4:06 PM

Haha I LOVE Ming Na <3
And are marvel mutants apparently called "miracles" now? Hate that title.
CherryBomb - 3/23/2014, 4:10 PM
How have I only just found out about her singing career!?
She should've kept her last name as Wang.

RorMachine - 3/23/2014, 4:14 PM
That entire video was worth watching..but I'd recommend muting it.

Cherry, they won't actually be called Miracles I'm sure.
StarkAnthony - 3/23/2014, 4:15 PM
They didn't really say anything about it, but that Scorch guy was pretty much a mutant
TheCaptain - 3/23/2014, 4:17 PM
@StarkAnthony
Yup pretty much.
They need to just call them "Mutants" dammit. Its not like they are mentioning the X-Men if they say mutant.
Arrowhead77 - 3/23/2014, 4:18 PM
I am all for some Skimmons action! Ratings would explode!
sikwon - 3/23/2014, 4:21 PM
Yet. Yet. Yet. Awesome.
batz11 - 3/23/2014, 4:25 PM
Mutants, Miracles who cares?...they can't use Mutants...so how 'bout Mutanz?
shizzl-my-nizzl...beochez...
DrDoom - 3/23/2014, 4:26 PM
I still don't believe this whole 'can't say mutant' bullshit. You can't trademark a standard lexicon word.
TheCaptain - 3/23/2014, 4:29 PM
Like lets say they use characters like, Whirlwind, or Solarr. These characters are mutants, but aren't X-Men characters.
Mazoku - 3/23/2014, 4:31 PM
Am I the only one who thinks Skype is agent May's daughter? Like I would very much be surprised if she wasnt
TheCaptain - 3/23/2014, 4:32 PM
@DrDoom
Exactly. I've been digging forever, and never read ANYWHERE that Marvel can't use the word "mutant", only that they can't use X-Men characters (obviously). Plus like you said the word mutant isn't a Marvel creation, its a freakin scientific term, so Marvel should be able to use it as much as they want.
Spock0Clock - 3/23/2014, 4:34 PM
I, too, ship Skimmons... Good to know...

Good... to... know...
batz11 - 3/23/2014, 4:34 PM
Skye maybe, not sure about Skype @Mazoku LOL ;)
TheCaptain - 3/23/2014, 4:37 PM
Oh and a HELL YES TO SKIMMONS Lmao
DrDoom - 3/23/2014, 4:41 PM
Skimmons . . . .

CherryBomb - 3/23/2014, 4:47 PM
@Ror

I hope not! We know they're not gonna define them as Inhumans, so I wonder what they'll address hen as.
dio - 3/23/2014, 4:51 PM
Maybe they end up calling them "Mutints". lol
npamusic - 3/23/2014, 4:51 PM
They can't call them mutants because of Fox you doo-doos.
CherryBomb - 3/23/2014, 4:51 PM
I want Whedon to do a Buffy and make a musical AoS episode, I want to see a Chloe Wang comeback.
Viltrumite - 3/23/2014, 4:55 PM
I've never understood the idea that Marvel Studios couldn't use the term mutant. It's just a word, it's not even the brand name or a term exclusive to the brand. I've never seen a lawsuit thrown down over Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, for instance.

I fully expect Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch to be mutants in the MCU. There's a good chance they'll use the term "mutant" itself, although it's also possible that when describing the source of their abilities, they'll simply refer to them as "genetic mutations." I also think it's likely that their mutations will be the result of a failed Super-Soldier attempt (possibly genetic tampering in the womb), similar to the origin of mutants in the Ultimate Marvel universe. That way, they can tie everything back to Captain America: The First Avenger.
TheGambitFreakIsBatmanOfCBM - 3/23/2014, 4:59 PM
Couldn't they do it in Agents of SHIELD? Like... Say, "Word is Von Strucker has two mutants held hostage, Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch," and get away with it sense it is on tv?
UltimateHunt - 3/23/2014, 5:05 PM
QuickSilver & Scarlett Witch are adopted Inhumans :D
batz11 - 3/23/2014, 5:13 PM
Yeah, I thought the same @TheGambit...thought they have all rights for tv, but who knows...that would be one way around it, ha, ha...
CherryBomb - 3/23/2014, 5:20 PM
@UltimateHunt

Whedon has said that he's not calling me Inhumans.
Pedrito - 3/23/2014, 5:20 PM
Skimmons?
Now, THAT I can get behind.
TheRealRemyLebeau - 3/23/2014, 5:21 PM
Finally some smart users on this site when it pertains to the word Mutant!! Thank the high heavens some folks are still doing their research instead of being lazy and passing on blog site speculations. I've been adamant from the start that no one has shown proof that Marvel can't use the term mutant. Feige stated that he won't be calling the maximoff twins anything that not pertaining to who they are. Scorch was a clue on how far the mcu can push characters. They suggested in AOS that they have special people on a index, and now this from loeb " – When asked if mutants will ever join the show, Loeb answered, “There's no proof of mutants in the Marvel Universe yet.” This would suggest to me that after avengers 2 it will be validated that mutants exist. Also just got done watching IM3 and Aldrich Killian in Peppers office at the beginning even suggested the human mind has a untapped hole where alterations in DNA can fill. These are all clues folks. I say Mutants exist and the term isn't off limits. Plus if it was true that fox have a choke hold on mutants then why is Namor who is Marvel's first mutant (not age wise) not with them? Fox doesn't own the term and I will say that till kingdom come. Show evidence or be quiet about fox owning everything mutant. Thanks ;)
dcpaper - 3/23/2014, 5:23 PM
Hold up even if they can say mutant I don't think that marvel would hesitate to use it in fear of a lawsuit or anything. I do however think that marvel doesn't want to start something they can't do anything about.
Pheezmatic - 3/23/2014, 5:23 PM
Boo No Nee No Ching-CHOW!

WHAAAAAAAAT!

SHIELD producers and Whedon comment about usage of the term "mutant"

http://www.blastr.com/2013-9-25/shield-showrunners-reveal-one-big-marvel-word-they-cant-say
TheRealRemyLebeau - 3/23/2014, 5:26 PM
@dcpaper what do you mean?
thalidomide - 3/23/2014, 5:26 PM
Agent Rice?

batz11 - 3/23/2014, 5:28 PM
Well Namor is with Universal for some reason, ugh...
CherryBomb - 3/23/2014, 5:29 PM
Yeah, apparently Marvel can't use the word "mutant" it's a little petty, but it's just that using the word in the same context as X Men does sorta directly link the two together and for two separated studios and separate franchises it's not a good idea, especially because of the relationship between the two.

Whedon seems to agree that he wants to entirely differentiate and continue to set up Disney/Marvel Universe as it's own entity and has no desire to even make reference to other studios properties which is fair enough.
