Apparently Fox Has No Plans For An X-MEN/FANTASTIC FOUR Crossover After All

Despite rumors to the contrary, and even though they do share the same cinematic universe, it seems 20th Century Fox do not have any plans to produce a movie featuring characters from their X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises.

When it was announced that 20th Century Fox planned to establish their own cinematic universe with their stable of Marvel characters, it was generally assumed that this would mean that we'd see a crossover flick at some point. Then, when the studio announced some CBMs they had in the pipeline (another Wolverine movie and a Fantastic Four sequel etc), the "mystery project" only added to the speculation. Well, although it might happen someday of course, The Schmoes report that Fox have no current plans for any type of "X-Men VS. Fantastic Four" type movie.

"According to a well placed source of ours close to the production of FF, Fox has NO PLANS to cross the universes together. That’s right, we can finally put the rumors to rest. It ain’t happening. At least… not yet. According to our source, Fox REALLY wants FANTASTIC FOUR to stand on its own without having to bring in some X-Men to help the movie along. Our source confirms there’s not even a whisper of this happening because, as mentioned, Fox wants FF to do well enough to warrant another sequel and then another and so on and so forth."

Hmmm. Isn't it a bit pointless to have a shared cinematic universe if you're not planning crossovers? Obviously it's something we could see further down the line, but if this report is accurate and they haven't even seriously discussed it yet? What do you guys think?
