Sir Patrick Stewart Teases 'Xavier's Return In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE And Beyond

Although we know Apocalypse will focus primarily on the younger incarnation of Professor Xavier (James McCavoy) and co., Patrick Stewart isn't ruling out another reprisal. He also teases another appearance in a future X-flick..could it be the mystery movie coming in 2018? Possible SPOILERS.

One of the things X-Men: Days Of Future Past seems to be setting out to achieve is a passing of the torch from the original team to their younger counterparts; basically making way for the X-Men: First Class cast to continue the franchise. But does that mean we've seen the last of the likes of Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart? It certainly doesn't sound that way! When asked by MTV if he could return to the wheelchair for X-Men: Apocalypse, Stewart sounds positive. "I don't see why not. That is one of the blessings about fantasy and science fiction. You're never really dead. I would love to come back and do some more."   Is he insinuating that his character will be killed off in DOFP? We know that Fox have more X-movies planned out, right up to an as-yet untitled project set for release on July 18, 2018. Stewart also teases another future appearance for his Charles Xavier..is he referring to that? "There might be something else. A little bird has whispered that there might be something X-Men related." You can see the video at the link below.

MrCBM56 - 4/19/2014, 8:46 AM
Ok. Cool. Just don't do it fir fan service though. I really hope Nightcrawker comes back. A huge highlight of the original trilogy.
MrBatmor - 4/19/2014, 8:46 AM
One of the best castings ever...!!
ALegendaryPanda - 4/19/2014, 8:48 AM
I really hope apocalypse doesn't get delayed because of that whole "situation".
Starfox - 4/19/2014, 8:48 AM
@MrSlothBatmor

Singer said that:

"he transferred his consciousness and could possibly construct a body around that consciousness." So I guess that's how lol
MrBatmor - 4/19/2014, 8:51 AM
@starfox wait what!! So it wasnt explained in the movie!! Wtf!! Wont people be like...hey he was dead how'd he come back!?
WAYNE - 4/19/2014, 8:54 AM
@Starfox no thats completely incorrect. it was revealed that the body in the hospital bed from X3 was charles' twin who was born brain dead and once charles' body was dissentegrated by Pheonix he transferred his conciousness to it.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 4/19/2014, 8:55 AM
Hope he does. [frick] the reboot wanters
WAYNE - 4/19/2014, 8:55 AM
...dont know the explanation of why that body would be crippled too lol...another fox men plothole smh
Starfox - 4/19/2014, 8:56 AM
@MrSlothBatmor

lol I was thinking the same thing. That will definitely throw a lot of people for a loop, but I guess they didn't know that they would be doing DOFP for certain so they found a way to work around his Death in X3.

I'm all for it but yeah I agree that some will be like wtf! Glad he's back though.
Starfox - 4/19/2014, 8:57 AM
@WAYNE

Both are Correct.
WAYNE - 4/19/2014, 8:58 AM
I just get the feeling and am really hoping that the end of this movie rectifies the continuity annd changes thing to be more source material accurate
MrBatmor - 4/19/2014, 8:58 AM
Well singer most likely wont come back...

@wayne I dont thing prof x has that power...(to somehow die and after that put his Mind into some other body)...and he doesnt have a brother...
SuperCat - 4/19/2014, 8:58 AM
Favorite scene from the first film.

SuperDude001 - 4/19/2014, 9:03 AM
Wouldn't mind seeing him again in a cameo, but ngl I'd prefer they stop messing with time. Just have DofP fix the timelines (or the characters) into new verse and have Apocalypse in the 80s with Wolverine, young Charles, young Erik, Mystique, Beast, young Cyclops and/or Havok, young Nightcrawler, young Storm, Toad, a Sabertooth (maybe not 'Origins' one, just one from first film), and maybe young Jean (with a possibly a formation of the proper Brotherhood as seen in the first film). The films need to stop adding characters just for the fans and focus on what they have. Maybe at the most have Stewart Xavier as a narrator.

MrSlothBatmor, WAYNE, Starfox @ Yeah remember in the beginning of X3 he's talking to the students about a comatose patient and how it could be possible to transfer consiciousness? And then after the credits we hear him waking up in the same bed as the patient with Moira. So yeah it's assumed that is indeed Xavier having transferred his consciousness, and presumably into a twin.
dethpillow - 4/19/2014, 9:05 AM
interesting stuff, i really have no idea how they have these timelines set up after DOFP.

always been one of the most interesting things about this movie to me,
is just the time travel mechanics.
TheAbomination - 4/19/2014, 9:08 AM
He'll come back. But eventually, he's gonna call it quits.
Tainted87 - 4/19/2014, 9:08 AM

I can't take anything Stewart says too seriously. Not after this. I think senility is sinking in. Well, more like diving in.
dethpillow - 4/19/2014, 9:11 AM
@SuperDude - that's how i think of it too. just go forward from the 80s, i guess cuz it's been mentioned. But I hope they give the old cast a good sendoff in this one and just close the book on it.

but that's why i'm confused, because he'll mention things like this, and there's other things that have popped up and then also Jackman talking about a 3rd Wolverine film with him in it. I could imagine him doing maybe one more on his own, maybe old cast could be in that. of course depending on story and stuff.

but then after that, they just gotta go with one timeline and make movies coming out of that. I even wish that Apocalypse wasn't next, but that it went to like a REAL first class set maybe 4 years after DOFP. 1977, 1978 or something. Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, Beast and Angel. and keep Beast, Prof X and Fassbender cast in their roles.

do Apocalypse after that, that's what I'd rather see, just imagining it all from a zero point. if they did a real original five movie, maybe Vaughn could even do it... dude people would be so psyched about that.
arsonjack - 4/19/2014, 9:13 AM
He will come back as long as the scenes are not too tiring
TheGDBatman1 - 4/19/2014, 9:14 AM
Did anyone else think onslaught XD
TheAbaryMan369 - 4/19/2014, 9:19 AM
He's one of, if not the, greatest members of the future X-Men.
Hellsing - 4/19/2014, 9:25 AM
So with Singers current situation would it be possible to bring Vaughn back to direct apocalypse not saying Days of Future Past is going to be shit because of Singer but Vaughn injected a little fun in to the franchise with out undermining the drama. That scene in Argentina with Magneto and the two Nazi's dayuum son!
Datahloks - 4/19/2014, 9:26 AM
Doesnt apocalipse deal with time travel too?
They might need him as the old prof. X
dethpillow - 4/19/2014, 9:26 AM
i'm not even all "rah rah source accuracy!!".

that's just a classic lineup and it works really great, and it would be a blast of a movie if someone fresh did it.

just want one goddam movie with those five X-Men. just do it, Fox. jeesus christ. people would actually be frothing at the mouth over that. and give them their costumes and call them the X-Men. it would be so rad.

and then Cyclops would be the leader by the time Wolverine came. he wouldn't be all lovesick and roaming around the halls just making sure that Wolverine doesn't sleep with his girl. he would exist to us as Cyclops, and be shown to be a leader and command this little team.

just one goddam movie. just one. i'd rather see two, pure first five X-Men films... one Brotherhood and then pick something else for the other one. but even just one.

then they could go into getting new X-Men and at that point, I don't care what order or how they do it, I wouldn't be all like.. nope, Wolverine, Storm, Japanese guy, Native American guy.. that has to be the next one, and then the one after that has to be...

no. they could do pretty much what they wanted to after that.
that's a big part of the problem tho, is that there's never been this feeling like that team ever even existed, and it's kind of important cuz it shows Beast, Jean, Cyclops and the rest as being original and been thru more as X-Men and being tight and closer to Charles becuz of all this. Fox X-Men films just jumped right into this whole academy and just random people running around that are whatever X-Men they decided to have. if you do that, it doesn't mean much.

they need to take their time with things this time, and establish things proper. I guess the Original five is kinda my own thing I'm obsessed with, me and a bunch of people I'm sure tho, but even they could mess with that, start with a different team, fine. but what they absolutely have to do is take their time, build characters up over time, and quit having everything be so random and rushed around hectic and janky feeling. and screw the whole deal with all the dumb whole school thing with teachers and all these kids running around.

maybe it made sense to jump into that, but now, I don't see why anyone would want to rush right into that situation, when there's a whole other situation without all the kids and school stuff going on that can be done for 5 or 6 movies first. they just need to slow down and stop jamming everything around.
SuperDude001 - 4/19/2014, 9:28 AM
dethpillow @ Tbh my dream would be they literally take some of the future characters (e.g. Iceman, return Cyclops, Colossus) and somehow through them back into the 80s so the teams can just be combined and there be no need for timeline nonsense and plotholes, but tbh I don't see how that can happen as Wovlerine is the only one that can travel that far :/
dethpillow - 4/19/2014, 9:30 AM
@Hellsing - I remember an interview with Singer just a few months ago where he said he wasn't even sure if he was directing Apocalypse or not.
maninfinesuit - 4/19/2014, 9:31 AM
Patrick, you've done fine work, but just pass the torch already.

dethpillow - 4/19/2014, 9:34 AM
@SuperDude - yeah, the thing with that is the time travel over long distance is only an exchange of consciousness, like not actually sending the body back. so the reason Wolverine is a good candidate is cuz he doesn't age like a normal person. most other people in the future timeline wouldn't work cuz they'd be unborn or just babies or something.

I wonder why Prof X or Magneto weren't ones that they would choose instead of Wolverine tho, but i'm sure that's explained.

They could always do what you're saying tho, because they could make something new up about how time travel works or what happened to those characters to physically transport them instead. So what you're saying could happen still, u know?
Azazel1 - 4/19/2014, 9:37 AM
BISHOP will be in it that IS for certain!!!!

Have been waiting to see Bishop for a long time onscreen...
AgentRuppert - 4/19/2014, 10:01 AM
If it wasn't for X-Men, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart wouldn't be best of buds. I think they play the characters very well. I also like the old cast.

As for the next X-flik, I hope to see Jubilee.

And Doop... at some point.
alamborn19 - 4/19/2014, 10:05 AM
X- Force or X4
SuperDude001 - 4/19/2014, 10:06 AM
dethpillow @ well yeah Idk how the time travel EXACTLY works but from the trailer is seems to cause Wolverine great pain so I'm guessing it was both cause he would be young then and he could survive the process of going that far back. You're right, could happen though, maybe Blink and Kitty merge their powers or something. Either way they definitely need either Cyclops or Nightcrawler in my opinion. Not the biggest fans of them, but feel the def deserve a better chance on film. Although with Singer's case at the moment, who knows what the future of Xmen will have.
corey81 - 4/19/2014, 10:15 AM
the reason he in DOFP is b/c the after the credits of the 3rd movie. Where he put his mind in his brain dead tween
