A big screen reboot of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers has been announced. The property originally launched in 1993 as a tv series, but has since spawned one (terrible) big screen outing, as well as numerous comics, toys, apparel, costumes, video games, DVD’s, and plenty of other merchandise. Now Lionsgate are teaming with Haim Saban to re-envision the Power Rangers as "a group of high school kids who are infused with unique and cool super powers but must harness and use those powers as a team if they have any hope of saving the world." Wasn't that the original concept anyway? I'm a bit rusty! Lionsgate ad: “The Power Rangers stories and characters have been embraced by generations of audiences for more than 20 years, and today they are more powerful than ever.  We have the ideal partner and the perfect brand with which to create a motion picture event that will resonate with moviegoers around the world for years to come.” Read the press release in full at the link below.

I just don't know how to feel about this. I loved Power Rangers as a kid but I don't know if it can work in this day in age.
grif - 5/7/2014, 5:44 AM

It 'a morphing time! You know, this could work. Combine Avengers and Transformers and you're done.
Batmantis - 5/7/2014, 5:46 AM

Goldar better be in it.
SuperCat - 5/7/2014, 5:46 AM
Power Rangers suck.

MrMartinMarvel - 5/7/2014, 5:47 AM
I'll only be interested if it's dark and gritty.
Doopie - 5/7/2014, 5:48 AM
If they get away from the cheese-fest these things normally are and approached in a more adult, thought-out way, they could do something great with this property. I would like to see the Zords go though.
MrMartinMarvel - 5/7/2014, 5:49 AM
Because as we all know, dark and gritty makes everything better.

YESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is going to ROCK!!!!!!

I used to love Power Rangers as kid, but I don't know if I would go watch a live action film in this day and age.
RichardBoldly - 5/7/2014, 5:52 AM
^^^^Some people here are sooooo unconfident about their own maturity.....

I'm excited about this news tho.
MexicanChinman - 5/7/2014, 5:53 AM
@MrMartinMarvel, shut up you annoying prick.
LP4 - 5/7/2014, 5:53 AM
[frick] yes son!!!!
TheRationalNerd - 5/7/2014, 5:53 AM
Can you imagine the suit treatment with a decent budget? The zords should look 10x more epic! I wish Bay were attached but I'm actually looking forward to this. lol xD
heisei24 - 5/7/2014, 5:55 AM
This can't be real, right?
Spidey91 - 5/7/2014, 5:56 AM
YES!!!
I lost interest in the Power Rangers as I grew up, but I freakin' loved it as a kid. This could make me care again for the franchise.
DraculaX - 5/7/2014, 5:56 AM
I'm done with that!!

A dark Power Rangers could work. Time Force and In Space were good examples.
MrMartinMarvel - 5/7/2014, 5:56 AM
@MexicanSuperman Um, I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to annoy anybody, I was joking around.
RichardBoldly - 5/7/2014, 5:56 AM
Because as we all know, light and bright makes everything "better".

GTFO with that, please. Not every [frick]ing movie needs to "make you feel like a [frick]ing child again", like your so-so Disney movies.
DraculaX - 5/7/2014, 5:58 AM
Someone call Michael Bay or Zack Sny....Oh wait, he's busy with Justice League.
cdpacheco89 - 5/7/2014, 5:58 AM
I wanted to so this but make them oler like almost 30 and a hell of a lot serious. Hope its not PG
McNyagano - 5/7/2014, 5:59 AM
My favourite was Turbo. Give this a budget of the Transformers films and it could EPIC!
TheRationalNerd - 5/7/2014, 6:00 AM
Mighty Morphin
Lost Galaxy
Power Rangers in Space
Time Force
Light Speed Rescue
Wild Force (All Red Rangers Episode)

Prime - 5/7/2014, 6:01 AM
Man, high school? Why don't we college kids get some love as well?
nibs - 5/7/2014, 6:04 AM
I remember seeing the first one in the theater in like grade 6 and thinking it was awesome. I will torrent this and laugh at it's ridiculousness. I might even need to re-visit the original...

@richardbold
unconfident about their maturity? what would make you say something so dick-headed like that?
SaxoWolf - 5/7/2014, 6:07 AM
giannis - 5/7/2014, 6:08 AM
Excited about this news.
Pasto - 5/7/2014, 6:08 AM
Is this the real life....is this just fantasy...
KallarkKent - 5/7/2014, 6:09 AM
That's great, growing up I loved different incarnations of Super Sentai teams. Im really hoping this remains for kids, I don't need to see the grounded dark version of Power Rangers.
TheRationalNerd - 5/7/2014, 6:12 AM
Any Power Rangers fan would immediately know who these guys were...

Suits are needed some re-design. By some I mean A LOT!
HAILHYDRA - 5/7/2014, 6:13 AM
My guess is they'll treat this like TMNT.
dean456 - 5/7/2014, 6:13 AM

McGee - 5/7/2014, 6:14 AM
Looking back on the 90s....

It just occurred to me that Alanis Morissette was only 17 when she went down on Dave Coulier in a movie theater. YOU'RE A SICK F*CK UNCLE JOEY!!! >:(
