"We want to tell the Apocalypse story and there's massive scale and scope to telling that story. There's going to be set pieces that I suspect are going to be bigger than anything we've ever done in an X-Men movie before and he's a great character. The biggest and funnest challenge of the Apocalypse movie to me is his character. How do you create a new villain for the X-Men world that is as good as any villain that's come before, is compelling philosophically as Magneto, not just in his physical powers, but in his philosophical depth. 'Apocalypse' is going to be a fun movie to write and make."

X-Men: Apocalypse is currently set for release on May 27, 2016.

"How do you create a new villain for the X-Men world...."

Translation:

"We don't have the rights to portray the big bad villain you want to see"

I hope Apocalypse is not 100% CGI
thewonderer - 5/8/2014, 3:05 PM
I will say this, and feel free to disagree with me.

McKellen's Magneto as well as Fassbender's Magneto are stronger than any other Marvel comic book movie villain on screen.

2nd is probably Doc Ock from Spider-Man 2. Kevin Bacon's Shaw is also up there.

Looking forward to Apocalypse

BatManiac - 5/8/2014, 3:05 PM
I hope Apocalypse looks like Apocalypse.
Bryanavengers - 5/8/2014, 3:08 PM
so that poster was not fake/fan made cool . i guess we might get more styles of sentinels
Jollem - 5/8/2014, 3:08 PM
@wonderer - i disagree!! rawr. [hate-filled comments and insults and other childish bitchery]

"the challenges faced in coming up with a new and compelling villain for our mutant heroes to face"

Yes, in an X Men movie called 'X Men Apocalypse' I can see how they could have a hard time coming up with an interesting villain, because it's not like there's a character in X Men comics called 'Apocalypse' who's even a little bit interesting

Keep Kinberg away from this
JoJo1982 - 5/8/2014, 3:11 PM
It's real easy to mess up Apocalypse looks
Best thing is to make him look exactly from the comics
RorMachine - 5/8/2014, 3:11 PM
He means Apocalypse...the challenges in coming up with a screen representation of him.
BatManiac - 5/8/2014, 3:12 PM
"McKellen's Magneto as well as Fassbender's Magneto are stronger than any other Marvel comic book movie villain on screen."

I agree 100%!

MrMartinMarvel - 5/8/2014, 3:13 PM
What Batmaniac said.

^^^^^^^^^^^

Agree!!!!

McKellen's Magneto as well as Fassbender's Magneto are stronger than any other Marvel comic book movie villain on screen.

i agree 110 percent, Mckellen is fantastic as Magneto but i find Fassbender's Magneto to be a bit more compelling,same with Stewart and McAvoy's Xavier,i find Mcavoy's Xavier to be abit more compelling, thats my favorite dynamic of these movies mostly because i find the journey of them becoming the men they will be fascinating
Brainiac13 - 5/8/2014, 3:14 PM
I love Fassbender's Magneto.......I think he's a lot better than McKellen.
MrBlackjack - 5/8/2014, 3:14 PM
Ascetics aren't the #1 cause for concern for me when it comes to Apocalypse.
0megaDaGod - 5/8/2014, 3:15 PM
@Ror

Thanks
Brainiac13 - 5/8/2014, 3:15 PM
2nd is probably Doc Ock from Spider-Man 2. Kevin Bacon's Shaw is also up there....and LOKI
MrBlackjack - 5/8/2014, 3:16 PM
And I concur; Magneto (whether it's McKellen or Fassbender), blows any other Marvel villain that's been put on film out of the water.
ezio619 - 5/8/2014, 3:17 PM
i love this scene from first class

BatManiac - 5/8/2014, 3:17 PM
Say what you will about X-Men: Last Stand, this scene was badass!

Brainiac13 - 5/8/2014, 3:17 PM
We'll probably see in the End credits...............Apocalypse.
SidTheAstroSlut - 5/8/2014, 3:18 PM
So Apocalypse is supposed to invole the First Class cast and thats all right? Well and Wolverine probably.
McNyagano - 5/8/2014, 3:18 PM
Lmao @Omega. xD

@Thewonderer

I agree with you but why do you need to mention the other Marvel films when praising the X-Men? Funny enough, the X-Men movie all end with Magneto as the villain. I know there's Stryker and Shaw BUT Magneto has always been the main villain in these films and he's always had the same motivation. I wanna see other X-men villains and I'm glad Apocalypse is coming into play.
Brainiac13 - 5/8/2014, 3:18 PM
@ezio619
@BatManiac

Yeah.....cool scenes.
MrBlackjack - 5/8/2014, 3:19 PM
And yes, Doc Ock is right beneath them, although while it's a great performance by the very underrated Alfred Molina, the Magnetos blow him out of the water.
0megaDaGod - 5/8/2014, 3:19 PM
I would love it if we somehow got Young Cyke, Jean, Storm, Nightcrawler and maybe an older Gambit. Pretty much everyone else is off the table due to likely age at this time
LEEE777 - 5/8/2014, 3:21 PM
FOX - Just make half decent ones and do not connect Fantastic Four to the franchise!

:)
Indy - 5/8/2014, 3:21 PM
Apocalyse is coming sound good to me I am excited.
McNyagano - 5/8/2014, 3:21 PM
@Batmaniac

That scene really showed how powerful Magneto is. Can't wait to see him face off the sentinels on Monday. [frick] Yeah!!!!!

MrMartinMarvel - 5/8/2014, 3:21 PM
I have to disagree about Magneto being the best Marvel villain on the big screen. While Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender did great in the role, for whatever reason he just never did it for me.
SidTheAstroSlut - 5/8/2014, 3:22 PM
As much as i love Spider-Man 2 i wouldnt call Doc Ock a good Marvel movie villain. Comic Book wise he is one of the best.
Indy - 5/8/2014, 3:24 PM
MexicanChinman - 5/8/2014, 3:24 PM
@COREYxYEROC, me too with everything you said. I would like to see 4 movies based on Dragon Ball first and then 4 movies based on Dragon Ball Z.
ezio619 - 5/8/2014, 3:24 PM
MCNYAGANO-you are watching it Monday...ughhhh....i need chameleons belt from the 90s spidey series and sneak into screenings as Mcnyagano
CaptainAmerica31 - 5/8/2014, 3:25 PM
@wonderbread doc Ock and Loki are the best. Magneto is not memorable
Kurne - 5/8/2014, 3:25 PM
Gambit!
batz11 - 5/8/2014, 3:26 PM
ezio, yeah, love that scene, the music is awesome in it too!...
0megaDaGod - 5/8/2014, 3:27 PM
I always found it weird how much I loved McKellen's Mags despite him being potentially the most nerfed comic translation of all time
BatManiac - 5/8/2014, 3:27 PM
Top 5 Marvel Movie villains:
1) Michael Fassbender/Ian McKellen's Magneto
2) Dane DeHaan's Green Goblin
3) Hiddle's Loki
4) William Dafoe's Green Goblin
5) Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier
