No hating on the poll allowed. If you don't like it don't vote on it. :P Besides I think this poll is actually one we have really needed. ;)

I think it's Atlanteans or Annihulus. New Men would be cool too.

I have a problem with the wording, we really don't decide who they are. Marvel isn't gonna see it and say "CBMers say it's the Skrulls so I guess it's the Skrulls!" Just a little peeve.

I'm hoping, hoping, hoping for one of the other Norse realms, though I'm doubting it at this point.

Honestly, if they go with the Skrulls or what-have-you, I think it weakens the story. Comic book audiences could accept aliens fairly readily, but for the mainstream actual honest-to-God Space Aliens (under the command of a Norse God, for some reason) would probably just be completely out of left field. Marvel hasn't introduced the possibility of space aliens in any of the build-up movies yet, so I'm hoping it's something that works with the narrative elements they already have in place.

Damn, I want this movie to succeed...

I agree with AlexRival you should rename the title something like... "POLL: Who Do YOU Think Are Loki's Army In THE AVENGERS!"

I think it will be tied into Thor's realms somehow, it just makes more sense. I have to be honest I'm not really read up on them so I can't rightfully vote :/

The poster who made the argument for The Sons of Muspel was right on! I'm shocked that this isn't the leading candidate, much less not even a choice for the poll!

I can't pick one. They said in an interview early in production that Loki's new costume indicates him scouring the cosmos. His army may be a mix of any of these species. At least that's what I think.

Oh, and champy-best if luck in your future trolling endeavors, because I'm fairly certain once ol' Galactus catches wind of this you'll lose those "badges of honor".

The Frost giants arnt in lokis army if you have seen the trailer then you know that the soldiers jumping off the thingymajig up in the skyline have different physical characteristics such as the number of toes FG's=5 toes, Lokis soldiers jumping off the thingymajig up in the skyline = 3 toes. FG hyptheis debunked walla :)

Also im sort of hoping its not the Alpha Centaurians cause they have the same problem and excuse for invading the earth as those fellas from Battlefield Earth. Remember theres water almost everywhere in the known universe but mostly in form of ice on comets which are found [frick]in almost everywhere in deep space its like you can have the ort cloud just stay the [frick] away from us alright.

This is a statement by Feige from http://m.au.ign.com/articles/1200649
"[Loki] does say to Tony Stark at the end of the footage we showed today, he tells Tony that he has an army," reiterated Feige somewhat cryptically. "And that army is not just stuntmen in mocap suits. It'll be extremely, extremely large and something that links not only into the movies we've made but the movies we're going to make. So it's a big play that we're not quite ready to talk about."

then in a more recent article:

"Who said they were aliens?" he teases. Beings from the Nine Realms, then, ventures Empire? "Closer...It's not Skrulls, I've been clear about that. Beyond that, we want to hide it. The identity of the alien race is not impactful. It exists in the comic books, but we're not setting up the Kree-Skrull war or anything like that."

I dont think the the aliens will be impactful in such a way as to steal the show from the avengers in this Avengers movie but to the entire MCU it will be a significant easter egg one that will echo through phase 2.

what ever they are they will awesome XD....come thanos/nebulas army

I'm not up on Thor/Loki history, but I believe it has to be something that the general audience won't have too much trouble taking in. We're already meshing 6 somewhat familiar heroes + Hawkeye. And Loki.

For exposition's sake, I'm guessing we get to see what happened to Loki and where he ended up at the end of Thor. (Maybe the same fate as Red Skull) Most likely a purgatory of sorts. Being the cunning bastard he is, Loki recruits/strikes a deal with someone who has control of this Army, and they both agree to work together for their own separate reasons. They get to Earth and all hell breaks loose.

In the end, I think Loki will be in over his head and will be betrayed by his "partner(s)". He will eventually help the Avengers fight off the Army and the big reveal at the conclusion will be that a greater power was behind the whole coup from the start.

I think that it is a new villain created for the film because you've gotta remember that Cap was not one of the original Avengers and Wasp and Ant Man aren't in it.
HulkbusterNYC
HulkbusterNYC - 2/11/2012, 11:25 PM
@KHorn it's definitely not a new villain they made up for this movie.. With all of the villains Marvel has why would they just make something up for their biggest movie ever.. Makes no sense.. I BELIEVE - Whoever this army is and this mystery villain will not be crucial to THIS film but it's setting up the cosmic universe and they will play more of a role in future films down the line.. ie GOTG, Inhumans, Capt Marvel (Hopefully).. It's going to be very cool to see how their plan to expand the MCU pans out.. I feel like a kid again.. I hope Avengers does really well so Marvel continues their blueprint on what they've been building.. May 4th Mutha [frick]cers!
