Green Lantern Spoilers From Rob Liefield!

In an exclusive interview with Nukethefridge.com, Liefield(creator of Deadpool) revealed some very interesting things about Martin Campbell's upcoming Green Lantern adaptation...
What does Rob Liefield, the man behind Deadpool, Cable, and some of the most lambasted artwork in comic history have to do with the big screen Green Lantern movie? Well, apparently he is very close to the production because he is good friends with the FX supervisors.

When Nukethefridge caught up with him over the weekend at the Frank And Son Collectible Show, Liefield revealed that...

"He has seen most of the storyboards for the Green Lantern film and he claims that it looks fantastic. He said that if they could translate what is on the storyboards to film, the movie would be amazing. Over one-third of the movie is set on OA, the home world of the Green Lanterns. The film will have numerous Green Lanterns, including fan favorite Kilowag and Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) mentor turned archenemy, Sinestro."

If this turns out to be accurate, how cool is it that the movie will be set predominantly in space?! I was worried that they may try to ground the very sci-fi orientated GL comics mostly on Earth. It also means that we will indeed be seeing everyone's favorite Poozer, Kilowog:)

CLARKE DUNCAN FOR KILOWOG...HUGO WEAVING FOR SINESTRO
GUNSMITH - 9/24/2009, 8:17 PM
Gotta luv KILOWOG!! ; D

Damn fine news, but i really have no idea why ROB knows anything about GL, he's not involved in the project??

Still more SPACE the better, though i hope the first 3rd of the movie is him getting used to his powers on Earth, and not turn into the cartoon an have him wisked off in space in the 1st 5 minutes lol.
LEEE777 - 9/24/2009, 8:18 PM
GUN @ You know it!!! ; )

And hey we talkin' BLUE!!!!!

Bwahahhahahhahha!!
LEEE777 - 9/24/2009, 8:19 PM
This is bloody excellent!!!!
Angelo - 9/24/2009, 8:19 PM
A third of the movie on Oa? Daring. Very Daring. hopefully they can pull it off
supermarioworldE - 9/24/2009, 8:20 PM
Kilowog would have to be CGI, no?
Angelo - 9/24/2009, 8:21 PM
Kilowag shud be cgi i hope!
Misterfan - 9/24/2009, 8:23 PM
A third of it on Oa?! That's freaking awesome!

Can't wait for Kilowog (Dennis Haysbert) and Sinestro (Jason Isaacs) on the big screen!
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/24/2009, 8:23 PM

AXL @ NO, bit of both like they did with PIRATES 2!!!
LEEE777 - 9/24/2009, 8:24 PM
TYLER @ Lol!!!

HUGO all the way!!

LEEE777 - 9/24/2009, 8:26 PM
Nah, Weaving is Brainiac, and Isaacs is Sinestro man. Both perfect for those parts.

InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/24/2009, 8:28 PM
Hugo 100%. cgi kilowag with Dennis haysberts voice, or possibly Kieth david.
superdog - 9/24/2009, 8:29 PM
BRAINIAC is GAY!! ; D

DOOMSDAY!!!
LEEE777 - 9/24/2009, 8:34 PM
Doomsday sucks as a villain. Sorry, but he does. The only good thing about him is that he's cool looking, and strong. That's it. No depth, no threat beyond a physical one. Brainiac can challenge his enemies mentally, as he is one of, if not the most, intelligent beings in the DC universe. Not only that, he is more than a physical match for Supes.

But back to Green Lantern, I'm incredibly glad that there will be a lot of space involved. Green Lantern should be an epic, galaxy-spanning adventure, and it's looking like that will be the case with the movie!
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/24/2009, 8:38 PM
Sounds perfect!
DarthMulder - 9/24/2009, 8:46 PM
Yeah i agree about Doomsday. I wouldn't say he is lame, but he is definitely only known for killing Supes...thats it! There is a reason he has only ever featured in one or two comic arcs. Brainiac is a classic villain that poses a psychological and physical threat on every level.

Anyway, how cool would it be if Brandon Routh turned up in GL!
RorMachine - 9/24/2009, 8:49 PM
Tyler@ agreed. Plus If they go with the kryptonian braniac you get all the baggage that comes along with that.

Green lantern will be the darkhorse of summer 2011!! Mark my words!!
superdog - 9/24/2009, 8:49 PM
Ror: It would be very cool indeed if Routh made a cameo! I really hope they keep that part in!
InTylerWeTrust82 - 9/24/2009, 8:52 PM
Here's Reynolds as HAL:

access - 9/24/2009, 9:18 PM
I really am looking forward to GL. So far WB/DC really seem to have a good thing going here they seem to understand what needs to be done with GL.

Stephen McHattie for Abin Sur

nerosday - 9/24/2009, 9:46 PM
I hope this news is true as that would mean one whole act may be Hal's training. I figure the second act with the third being the confrontation on Earth. Just a guess. Oh please don't let Liefield be a contributor. I cring at the thought of his DC work "Invasion".
JYCowboy - 9/24/2009, 9:48 PM
Man Great news! sounds almost to good to be true.

LEEE777 Duncan as Kilowog, We're on the same page buddy, as long as he study's the character to capture that Kilowog attitude.

Im with Jason Isaacs as Sinestro, HUGO is Very convincing but I think Isaacs has the Sinestro demeanor.

He wont be in it it would be to soon in the story, but Michael Jai White as John Stewart! Had to say it.
CrashTest - 9/24/2009, 9:50 PM
Doug Jones for Salaak

nerosday - 9/24/2009, 9:50 PM
LEEE777- I Liked how the animated movie took it to space in the beginning, to me it made allot of sense. Abin Sur dies, one of the most decorated lanterns, of course the corps would come looking for his body. Not to mention his ring or the new holder of the ring. On top of that, a human holding a ring was un-heard of, so it had to be questioned.
CrashTest - 9/24/2009, 9:55 PM
@ Rosch - This is fantastic news... I hope it all true...

It looks like they might follow alittle bit of what happened in First Flight... that would be awesome...
thegreek - 9/24/2009, 10:00 PM
Hugo Weaving, for Ganthet

Helana Bonham Carter, for Scar

nerosday - 9/24/2009, 10:02 PM
Anthony Hopkins as a Guardian
CrashTest - 9/24/2009, 10:09 PM

JEFF ANDERSON AS GUY GARDNER!

MovieTheaterLad - 9/24/2009, 10:11 PM
Wish list for Sinestro

Ralph Fiennes

Jason Isaacs

Jeremy Irons

nerosday - 9/24/2009, 10:14 PM
Anthony Hopkins, another great choice for one of the Guardians, CrashTest

nerosday - 9/24/2009, 10:17 PM
About Doomsday in Superman, whenever the hell we get the next one.

I have three issues about when and why not to bring Doomsday into the fold for a while:
1) doomsday is a weak villain as far as character is concerned,
2)They shouldn't START a new Superman franchise with his death, there's no investment in the character yet, no heart strings to pull watching him die.
3) Superman's death was an okay story on its own, but its aftermath is what made the story truly comic legend. What I mean is if he dies in his own film you only see how the death effects his mom and Lois and Jimmy, but if you save his death for say JLA3 you see it telescope across the whole film DCU. I’ve been saying this for a while. This can bring in the Reign of the Superman and destruction of Coast City at the Climax of JLA3. Follow that in the same summer with GL3 or GL4 and you set up the fall of Hal Jordan and destruction of the Green Lantern Corps... Do all those in one summer say 2020 or so and you have one hell of an attraction.

nerosday - 9/24/2009, 10:32 PM
Hans Zimmer/ James Newton Howard/ and John Williams collaborating on a score! That would be nice!!!
Phinehas - 9/24/2009, 10:50 PM
As for CGI characters, I really hope they follow Guillermo del Toro's lead and use practical makeup effects for a lot of the Corps including Kilowog. CGI is good, but you look at it and know its CGI, a really well done suit is more real at times. I know you may say, "Yeah, but it can look corny as hell too, if done wrong." But then again bad CGI can take you out of a movie just as much.
nerosday - 9/24/2009, 10:51 PM
they were saying from the get go that it was gonna be a space epic btw.
deathmetalbrian - 9/24/2009, 10:55 PM
Why ten years? Man you can knock that out in 5-6!
Phinehas - 9/24/2009, 11:05 PM
This is hardly new information, seeing as how the first draft of the script has been leaked online for over a year now.
slimybug - 9/24/2009, 11:07 PM
well figure at best there is a year gap between films, and give them a couple years to get organized and churn out the first, so maybe ten years to JLA3, if they hurry.
nerosday - 9/24/2009, 11:23 PM
Not to mention anyone in JLA will have their own careers to look after and their own superhero franchises, so you have to leave them enough room between flicks to make other films as well.
nerosday - 9/24/2009, 11:25 PM
You know I have always seen Ron Pearlman as Kilowog and Weaving as Sinestro would be awesome.
frenzyrules - 9/24/2009, 11:28 PM
Green Lantern is one of the few DC characters I really enjoy so I am really anticipating this movie. Pooching this movie would be like raping Spider-Man... again!!!
TheMyth - 9/25/2009, 12:04 AM
KILLOWAG SHOULD A COMBINATION CGI AND MAKEUP N PROSTHETICS LIKE HELLBOY, OR THE WOLVES IN UNDERWORLD
10THTIGER - 9/25/2009, 12:13 AM
Do we need Kilowag??? :)
teabag - 9/25/2009, 2:58 AM
Do we need Ryan Renyolds? I dont know kids,

but me thinks that RR IS NOT the best choice for GL.

I cant explain it (yet). But my Spider Sense is tingling.

p.s.

Leifield is a tool.
Skyh00k - 9/25/2009, 4:59 AM
Amen :)
teabag - 9/25/2009, 5:10 AM
Yeah i get bad tingles abour RR as GR too. I just hope Campbell shows him who's boss early on instead of "green lighting" Reynolds to go rampid like Goyer did. Reynolds is 1/1 in my book. He [frick]ed up one comic book franchise and was one of the best parts of another. So that pretty much leaves us all on the fense.
Shaman - 9/25/2009, 5:51 AM
Cool!
MCD for Kilowog!
Jason Isaccs for Sinestro
Tricia Helfer for Boodika!
NightAvenger4 - 9/25/2009, 5:55 AM
Dude IT sounds just like the animated movie. WTF.
GunRyder - 9/25/2009, 6:27 AM
Jason Isaac for sinistro, no one else
Ship - 9/25/2009, 6:54 AM
This is fortunate and magnificent news. GL has the potential of becoming as big as iron man followin the comics by heart.
Gr8Valkyrie - 9/25/2009, 7:02 AM
reynolds will be great. as i said this will be the darkhorse of 2011.
superdog - 9/25/2009, 7:44 AM
I see it more as the Green Newt of 2011 :P
teabag - 9/25/2009, 8:07 AM
got the feeling this will be on par with iron man.. i hope
InFamouslyCool - 9/25/2009, 8:12 AM
Cool.
Bandrews1 - 9/25/2009, 8:21 AM
As long as he doesnt make jokes the whole time it should be fine.
fadawn - 9/25/2009, 8:33 AM
i like Ryan but i get the feeling of doubt as well. i think if he really takes it seriously he can do great. mcd for kilowag! that is the best idea for that role i have evr heard.nice! personally i'd like to see Zachery quinto for sinestro.
comicboyV1 - 9/25/2009, 10:10 AM
Thank god its gonna be on OA cause the earth sucks...

MrDCGuy23 - 9/25/2009, 12:41 PM
Why would he not take it seriously? Plus, these movies have directors. If Reynolds goes off the reservation it's the directors job to reel him in. If he doesn't then that is the direction they want the movie to go and that is not reynolds fault but the producer and directors.
superdog - 9/25/2009, 2:13 PM
HUGO WEAVING FOR SINESTRO??????????

DON'T TRUST HIM, HE'S AN AGENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH RUN FOR YOUR LIVES.

Just kidding, he would be perfect, that calm, sinister, deep voice would kick ass.
EphPhaThaINC - 9/25/2009, 3:27 PM

Josh Lucas for Sinestro could work
BillyBlack - 9/25/2009, 4:13 PM
SOOOOO It's going to be "first flight" live action
ThatDamnLB - 9/25/2009, 7:20 PM
Hopefully better than "first flight".
Betty - 9/25/2009, 8:32 PM
First Flight did/is doing pretty good sales, and hell Star Trek really showed that there's an appetite for mainstream big budget all out space sci-fi. They'll probly go that way.

I agree with Isaacs for Sinestro - he is incredibly perfect. Weaving's great, but his face is a bit wrong, imo.

Hopkins would top it off... man there alot of great actors to play the Guardians - you could spend half the budget on them alone. Michael Gambon, Christopher Lee, Ben Kingsley, Robert Duvall, John Hurt, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Sean Connery lol - could go on for a while.

Thinking I agree the Hellboy route is the way to go with Kilowog too.
48and2 - 9/25/2009, 10:14 PM
isaacs and weaving are good choice for sinestro.. but i choose isaacs!!! weaving for brainiac.!!
InTylerWeTrust82 thx for asaacs for sinestro pic..
@48an2: i agree with your choice for guardian..
Daniel blacklantern - 9/26/2009, 9:16 AM
Hugo Weaving is Mr.Freeze :)
NightAvenger4 - 9/27/2009, 1:44 PM
HUGO WEAVING = SINIESTRO.
KILOWOG = CGI, VOICE OF JAMES EARL JONES.
