Natalie Portman Denies the Superman and Dark Knight Rises Rumors

The highly in demand actress addresses recent rumors of her being in talks to play roles in both Zack Snyder's Superman reboot and Chris Nolan's third Batman movie in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly..

Since the buzz surrounding Portman's performance in Darren Aronofsk's Black Swan the speculation flew about what project she might be sought after to come aboard next. Of course 2 of the biggest upcoming CBMs, Superman and TDKR, did not escape the rumor mill. Portman was said to have been in talks for both Lois Lane and was part of a supposed short list of female actors to play an unknown character in Chris Nolan's third Batman flick.



Well in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly the young actress addresses these rumors..

When asked about Superman, she told them:

"What is that? (laughs) No, I haven't heard anything."

And whether she'll appear in the finale of Christopher Nolan's Batman triptych:

"Oh, I don't know anything about that."


Seems that these rumors held no water. Of course its possible that Portman isn't saying all she knows. And it isn't all necessarily complete fabrication. WB may well have been/could still be interested in her for one of these properties. For now though, we will have to toss it in the "not gonna happen" file I'm afraid.

Great find ROR. Looks like the rumours were just that, and the fact she's having a baby makes it highly unlikely that she'll be in either movie I would guess. It's a pity, but at least we still have her in Thor. :P

What that means that whole story about the casting of the female roles might be false.

I'm sure she was being sarcastic when she said "What's that" about Superman! I think she is a teriific actress. Lois Lane? Mmmm, maybe not the obvious choice but I think she would have been great.

I reckon she'll get the Best Actress Oscar this year. Black Swan was incredible....

My heart broke when I discovered she's now engaged and pregnant.

shes in enough movies coming out next year lol, i think she has like 5 diff movies next year, all big budgets.

She just got engaged and pregnant, so I doubt she'll appear in ANY movie filming in the next year.

She was excellent in Black Swan but I really can't see her as Lois Lane. Dunno who she could be in TDKR though.

Well she is part of the DC & Marvel Universes with V for Vendetta DC/Vertigo & Thor Marvel that goes to show any thing is possible :) I like Nat Portman she is humble :)
