Here it is enlarged. Shame we lose so much detail but it does appear to be a brand new image of Cap(Chris Evans) taking his iconic shield into battle against..is that Red Skull? No way to know for certain yet..

Update: Thanks to a bit of photoshopping by SoulEater we can see more of red tint to this characters head. Is it the real deal? Certainly appears to be The Red Skull now. Hopefully clearer pics will follow.

I'm sure the picture will be posted in proper detail on Empire.com soon so keep an eye out for the update. And even if it isn't posted, the new issue goes on sale January 4th. so we will find out what those captions say soon enough one way or the other!

Captain America: The First Avenger stars Chris Evans , Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, Dominic Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Neal McDonough and opens on July 22, 2011. It is directed by Joe Johnston
