Possible Production Schedule For Superman Reboot, Story Details Hinted At

Collider have got their hands on what may be a production timeline for Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot. It details shoot dates, rough release date as well as some minor plot spoilers..

All we know so far for certain about the Superman reboot is that it will be directed by Zack Snyder, mentored by Chris Nolan and will most likely shoot scenes in Vancouver. The movie is expected to be released "Holiday 2012". There have been rumors and speculation on the plot, villains etc but nothing concrete. Well, neither is this! But he following was sent to Collider and they think its quite possibly the real deal..

Principle Photography begins 22 August 2011 and shooting will run until April 2012. “Superman” will enter Post-Production May 1, 2012 and will continue until November 2012 set for release in Mid-December 2012 (14th – 21st) [Date still TBC].

Principle Photography will start in [Location TBC] which will act as “Smallville” and will film for about 40 days for 4 scenes: [HOMECOMING], [FUTURE DISCUSSION], [SHIP DISCOVERY] and [FUNERAL].

Filming will then move to [Location TBC] where the majority of filming takes place. Shooting here will last Mid-September until Early January 2012.

Filming will then move to the European and Asian continents as well as the Middle East for minor shoots from January 5th to mid February 2012.

Filming will then move to a UK Studio until late April 2012 for interior shoots and set shoots before entering Post-Production on May 1.

We have no way of knowing if this is real or not but it sounds like it could be. Often times if someone goes to the trouble of falsifying these type of things they make them far more elaborate. All we have here plot wise are those enigmatic scene titles. Also note: This reboot has not been officially subtitled Man Of Steel, that heading was a working title but since Snyder signed on no more has been seen of it.

Anyway, what do you reckon folks? If this is legit, what possible story details could fit in between those scene headings?

NO ORIGIN! God studios get so caught up in doing origins because it's an easy excuse for character development. Get a new story!

Funeral? Must be killing off Johnathan Kent again. Dammit! I just hope they get rid of the stupid spit curl in his hair. That's the stupidest part of Superman's look, even worse than the bright red undies.

Holy crap! 8 months of shooting? Isn't that unheard of? Most films I believe have from 3 to 4 months of shooting. 7 months of post production...sounds about right for a typical movie but 8 months of shooting should require more I think. Anyway, if they do shoot for 8 months this should be about a 2 hour 20-40 minute film. EPIC!!!

IronicMan@ The scenes in Smallville might be flashbacks. That, or I anticipate this movie not being told in a linear fashion.

I don't think they'll be filming straight through, but taking some breaks. But for the most part, it will be an extensive shoot. This is Superman, afterall. There's all the intricate flight scenes.I don't know who the villain is, but I've got to imagine there will be some epic fights that will take weeks to film.

If the above info is correct and it will take 40 days to film those 4 scenes, then an 8 month schedule sounds about right.

This sounds like a boring movie focused on Superman finding himself and "becoming" a hero. We just had a decade of this with Smallville! Give me some bad ass action sequences! Give me a good SUPERMAN story! Give me a villain that can take a punch from Superman! Give me 2 hours without Lex! And...GIVE ME ROUTH!!!

Sounds AWESOME

8 months of shooting sounds epic! Plus, according to the quotes above, there will be more than 6 months of post production which means a stupendous amount of CGI, which means a considerable amount of detail is going to be added. YES!

You know how Pixar sometimes has a 20 minute short before their films (in the cinema)?
What if WB/DC did this same thing and had like a 20 minute short film (before the main movie) and this short film showed something like Brainiac back story and Krypton and Krypton's destruction. Or even perhaps the "birth" and creation of Doomsday. And then the actual film follows immediately on.

Now only if Tom Welling and Erica Durance can play clark kent and Lois Lane. We'd be all set! :)

That is so awesome!! I hope they really do spend that much time on post production!! This film will be epic if they do! Or maybe they are shooting some of the sequel footage too??

This could very well be fake, but I don't care. Ship discovery? Scenes in Asia? A funeral in Smallville? It sounds freaking delicious.

WIN WIN WIN! I like it! I hope they do what it mentioned, sounds epic!

I hope they do a short before the movie, I hope they cross universes, I hope they dont use routh and I hope they do a decent job!

I also hope the short would include a scene with batman, now wouldnt that be SOMETHING!

People, WELLING ISN'T GOING TO BE IN THIS MOVIE!!!
Why do you still persist!? He isn't that good, and it's a different continuity. Snyder has said multiple times that this will be a completely new Superman experience.

Some of you really don't deserve a new Superman film. I guarantee at least 99% of you proclaiming "Welling can't act" have never acted a second in your lives. Tom Welling has spent more time in the mind of Clark Kent than any other actor. He's taken the character from an insecure, vulnerable 15 year-old who's just discovering he's a "strange visitor" to a (nearly) fully grown and developed Superman. No other actor has had more time with the character, therefore, no one has a better idea of what it's like to be Clark than Tom Welling. Not only does he most definately have the acting chops (if you disagree, you're either a hater or ignorant and have not really watched the series), he absolutely deserves to be the man under the shield and cape on the big screen. When Bryan Singer tried to kill the character's integrity with his travesty "Returns", Tom Welling (exectutive producer and part-time director) kept the flame lit with Smallville. An endorsement from the late great Christopher Reeve, 10 years, consistant ratings, and a solid fan-base should tell Snyder one simple truth, Tom Welling, like it or not, is Superman.

I'm gonna laugh so hard if they end up casting Welling, just because everyone keeps acting like it's not possible. WB has asked him quite a few times to play Superman for films, what makes this any different?

But I do want him to get the part, know quite a few people who do. But I wouldn't mind if a new actor got the part. Joe M. would be pretty cool. :)
