Henry Cavill Cast As Superman!

This one should please the fans. WB and Zack Snyder have found their new Man Of Steel..

Here's a nice bit of news for a Sunday evening. WB and Zack Snyder have cast Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman in their upcoming reboot. Despite word that Joe Manganiello was the front runner, Cavill was always a very strong choice among fans but he was never actually mentioned in connection with the project(as far as I know?). Anyway, word is that He was being looked at for the role for quite a while but Warner Bros chief Jeff Robinov only recently got to see his screen tests.

HENRY CAVILL WILL TAKE ON THE DUAL ROLE OF CLARK KENT / SUPERMAN IN THE NEW FILM FROM

WARNER BROS. PICTURES AND LEGENDARY PICTURES

BURBANK, CA, January 30, 2011 – Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that Henry Cavill has won the coveted role of Superman, the iconic superhero.

The film will be directed by Zack Snyder, who stated, “In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.”

Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder are the producers of the film. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers.

Cavill recently wrapped production on “The Cold Light of Day” and stars in the upcoming “Immortals,” opening this fall.

Targeted for release in December 2012, the new Superman movie will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

@MsKyle when the author was writing the book she was thinking of Cavil as Edward she would've got him the part during the movie but he was too old.

wow this is huge. First I wanted zack snyder to be the director and my prayers were answered. I want henry to be superman and my prayers were answered again. I cannot wait for this movie!!!!!!!!!!

Wow...WB went against their prior feelings on Cavill. Not sure how that is going to pay off. I guess I am not excited anymore about this film. I want a true imposing Man of Steel and Cavill don't cut it for me. Oh well. there's plenty of other CB movies coming out.

Seems like a good choice. Not that familiar with him, but I know he's a popular pick with CBM's fan casters. Can't say I'm too bothered though...Superman is a stale character that I have very little interest in. I'm sure I'll enjoy the movie, and that this guy will do a great job, but when the character is so consistently boring in the comic books right now, it's hard to care as much as I did when Captain America or Spider-Man were cast!
