Is The Female Villain in Superman Miss Teschmacher?

It's looking like it might be. Along with the recent news that auditions are being held for the role of Lex Luthor, word is that WB are looking for an actress to play his sidekick Miss Teschmacher too..

As anyone who has seen Richard Donner's Superman movies(and who hasn't) knows, Miss Teschmacher was Lex Luthor's glamorous assistant/sidekick/love interest.

She was played by Valerie Perrine and was something of a comic foil at times and continued to be when her character was updated in Bryan Singer's Superman Returns, this time played by Parker Posey. Then in Smallville, the character of Tess Mercer was an amalgamation of Teschmacher and Mercy Graves, Luthor's bodyguard/chauffeur.

Now a while ago the news broke that Zack Snyder and WB were looking for 2 female leads for their Superman reboot, and one of them was to be a villain. The rumor mill churned out Ursa, the Kryptonian villain, but it seems that Supes could be facing a much less threatening female opponent.

Not too much to go on for now, just the following tweet from Torosreviews' eltorolatino..

according to HOward Stern, auditions are being held for lex luthor and miss Teschmacher

We assume this was revealed on his radio show, as he hasn't mentioned it via Twitter. But if this is indeed accurate, and those Lindsey Lohan rumors are too, then this is the part that she is most likely reading for. Of course Teschmacher may not be THE female villain that was spoken of, although with Lex confirmed, and General Zod seeming less and less likely, Ursa would be pretty unlikely too.

how would she be a villain lol
Ethic - 4/5/2011, 5:44 PM
She wasn't in the comics though?
Why would they be casting a character from the Donnerverse in a film that is entirely renewing Superman films?
Sounds like bull.

Though it could very well be a character like her.
Kind of Mercy Graves/Tess Mercer style.
P862010 - 4/5/2011, 5:53 PM
if mercy graves is in i can see zack's go to gal Carla getting that role
AlexDeLarge87 - 4/5/2011, 6:16 PM
I hope the character is Mercy Graves!
Milla Jovovich would be great in that role!

Not liking the idea of seeing Lindsay Lohan in this movie!:/
Maybe in some other flick, but HELL NO in this!
DannyDreg - 4/5/2011, 6:32 PM
I agree with the others, I don't want it to be Ms.Teschmacher, I want to see Mercy Graves on the big screen - - played by anyone other than Linsay Lohan.
AlternateNo4 - 4/5/2011, 6:57 PM
depends on lex's age... i always thought of charlize theron as the perfect mercy.
Chewtoy - 4/5/2011, 7:01 PM
Eh, you can never tell with these things. Someone could have been told that they were casting Luthor's henchman and only knowing the film would guess Miss Teschmacher.
croniccris - 4/5/2011, 7:09 PM
bring on teabag and some epic boobies!!
LFANCH - 4/5/2011, 7:15 PM

Bojac - 4/5/2011, 7:24 PM
How about instead of reviving a character from the old Superman movies...

We get a robot Lois Lane?
DrRockso - 4/5/2011, 7:25 PM
Mmmmm boobs
loganoneil - 4/5/2011, 7:56 PM
Oh GOD, NOOOOOO!!! This is turing out to be a Donner-boot! Why else would they cast for a character who only exists in the Donner films?! THIS IS WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS!!! Don't get me wrong, the Donner films WERE absolutely brilliant... FOR THEIR TIME! But it's been 30 YEARS, THEY NEED TO MOVE FORWARD, PEOPLE!
CigBreath - 4/5/2011, 7:59 PM
superman needs lindsay lohan
KALel3412 - 4/5/2011, 8:07 PM
well i guessed right if true. ... but i doubt it is
ABLEE337 - 4/5/2011, 8:10 PM
I agree with BlackPanther717, it should be Mercy Graves.
JM4Superman - 4/5/2011, 8:17 PM
As long as they don't have lex luthor as real estate and they have him as a corrupted ceo. I'm cool with Miss Teschmacher
Bartman87 - 4/5/2011, 8:51 PM
It doesn't even state as fact that it is for for Teschmacher so why jump to conclusions, Snyder can't frack it up any worse than the last one.
JYCowboy - 4/5/2011, 8:51 PM
AAAaaaww, just let Zack do his work will ya. He may want to re-create the relationship chemistry from the Donner Sups but its already stated that this will be a remake/reboot. Lex just might be in it but its going to have loads more action which stands that there will be more than those characters in it. Zack knows today had has a lot to live up to. The casting has been interesting so far so give the pitchforks and torches a rest.
Herosave - 4/5/2011, 9:07 PM
Well, looks like things are still coming together for the movie. Though I'll say it would be nice if we could have a sliver of hope that the Superman from this movie could potentially be in the JLA movie coming out. And yes I know Snyder said it won't happen, but it would be cool to have the same guy reprising the role in JLA. I'm just a little nervous that your average movie goer may be thrown off by the idea that a different guy would be playing the same character that was just on the big screen a year before. That is, assuming they get things out in 2013 as planned.
JR - 4/5/2011, 9:35 PM
this has to be a joke right?
up2late - 4/5/2011, 9:48 PM
I vote for Banshee
mastarockafella - 4/6/2011, 12:49 AM
Let's all chill and wait for the final result, but my patience is running out. I want to know the whole cast and characters just as much as you want.
ChristopherM - 4/6/2011, 1:22 AM
unless this came from Howard himself...don't believe this...if it came from Robin her sources are terrible online gossip rags....her news segment consists of Perez Hilton and Page 6 print outs..lol...I wouldn't doubt Robin is recycling the previous reports that show never breaks casting info unless the actors themselves reveal it

@TheGODDAMNSUPERGUY

Dude alot of stuff you see in the superman comics was created by Donner in the first Superman film, thats the reason that film is held to such a high standard. Like the fortress of solitude as well as other stuff. You are going to have some stuff from donners film in the new movie, why? Because they are now using it in the comics. When they said they wanted to distance themselves from donner's films they wanted to change the looks, tone, and music. Meaning they do not want to make another remake Superman Returns. That does not mean they will not use donner's films as reference of what to do and what not to do. They just want to start fresh like they did Batman Begins, Like the director said they are making this film as though this is the first Superman film to ever come out. I for one love the Donner film and think Chris is one if not he best Superman so far, but I am really getting tired of everything Superman being based on that version. Even Smallville to an extent is based on the donner's version. Its like the studios that does anything with the character bases their product on chris version instead of the actual comics version. They have to get out of that mind set and retire that version.
blackcelebration - 4/6/2011, 2:55 AM
@dadarkknight Sadly, I have a feeling that Hollywood Producers have more of a say in this film than Snyder, Goyer, or Nolan. That, if true, might explain why we have Miss Techmacker.

The Donner film should be used as a blueprint to make a Superman moves. Just as Nolan used it as a blueprint to make Batman Begins. But not just copying and pasting the plot and thinking, well, it worked in 78, I'm sure people will watch the same film again in 2012.

cbostont102 - 4/6/2011, 3:06 AM
Valerie was the BOMB Superman The Movie helped me grow up in more ways than one! haha

cbostont102 - 4/6/2011, 3:12 AM
Also...for everyone that keeps saying...Snyder said his Supes won't be in JLA and Nolan said no Robin and my aunt lucy said...

I'm pretty sure that the Studios will do whatever they damn well please no matter what Mr. Nolan and Mr. Snyder want. Maybe Snyder won't be involved with JLA but I'd bet Cavill will be....
nailbiter111 - 4/6/2011, 5:14 AM
if this has lex luthor, female henchman, or kryptonite i'm done. enough is enough! only lex luthor exists in this world?????????? oh my god! this is uber lame. forget f this i'm done. see yah later superman, give me a call when your not so gawd damn repetitive.
Superbatprime - 4/6/2011, 5:28 AM
I thought we were moving away from the Donner ers?

Mercy! Not some dumb bimbo.
Why would Lex keep somebody like Miss Tesswhatever around?

I suppose well be seeing auditions for that Otis moron next?

Ugh, I really hope this is wrong, Mercy is a cool character, she's ruthless and smart and has served Lex Loyally for a looooong time, she deserves to e in this movie if Lex is.

Which I rather hope is not a big role tbh, I want a villian S can punch through buildings.

If Lex is the main bad guy, bring on the power armour!
Caedus137 - 4/6/2011, 5:39 AM
nailbiter111 - Having a Superman film without Kryptonite is like having a Batman film without gadgets, or Hulk film without Anger...It can't happen! It's an essential part of the character and the mythology.. I suppose to you, having Bruce Wayne's parents killed in each Batman franchise is 'lame and repetitive'? Or maybe Spiderman crawling up walls in every film is 'lame and repetitive'? Maybe for the sake of originality we should make all the cyborgs in the next Terminator film gold, freindly and comedic, more like C3PO? Afterall, having them evil and murderous would be lame and repetitive... Cue the vitriolic personal retort -
paulyd3 - 4/6/2011, 5:42 AM

@dadarkknight

Do not know what crack your smoking but Donner did not create the fortress of solitude. The fortress of solitude was intruduced in 1958 in the comic book.

StrangerX - 4/6/2011, 6:34 AM
Never like the character.
JohnnyKrypton - 4/6/2011, 6:37 AM
Posey's character wasn't Teschmacher (though it may as well have been). I don't mind the character, but it does seem counterproductive to Snyder's ststed direction.
Herosave - 4/6/2011, 7:02 AM
Maybe he wants to make it more like the animated series, plus whatever unique spin he wants to add to it.
TheGreatone0207 - 4/6/2011, 8:12 AM
I prefer seeing Mercy Graves. Ms.Teschmacher was pure T&A. She added nothing to the films.
Facade - 4/6/2011, 8:16 AM
Definately my favorite of the Reeve's Superman movies.
Jer3miah - 4/6/2011, 8:16 AM
I'd prefer the body guard, Mercy.
JosePetrelli12 - 4/6/2011, 8:19 AM
I dont know how it was ignored for the fancst of Charlize Theron as Mercy Graves or even Tess Mercer... Anything with her in it is a SHIBBY bonus!!
