Natalie Dormer Joins Game Of Thrones Season 2 As Margery Tyrell

Here we have the first of what is sure to be many casting additions for the second season of Game Of Thrones.

THR report..

The Tudors actress Natalie Dormer has joined the cast of HBO’s Game of Thrones for the second season, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Dormer, who played Anne Boleyn on the Showtime drama, has been added as a series regular for the epic series based on the George R.R. Martin books.

Dormer will play Margaery Tyrell, a beautiful and shrewd woman from House Tyrell. She is set to marry King Robert’s brother Renly Baratheon, in part to support his bid to take the Throne from King Joffrey.


As many of you will know, we will also be seeing Dormer as Private Lorraine in Captain America: TFA. Fans of teh show may be curious as to what Renly is doing marrying his gay lover(Loras Tyrell)'s sister. Well, as THR mention, it's all just a bit of politicking. Margaery places a fairly major role in the story from the second book on. Expect announcement for the other major players(Stannis Baratheon, Mellisandre, Jaquen Hagar etc) soon enough as the show resumes filming in July.

I just recently started catching this show based on your coverage of it and the fact that Sean Bean is in it. I've only seen 3 episodes, but me likes what me sees.

Wow, she is beautiful, something otherwordly about those eyes.

It's an excellent show and great book. She looks kinda alien to me in that picture. She's a hot alien though.

Mmmm....love me some Natalie Dormer! She was one of my favorite parts of The Tudors. I need to check this show out for sure.

@MaddMonkk- The female skin scenes are all that matter in this show (OH YEAH!!!). The Game of Thrones books really were not that great (imo).

I wonder if it will be 2 years in between seasons (like Sopranos, Curb, etc.)? Although with all of the kids in the cast, they really can't take that long.

I'm reading Clash of Kings now....like i'm really gonna wait ti spring 2012 to see what happends. Thankfully the books are as good as the show.

theWorld - Why not check out the show instead of jumping to conclusions? It's really damned good.

I'm looking forward to the second season, although I can wait for it. I'm reading through the books, on Clash of Kings now, and it's really damned good. If you enjoy the show, and you like a good read, definitely pick these books up. ^_^
