No Lex Luthor In Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel?

No Lex Luthor In Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel? No Lex Luthor In Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel?

Most of us figured it was a foregone conclusion that Superman's most famous nemesis would be making an appearance in the upcoming reboot, but from what we hear this may not be the case..

I have been digging around trying to find out some info on the Lex Luthor situation in Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel. With pretty much every other major role cast, many believed that Christopher Meloni must have won the role when he was announced as joining the cast but that wasn't the case. Most lines of inquiry hit a dead end but I did get the following piece of info back from a source at a casting agency..

"If Snyder has cast or is looking to cast someone for the role then he is keeping it very quiet indeed. I don't think he will be in the movie based on what I have heard, but like I said, it could just be because things are being kept very hush hush"

Or, it could just mean that my friend hasn't heard anything! Obviously this is just one person's educated guess, but it is a possibility nonetheless. If Luthor wasn't in the movie, how would you guys feel about it?

Yes! Thank you!

Show us LexCorp. Keep Luthor in the shadows.

I'd feel perfectly fine not having Lex in the film. He's an overrated AND overused villain anyways, at least Zod should have the spotlight again.

FIRST of all, he got stuck in an island in superman returns :P.
And also he's been in every superman movie, give him a break

Yeah, Lex Luthor appears too much, it's about time they changed things up a bit, plus, it'll be hard finding someone perfect for Lex.

Smart move keeping it hush, hush. Can't imagine Superman without Lex. Then again he shouldn't be the only villain. Brainiac. Metallo. Even Zod. Superman has a decent amount of villains that could work on the big screen. I would love to see Lex don his power-suit at some point and battle the Man of Steel. That'd be cool.

Good stuff! They probably have someone in mind, or even have an actor ready and waiting for a small cameo.

But it Lex doesn't show up at all it wouldn't bother me, there's plenty of room for him later.
Although I imagine they will at least mention LexCorp.

If the purpose of Man of Steel is to provide a fresh perspective on the Superman character, it would be ideal for the movie to focus on another of Superman's many enemies. I'd love to see Brainiac, with things set up for Darkseid in a sequel. That will allow this film a better chance to be debated on its merits, not just as yet another sequel to the 1978 classic, and not as a sequel to Returns.

Give Lex a much-needed rest. If he MUST be involved, leave him as a shadowy behind-the-scenes figure.

I bet he's teased at the end of the movie, like Joker was teased at the end of Batman Begins

It's a bit disappointing because Lex hasn't got his just due and it's not a given we will be given a sequel.

lex luthor should be in it,but more as a background character.

zod as the main villain & lex as a minor one.

Most of you are saying to save Lex for future movie sequel?

THERE WON'T BE ANY SEQUELS. God damn some are dense. Snyder made it very clear that after MOS he is planning to do other projects. And by 2013 the legal situation with the Superman copyright will ensure we don't get any Superman sequels.

And to most of you saying he's overused- HAVE YOU PEOPLE [frick]ING SEEN THE WAY HE'S BEEN DEPICTED???

he was always with that bumbling retard OTIS.

Or this-

He was OLD, NON-THREATENING and JUST HAD ANOTHER LAND-SCHEME. God dammit!!

there are sooooooooooooooo many untapped bad guys in the Superman universe that would be AWESOME for the big screen!

I was really hoping they were going to go with the "Birthright" comics as source material. But this would mean they aren't which may be a problem for this Superman-fan.

MAYBE, just maybe have lex as a kind of anti-nick fury character.

Wow people that don't wanna see Lex must be happy with the goofy portrayal of him in the Superman movies. Lex should be in the movie in the back ground not a Villain but he should definitely be in the movie and build him up as a villain. I haven't seen the Lex Luthor thats cold, manipulative and a [frick]ing genius yet. Again not saying he has to be a villain but he should be in it even if its for 2 or 3 scenes. He's meant to be Metropolis golden boy before superman arrives.

I want a cameo. Michael C Hall as Lex watching Superman take on Zod from Lexcorp Tower.

Its amazing how the best portrayal of Lex Luthor was from a animated series followed closely by Smallville(Can't believe I just mentioned that).

I would like to see Lex, but a real version of him. Its really kinda sad that Smallville got the closest to a real version of Lex (near the end of course) than any of the movies so far.
But not the land grabbing Lex, the cold, calculating, evil mastermind willing to do anything to take control of mankind.

I would either like to see him either as a secondary/ background character working in the shadows as many people have said or more so a Nod to him, similar what they did at the end of Batman Begins for the joker.... Someone in similar age or couple years older than Supes...

StephenJ - 6/27/2011, 10:23 AM
He needs to at least be mentioned, if not a small cameo on tv or something, lexcorp, or something must be mentioned about Lex. I don't want to see him as a villain, but a minor role in the movie. 2-3 scenes or so

They should show other villians in the Man of Steel. There's been too many movies with Lex, so I'm glad they're changing it.
superbatspiderman
superbatspiderman - 6/27/2011, 10:33 AM
They should have him in the movie but not as a main villain. They should focus on him growing to hate Superman progressively. I want to see why Lex hates Superman because that was never really focused on in past films. Smallvile is the best Lex because we see why he hates Clark so much.

GOOD! No more Lex please!! However I will say that Superman III sucked without Lex, although I do not think for that reason. NO MORE LEX PLEASE!! NOT IN THE SEQUEL EITHER!! BRING ON BRAINIAC!!

Is this all Superman boils to in the big screen? Does it have to be Lex or Zod? Isn't it time to spread a little love around those 70-plus years of a rogues gallery?

I don't read Superman, haven't in a long, long time. But I have watched the movies and, in all seriousness, NO ONE needs to see Supes taking on those guys again. We got it. They're bad and they can't beat the goodness that is our hero. NEEEEXXXXT!

People don't seem to grasp that for the last 25 years in the comics,Lex has been
more then a mere villain for Superman to battle.I get it that Lex has been done to death in the films, but Lex is as big a part of the Superman family as Lois, Jimmy and Perry. Lex is Metropolis, the real power in the city and a foe Superman can't just drop
in jail. The very fact that he uses his money to manipulate the law Superman is sworn
to uphold, while being involved with, but never linked to crimes, forces Superman to constantly resist the urge to cross the line for the greater good.Lex must be in the movie as a background figure. We still need Perry, Jimmy and possibly,Cat Grant,Steve Lombard,Ron Thorpe,Maggie Sawyer,Mercy Graves and Dan Turpin cast,so it's still very possible Lex will be cast before production starts.

This is good news to me. He'll be pulling some strings in the shadows, you better believe that. I guarantee he will be teased at the end of the movie.
TheDarkKnightWing
TheDarkKnightWing - 6/27/2011, 10:54 AM
I agree that Lex has been Supes villain in the movies too much and that we need to give some of the other villains their time on the big screen, so we can have more cases like with Ra's Al Ghul and Scarecrow. Although I still think Lex should have a cameo or be mentioned in this film but not as a villain. You know, allow him to get some character development in the sequel(if there is one). And he should develop into someone evil because we all know that Lex can be more than we've seen. A darker character. A colder character. Smallville did show a great portrayal of Lex, IMO, but I think there can be better. So yeah, theres my two cents.

No Reboot either.

They could just make like James Bond, with ongoing adventures.

Enough (b)origins.
