Here is something we missed over the weekend that should please fans of the little pointy eared fellas the world over. In an article detailing writer Joe Ahearne's mysterious new Supernatural Thriller pitch at Warner Bros Deadline also reveal that he has signed on to write a new script for Wendy and Richard Pini's cult classic ElfQuest..

It’s the British writer’s second deal with Warner Bros, which recently hired him to rewrite Elf Quest for Rawson Thurber to direct. Thurber wrote the original draft. Ahearne will write Elf Quest and start the new pitch at the same time.

Rawson Thurber (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) had previously delivered his script draft back in 2009 but since then we haven't hear a peep about this movie. Some of our younger CBMers may not know much, or have even heard of Elfquest but back when it was published by Marvel's more adult imprint Epic Comics it gained quite a following. The stories featured complex and deep themes and characterizations, and subverted a lot of the cliches and notions of how the Fantasy genre is usually depicted in much the same way Game Of Thrones did for this generation. I myself was a big fan and have hoped for a movie version for a long time so I'm very happy that things seem to be moving forward.
